Oscars 2015: Rosamund Pike In Givenchy

Who: Rosamund Pike

Where: At the 87th Annual Academy Awards held at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, California

Wearing: A custom, strapless crimson red Givenchy Haute Couture gown, teamed with Lorraine Schwartz earrings

Verdict: Finally an award season look from Rosamund Pike that I can get excited about, this red Givenchy Couture gown with its exquisite embroidery and sexy silhouette is the best she has looked.

This gown is sexy, she was really working that thigh-high split, and I loved the cinched in waist from the built-in corset, it really gave her a great hourglass figure.

What I loved most is that this wasn’t boring, it fit her and it was vibrant. We had to wait all award season for her to show us her Hollywood style power and it was worth it.

Red Carpet: SAG Awards 2015 – Best Dressed

So this award season hasn’t really blown me away, the Golden Globes and the Critics’ Choice Awards were OK, there were a few standout looks but nothing to be honest that you would remember for years to come, and it seems the SAG Awards held the same fate, the red carpet was filled with “nice” gowns. But for me nice doesn’t really have a place on the red carpet, I want to see drama, high fashion risks and creative designs. The only thing I can hope for is that all the major fashion houses are holding back on their gorgeous gowns for the Oscars next month, otherwise this could be one of the most disappointing award seasons on record.

OK, so I am being a little over dramatic, I just love the award season red carpet so much, it rivals Cannes for exquisite gowns and I love it when my favourite actresses really bring it. Normally I am a huge fan of the SAG Awards red carpet, mainly because the big stars seem more relaxed and happy to be there, but I felt last night the award show was missing some big A-list names that always kill it in the fashion stakes such as Diane Kruger, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lawrence, Emily Blunt and Jennifer Lopez.

Saying all that I did love some looks, namely Emma Stone, Julianne Moore and Reese Witherspoon, who actually made the Golden Globes red carpet as well, there were also some great choices by Downton Abbey girls Joanne Froggatt and Laura Carmichael, as well as some stunning Donna Karen Atelier gowns worn by Camila Alves and Sofia Vergara, plus some improved outings from Kaley Cuoco, Keira Knightley and Felicity Jones, all of which grace my red carpet Pinterest board, but I have to confess I was still a little underwhelmed by Jennifer Aniston’s vintage Galliano gown, which no doubt everyone else is raving about, for me is was a little too much boob, but I do think her body is looking better than ever.

So here you have it my five best dressed ladies from the 2015 SAG Awards:

Emma Stone in Christian Dior Couture

I am really enjoying seeing Emma Stone have a lot of fun on the red carpet and I love how she really brings a menswear-inspired edge to proceedings. I loved her Golden Globes Lanvin look but this Dior Couture tuxedo-style dress with a sheer skirt and sweeping train really makes that outfit look boring. I love that she went for drama, sex appeal and fun in her look and as always she is the coolest girl in town. I really think that her partnership with stylist Petra Flannery is on fire and I have high expectations for the Oscars.

Julianne Moore in Givenchy Couture

I am loving Julianne Moore’s love affair with Givenchy, they really do seem like a team made for one another, and this is another gorgeous gown. OK, so this isn’t the most original look, a redhead wearing green, or Julianne wearing sequins or a column gown, but saying all that I still love its drama and the fact it made a statement on last night’s SAG Awards red carpet when most did not.

I know some people on Twitter were saying that they wish she had done something more with her hair but I love that she has this minimalistic vibe when it comes to her hair and make-up, plus I adore those purple stone earrings she is wearing.

Reese Witherspoon in custom Giorgio Armani

There is something about Reese Witherspoon on the red carpet, she doesn’t always go for the edgiest of designs or even the raciest, but she always looks incredible, and I love this white custom Giorgio Armani gown. White for me on the red carpet can sometimes seem too bridal or not very flattering but there is something so elegant about this one-shoulder design with its matte sequin detailing along the neckline and shoulder that makes it beautiful.

Add to that her flawless body, stunning hair and make-up, I am a huge fan of a ponytail done right on the red carpet, and all those sparkling Harry Winston jewels and it really does make for a gorgeous look and did you see the back – that scoop is pure perfection.

Camila Alves in Donna Karen Atelier

Donna Karen really had a great SAG Awards with Emilia Clarke, Sofia Vergara and Camila Alves all looking absolutely stunning, and I am sure for most Sofia will get the best dressed nod because she wasn’t wearing a stiff-looking mermaid-style gown, but for me Camila Alves looked a knockout in this strapless aubergine gown that was tailored to perfection to show off her incredible body.

If this gown had been in black, like a lot of looks were last night, I would have been bored – it is the colour of this dress, as well as her beauty that really makes this a standout look of the night for me.

Laura Carmichael in Vionnett

For my fifth and final best dressed star it was a hard choice between Downton Abbey stars Laura Carmichael and Joanne Froggatt, who did look radiant in Honor, but I think Laura’s subtle sexy and daring choice in Vionnett with its sheer and patterned skirt deserved the space that little bit more.

What I love about this look is how different and modern this look is, she took a risk and it paid off, and I am so pleased that she resisted the temptation to over style it as the dress really does speak for itself. I am sure this look will split opinions but I love it.

Fashion: My Top Five SS15 Campaigns

SS15-Valentino-Michal-PudelNormally for me it is the autumn/winter campaigns that really brings the fashion alive, maybe I say that because for me the winter collections are what I love to see on the catwalk, but these five fashion houses are really making me love spring/summer with their incredible fashion ads.

There is a stripped back feel to all the campaigns this season, I don’t mean that there isn’t as much money pouring into them or that they are less creative, just that the clothes are doing the talking rather than a celebrity face, well except Julia Roberts, who even appears in complete contrast to her perfume ambassadors days in a make-up free shot for the Givenchy campaign. There is a hint of darkness in some, especially Valentino and Prada, as well as oozing coolness from the likes of Chloé and Coach.

It was hard to pick just five campaigns to be honest as I absolutely love Kit Harington for Jimmy Choo, Joan Didion showing that age is just a number for Celine and Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn looking stunning for Burberry.

SS15-Valentino-MichalPudel-

First up Valentino, not only are they gorgeous, as always, I love the cinematographic vision of this campaign, as well as the darkness and the beauty of the floating models. But what I absolutely love about this campaign is that it isn’t shot by Steven Meisel, or Tim Walker, or Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, which don’t get me wrong I adore, but I am so pleased to see a major fashion house tapping a relatively unknown photographer in Slovakian Michal Pudelka to helm their spring/summer 2015 campaign.

Shot in Tuscany on the beaches and in the woods of Punta Ala, there is something mesmerising and spooky about this campaign, as well as poetic and romantic that I adore and I really think it standouts out from the rest.

SS15Coach2

In total contrast with have an uber cool campaign from Coach, shot by Steven Meisel his second campaign for the New York-based accessories and apparel brand, and I really think it showcases British designer Stuart Vevers‘ updated vision for the brand to make it equally about the bags as well as clothes, while adding that laidback cool feel, which really comes across in the muted pastel palette of the group shot. Plus can we please also discuss how incredible Valery Kaufman looks? For me she is one of hot models of the moment.

SS15Coach1 SS15-Givenchy-Julia-Roberts

Normally ad campaigns are filled with celebrities, not that I don’t like that, but I feel that Julia Roberts for Givenchy, shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott is different, maybe it is because they are in black and white, maybe it is because she isn’t wearing any make-up, or maybe it is down to the fact they deliberately avoid using her famous smile in the images.

Like with Valentino there is a darkness to the images, while still having that sexiness that Julia is known for, as well as a hint of masculinity, the pants suit shot has to be my favourite. But I think what makes this a great campaign, styled by Katy England, has to be how honest it is, which is unusual in the fashion industry.

I just adore that it isn’t the Pretty Woman Julia Roberts that everyone expects and loves, for me this is a so much better, I really think she looks beautiful.

SS15-Givenchy-JuliaRoberts- SS15-Prada-5

Prada is always one of my favourite campaigns, do you remember the chic gas station from a couple of seasons ago, and the chess board setting? I feel that Miuccia Prada and Steven Meisel really make a great team and this is another strong campaign that really is a lot moodier than you expect from Prada, which is probably why I like it even more.

I really do love the offbeat details from this campaign such as the wet-look, matted hair, the haunted looks on the models faces, as well as the odd placement of the accessories, which works well with the contradictory storyline of a woman that exudes confidence, is uninhibited and carefree, while still remaining in control.

The black and white images are my favourite, especially the seductive bedroom scene, where she has just casually flung herself onto her bed, as well as the graffiti pastel backdrop you can just about make-out. The campaign really does highlight how strong the Prada bag collection is this season.

SS15-Prada-1 SS15-Chloe-1

OK, so this isn’t the most creative or technical of campaigns, but it is the one each season I gush over, as one day I hope that I will be a Chloé girl and that I too will be able to pull off that 70’s vibe. Basically I have a serious girl crush not only on the brand but on the perfect Chloé girls that model the campaign, which this season is the gorgeous Caroline Trentini and Eniko Mihalik, who both just have a nymph-like quality about them floating down the sandy beach in their maxi dresses.

As well as the beautiful models, this campaign, shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin also has the most stunning setting in Paradise Cove, California, which has so been filed away in my wanderlust folder on Pinterest, the striking horses, as well as the chic Drew bag that is high on my SS15 wishlist.

This campaign is basically the idyllic summer I dream of each year.

Golden Globes 2015: Julianne Moore In Givenchy

Who: Julianne Moore

Where: At the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California

Wearing: A custom-made Givenchy Couture metallic sequinned gown with feather detailing on the skirt, teamed with Chopard earrings

Verdict: Wow, wow, wow – what a frock! Julianne Moore always brings it for award season but I think this has to be one her boldest looks to-date and she pulled it off with ease.

If this gown had just been fully beaded, even with the ombre bottom to the skirt it would have been stunning, but by adding in the feathers it sparks a whole other level of elegance and drama that I love at award shows.

There were a lot of safe options on the red carpet and I am so pleased that she decided to go for it – when I first saw her on TV I actually gasped, this is one exquisite gown.

As well as loving the gown, I also love that she finished off her elegant look with dramatic eye make-up that really suited the mood of the dress, it was like her huge feather-like lashes matched the skirt.

It is always hard for me to choose a favourite, but I think this is definitely a contender. Are you a fan of this dramatic gown?

AW14 Campaign: The Givenchy Rave

AW14-Givenchy

Ever wondered what a Riccardo Tisci private party would looked liked? Well according to Givenchy’s autumn/winter 2014 ad campaign it includes a select guest list, gorgeous models, lots of dancing, half-naked men, music from the Martinez Brothers and most importantly a strict Givenchy AW14 dress code. It really does sounds like my sort of rave.

Starring models Julia Noblis, Mariacara Boscono, Jamie Bochert, Peter Brant Jr. and Kendall Jenner the campaign was shot by photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. The print campaign is great – the most photogenic group of friends on a night out, but for me the AW14 campaign is really brought to life with the short film showing the models dancing – it really does show off the sheer, printed dresses and skirts off to perfection.

Come on hand’s up who wants to be invited to the next Givenchy private party?

Noah: Jennifer Connelly’s Gorgeous Promo Tour

Noah-London-Jennifer-Connelly

I love a big film release, not only is it fun to see a blockbuster at the cinema, it also brings out the best red carpet fashion outside of award season and Cannes. For Noah, the epic biblical-inspired movie, I thought I would be gushing about Emma Watson, granted I have already and she has looked gorgeous, but for me this promo tour has all been about Jennifer Connelly, who plays Noah’s wife in the film, as she has looked sensational.

I have loved every look she has worn, from the exquisite floral embellished Alexander McQueen gown from the autumn/winter 2014 collection that she wore to the London premiere to the blush pink Givenchy Couture gown that she wore in Mexico, this gown was Oscar worthy and it was lovely to see her in it – the fuchsia jewels were incredible and it fitted her perfectly.

Jennifer has also added a touch of sex appeal to her red carpet looks as well as statement floor length gowns, I really loved her in this gorgeous mint leaf-embroidered Giambattista Valli Couture mini – that ruby-embellished neckline totally makes this one knockout look. This Madrid look was also one of my favourite make-up looks from Jennifer as well – the fuchsia lip teamed with a slick bun really makes this one amazing look – both elegant and sexy.

Actually ever detail about her Noah promo tour has been spot on – from the mix up of designers, which is nice to see, to the various hair and make-up styles that she has gone for, as well as her love of embellished and classic pieces – her stylist Leslie Fremar and glam squad really have done a great job.

It is hard to choose a favourite look, I love her classic custom Lanvin black velvet column gown that she wore in Berlin, because the thigh-high slit was classy and went perfectly with those Christian Louboutin heels and her hair styled in a tucked-under ’do is divine, but I think the pink embellished Givenchy Couture just wins out for me as this gown deserved a red carpet appearance.

Which of Jennifer Connelly’s styles gets your vote?

The Bridge Premiere: Diane Kruger In Jonathan Saunders

Diane-Kruger-Jonathan-Saunders

Who: Diane Kruger aka my number one girl crush

Where: At the premiere of her new TV show The Bridge on FX in Los Angeles

Wearing: A green, white and black sleeveless chiffon Jonathan Saunders dress from the Resort 2014 collection, teamed with white Givenchy heels and a nude Charlotte Olympia ‘Cancer Pandora’ perspex clutch

Verdict: I do love seeing Diane Kruger on the red carpet as you never quite know what to expect, and I certainly couldn’t have predicted that she would wear this amazing Jonathan Saunders dress. I love the summery floaty vibe of the dress, with the sheer and ombre colouring of the green, black and white, which looks uber glamorous and fresh with the geometric print.

Even though I love the dress as it is with the black mini skirt underneath, I do wish is was more green and white and less black, her colouring and blonde hair just works against that jade green perfectly.

As always Diane completes her look with glamorous touches including stunning strappy Givenchy sandals that matches her chic white mani, and the most amazing clutch from Charlotte Olympia’s Zodiac collection that I have been coveting since I saw it April **I really want the Gemini one**.

Finishing off her look with flawless make-up, striking eyes and side swept waves by Giannandrea, who seems to be the go-to hairdresser for the red carpet, he has made Naomi Watts, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rose Byrne and Isla Fisher look fabulous recently.

Simply – gorgeous as always!!!

Are  you a fan of Diane Kruger’s latest red carpet look?
