Cover Loving: Three Very Different Diane Kruger Covers

I do love it when Diane Kruger has a movie coming out – not only do I get to see some fab red carpet looks,  **check out her Los Angeles premiere look** but finally there is a reason for magazines to put my favourite girl crush on their covers.

For April, Diane has really got around, gracing the cover of not one, but three different magazines, on three different continents – her reach is most certainly global. First up we have Canadian fashion mag, Flare, with Diane looking adorable in a Bottega Veneta dress, then we have a polished flawless looking Diane for Interview Germany, and then sadly we have a bizarre barley recognisable Diane on the cover of Australia magazine, Madison – what have they done to her face and hair?

Shot by Autumn De Wilde, the Flare cover is just so pretty, I am in love with her Bottega Veneta vintage-inspired tea dress from the spring/summer 2013 collection, which has been styled perfectly with those tri-colour Christian Louboutin heels and the insanely cute Louis Vuitton headband, you may recognise it from one of Kerry Washington’s fab red carpet looks earlier in the year, and of course Diane is carrying a Chanel handbag to finish her look.

The only thing I really don’t like from this cover is the insanely huge cover line ‘hello spring’ right across her – really is that going to sell the magazine more than if it wasn’t there???

The rest of the editorial is just as good, you see Diane wearing Miu Miu, Rochas, Marc Jacobs and more Chanel, as well as posing with a cute kitty.

I love the vintage-inspired Flare cover, but I completely adore the Markus Jans shot Interview cover, Diane does flawless so well and this just beautiful. Striped back and polished, this is one hell of a profile cover, I love everything from her eyes to her barely there make-up, and even the position of her hands – this really does show off her modelling background. I really can’t wait to see the rest of the editorial.

However, Australia magazine, Madison didn’t quite impress me like the other two titles. From the neck down this cover is divine, I love the pale blue dress, I even love the flirty touch of her hitching up the skirt, but I just can’t understand why they made her look a little crazy. That hair, the make-up, the appalling OTT photoshop to her face – it really doesn’t look like Diane or even pretty. Why, Madison, why???

Which cover would you go out and buy?

Cover Loving: Charlotte Free For Flare

As soon as I saw this cover I couldn’t help but repeat the word ‘Beetlejuice’ three times, seriously I sometimes think I’m programmed by the movies I love, but wow what a cover from model of the moment Charlotte Free.

Flare always seem to get it right whether it is an A-list celebrity or a model cover and this is one of my favourite model covers as it is showing off her personality as well as the styling, which totally makes me wish I had skinny legs so I could pull of these ‘Beetlejuice’ striped black and white Genetic jeans.

I love the combination of the Comme des Garçons jacket, the dotty printed Equipment shirt and those Louis Vuitton platforms and I reckon we might see some variations on this paraded at London Fashion Week in street style shots.

Even with the pink dip-dye hair, yes one hair trend I would love to see the back off, I love this cover as Charlotte really does ooze cool in her candy floss pink tips.

So what do you think of the 5’7″ model – is she the next Kate Moss?

Cover Loving: Rose Byrne Looks Gorgeous For Flare

I have said it several times before but Flare is a fab magazine and they really do produce gorgeous covers, and the August issue with the stunning Rose Byrne is another example of a great high-fashion cover.

Shot by Max Abadian, Rose is a picture of elegance wearing a stunning red lace Marchesa dress from the autumn/winter 2012, which if you are thinking it looks familiar it is probably because it is the same one that Jennifer Lawrence wore on her Hunger Games promo tour, and it is quite similar to the one that Blake Lively wore last year at CinemaCon.

The accompanying editorial spread is just as stunning, Rose looks incredible in a variety of autumn looks from labels such as Christopher Kane, Marc Jacobs, and Balenciaga, styled by Elizabeth Cabral. I am also loving her make-up, her Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in shade 01 on the cover is perfection.

In the interview, Rose discusses her off-duty style, red carpet preparation, as well as talking about that gorgeous Elie Saab jumpsuit that she wore to the 2012 SAG Awards, which I think kind of started a red carpet trend on Elie Saab jumpsuits, and her sparkly Vivienne Westwood Oscar dress.

On her Elie Saab jumpsuit at the 2012 SAG Awards: “When I wore that jumpsuit, Penny [her stylist] and I fully discussed that you can’t please everybody, that it will probably be loved by Vogue and hated by People. It’s just clothes, it should be fun. It’s been good, to take risks knowing that’s the reality of it.”

On her Vivienne Westwood dress at the 2012 Academy Awards:
“[Vivienne Westwood] worked so well with us altering it, it ended up totally different from the original dress.”

On preparing for red carpet: “You’ve got to get your stamina ready. Particularly for an awards ceremony, that’s a different league. But I have my group around me, and it’s fun. I think for the red carpet in general it’s important to keep it youthful. A lot of people can look very dressed up and old and severe. That’s sort of my worst fear, is erring on that side.”

On her pre-red carpet ritual: “Try to get a good night’s sleep, don’t go out at all the night before. In the morning, get some exercise, for mental health. Then it’s just fun.”

On her off-duty style: “I go through phases. But I mostly dress in high street clothing, like Urban Outfitters. Every day, really.”

Cover Loving: Nicole Richie For Flare

I was talking about how amazing the Canadian fashion magazine Flare is during London Fashion Week, as well as my disappointment that the hard copy is still not available to buy here, which makes it even worse when I see amazing covers like this!!!

Nicole Richie looks fantastic as Flare’s April coverstar wearing a jacket, top and a skirt by Roberto Cavalli, and of course keeping up the good work as brand ambassador for her label she also works a ring by House of Harlow 1960.

Not only does Nicole look stunning, but I am loving the combination of the mint-green background and the shimmering beauty that is that Roberto Cavalli skirt – seriously WOW!!! Not only do I love all the exquisite embroidery detail around the waistband, but I love how the large gold sequins captures a rainbow of shades.

This is one stylish cover and I have to admit I am super jealous of all you Canadian readers out there that can pick up this magazine from March 12 – lucky buggers!!!
