My Style: Sunny Days Call For Superga Tennis Shoes

I do love spring, the promise of gorgeous blooms, the expectation of sunshine, the hope of striping off those winter layers we’ve been living in. Well this week I planned to wear my new animal print Superga tennis shoes with a denim skirt and bare legs, however the weather totally tricked me with its bright blue skies and sunshine that was absolutely freezing if you stood still for too long, so I decided that a pair of skinny jeans would be the best idea.

I still did brave it without a coat, instead I paired my laid-back look with a three-quarter sleeve crop jacket that I picked up from New Look last year in the sale. This beauty can be teamed with nearly anything – as a cover up for a dress on a night out to being paired with a flirty skater skirt and even as the perfect jacket to wear with jeans.

I might have been a little disappointed not to get the denim skirt out but these G-Star Raw GS01 jeans are so comfortable for skinny jeans. Not only is the dark untreated look of the denim perfection, I do love jeans that make me look slimmer, I also love the fit with the twisted seams and the gathering at the hem. It takes a lot for me to stray far from Donna Ida’s high-waisted jeans but these really do feel great on.

Finishing up my casual look is the ‘Wavy Gravy’ look from blow dry bar Hershesons who were at a press day I attended. They transformed my poker straight locks in less than 30 minutes into this classic tousled beach meets rock’n’roll look and I absolutely love it. Much like Blow, who I have reviewed on my blog, Hershesons has a set menu of amazing styles from the ‘Carlam’ grungy plait to the sleek ‘Smooth Wave’ and ‘The Swank’ billed as the most perfect undone up-do. I can’t wait to make my way through the menu!!!

How would you style these fab animal printed Superga sneakers?

Winter Warmer: My Favourite Lands’ End Duffle Coat

With the weather on the turn again I thought I would share my new favourite coat from Lands’ End. Well actually it isn’t that new, I got it before Christmas, but the weather just hasn’t really been cold enough to wear it so I am pleased that the winter freeze has finally arrived. These pictures were taken last week in Cambridge, such a gorgeous town for a walk after brunch I love going down to the river and it was nice to do my style posts, while out and about.

Let me tell you more about my amazing coat, not only is it my first ever duffle I know I must have been an unloved child, it is super warm, which is needed as I am constantly cold, I am completely in love with the navy blue shade and it has tons of pockets. It is also one of the most comfortable coats I have worn in a long time, a great length both in the body and the arms, and most of all I love the choice of poppers, toggles and zipper – I know I am that sad!!!

Last year’s winter coat I was constantly loosing a button off my River Island military-inspired coat, and in turn was super disappointed, but this Lands’ End duffle is a classic that will stand the test of time, not only in style but also quality it is made to such a high standard.

This is a coat that I have to keep on a hanger to keep its shape and when spring finally arrives it will be packaged up to protect for next winter.

Do you have a winter coat that you bring out year-after-year?

Wearing: Wool duffle coat from Lands’ End, G-Star Raw 3301 jeans, and a New Look bird-print scarf.

Cute Alert: My G-Star Raw Varsity G-No

I love it when brands do collectibles, I love it even more when they make it a regular deal, and I completely fall in love with them when they are this cute. Let me introduce you to fashion brand G-Star Raw’s collectible rhino, G-No.

These little beauties were first introduced in 2007, and each season a new limited edition is added to the range. My first, and definitely not my last, is the eight in the series and he is sporting an adorable G-Star Varsity jacket.

What I love about my G-No has to be the details, with a bite taken from his ear, missing one eye, and the two-toned denim this is one special rhino that needs a little love and I will sure do that!!

Well my G-No has found a spot in my room and is standing guard over all my Barbie’s, and I think he needs a friend, yep that’s right on the G-Star website they have some of the previous editions so I think I might need to back-date my collect. I am loving the yellow one and The Motor 5620.

#4: RAW Essentials G-No is made out of yellow cooked wool, the same fabric that is being used in the Essential Coat from the RAW Essentials apparel line

#5: Party G-No is working a waistcoat

#6: Ramblas G-No is a nude rhino with raw tattoos

#7: Motor 5620 G-No inspired by the men’s line of denim

I seriously want them all, and I have to find out what #1, #2 and #3 look like.

Denim Challenge: G-Star Raw 3301 Jeans

A few months back I asked on Twitter what everyone’s favourite jeans was, as I find that I am constantly battling to find that perfect pair, and G-Star was one of the labels recommended, so I was thrilled when they got in touch and asked if I wanted to check out their collection. They are a brand that are renowned for doing great men’s denim, and as I haven’t owned a pair of G-Star Raw’s before it was the perfect brand to start with on my denim challenge.

I have to admit I have varied denim needs: I love the skinny, as it is perfect with boots, but I find it is a hard challenge to find ones that fit perfectly; I also prefer jeans that don’t sit too low, I have admitted to myself that they only work when you are in your early twenties or super thin; and even if slightly uncool I quite like a boot cut/flare fit as well, they are just great for comfort and are flattering. I know hard to please aren’t I!!!

Well G-Star was certainly up to the challenge: they have a great selection of skinny, straight, boot, loose and slim cut styles, as well as great choice of washes ranging from my favourite dark blues and blacks to weather-blasted shades and white. Also the 3D technology they use to cut the styles is said to flatter any shape. I totally felt like a kid in a sweetie shop there was so many pairs to choose from.

I was instantly drawn to a pair of electric blue super skinnies, they were more than just a gorgeous shade they were so soft it actually felt like I was wearing leggings, which is perfect for the summer but I need winter-proof jeans!!! With that in mind I tried on the classic 3301’s and I was in love!!

These jeans have everything I look for: dark wash, mid-waist, flattering on the legs, and best of all they don’t need a belt to wear!!

The dark wash is just perfection and hides a multitude of sins, which is helped out by the minimal stitching, and the shaping of the pockets that make your bum look amazing *trust me*. I have 33″ legs so I do find it difficult to find pairs long enough, while maintaining their shape, and these beauties are amazing on.

They are the boot-cut style but they have more of a kick than normal. I felt that they were more flared than anything and will work on a night out with heels, and wearing to work or even for a spot of shopping in a comfortable pair of ankle boots. They are the most comfortable pair of jeans I have worn in a long time, which weren’t too tight or too loose they just fitted perfectly.

I am so happy with my jeans that I am sure you will be seeing them in a few style posts very soon!!!

After checking out the jeans I had a quick peep to see what else the G-Star Raw Covent Garden store had to offer and I was super surprised by all the gorgeous knitwear and coats. I have added this grey Battle Cardigan to my wishlist, also how amazing does it look with elbow-length leather gloves!!!

I also love this Oxford knit Bell Cape, it comes complete with the most adorable G-Star badge.
Fancy trying out which G-Star fits you best? Well this Thursday, October 27, the brand is hosting Women’s Night with InStyle at their Covent Garden store. All you need to do is RSVP here, and then you could be styled by InStyle’s executive fashion director Jaye Thompson and senior fashion editor Natalie Hartley. It promises to be a great night of shopping, fashion tips, pampering, music and drinks.
