LFW SS13: My London Fashion Week Essentials…Well Some Of Them

LFWEssentials5 LFW SS13: My London Fashion Week Essentials...Well Some Of Them %tag

Today is London Fashion Week eve, which can only mean that I am in a slight panic over my wardrobe options, doing last minute shopping, organising my schedule, chasing last minute tickets, and most importantly laying out all the essentials I need to carry around with me.

I wont bore you in detail in how much I carry around, think of a packhorse and you won’t be too far out, I generally pack everything the first day and each day my bag gets lighter and lighter as I just can’t carry it!!!

First up, the bag, each season I choose one core bag that I use more often than not, and I mix in a few of my favourites as the mood takes me. This season I have been treated with a Knomo leather bag, I am planning on doing a more detailed post about this incredible bag, but here are the highlights – this bag has its own padded laptop compartment, it can fit in all these essentials and more, it is cute, I love that she is called ‘Alice’, and I don’t think I have ever had a more chic laptop bag. This beauty is perfect for fashion week.

LFWEssentials8 LFW SS13: My London Fashion Week Essentials...Well Some Of Them %tagGadgets and technology are high on my essentials list, I definately need to stay connected throughout fashion week and these help me along the way. I have my laptop, my iPad – new toy that I adore, my HTC One X, which I can’t live without, my incredible Olympus camera, and I picked up a tiny gadget from eBay that allows me to transfer piccies to my iPad for easy upload on the go. That will all keep me on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

From technology to old school, I can’t leave the house without my Filofax, I had been using my bright yellow beauty, but then Filofax asked if I would like one of the new Temperley for Filofax Violet organisers to try out, which isn’t even in the stores yet, and of course I jumped at the chance – this is a gorgeous diary. Then I have my new ‘bunting’ notepad that my friend Sarah sent me, which goes perfectly with my Bic two-way pen, I do love a pink pen, and I don’t leave to an event without my Fashionista Barbie business cards – well you don’t know who you might meet!!!

Rushing around for 10 hours straight means you do need to refresh your make-up, as I have such a large bag I always go for a colourful cosmetic pouch, and you don’t get brighter than the amazing range from Candy Store - inside I just carry the essentials foundation, mascara, eye shadow, bronzer and concealer.

Changing conditions is what you have to get used to with fashion week, different venues means different temperatures, so I always carry a scarf, this season I have gone with a horse print. The last few essentials range from Carmex to handcream, headache tablets and then I have my new Barbie coffee cuff from Clippy, yes this season at London Fashion Week even my cuppa will be fashionable!!!

I have a hectic few days coming up, so Fashionista Barbie might be a little slow on the updates, I will try between shows but my schedule is packed this season with some amazing backstage access and I have even got tickets to Temperley London and House of Holland that I have never received before so I am super excited.

Just finishing up this post and I realised I haven’t actually put my tickets in my fashion week essentials – now that would be crazy to forget them!!!

What would your fashion week essentials be?

Shopping: All About The Jubilee

jubilee Shopping: All About The Jubilee %tag

I love a good celebration, whether it is my birthday **hint, hint it’s this weekend**, a wedding, or an anniversary, so The Queen’s DIamond Jubilee is right up my street. Not only am I becoming a little bit of a royalist but I am loving that so many fashion brands have got behind the Union Jack, which if I do say so myself is by far the prettiest flag!!!

There are so many cool Jubilee-related items out there and I am loving places like Selfridges and Liberty’s that have put together dedicated Jubilee pop-ups and gorgeous window displays. It was hard narrowing down my choices for this special Jubilee shopping edit, but here are my 15 must-have/wishlist purchases:

1. Tatty Devine Crown Tiara, £66 exclusive to Selfridges – this is the perfect finishing touch to any Jubilee outfit.

2. Thomas Sabo Crown Charm, £59 – I am a Thomas Sabo addict, I love a good charm and this beauty complete with a real diamond would be the perfect addition to any bracelet.

3. House of Holland Tea Towel, £25 from Browns – leave it to Henry Holland to bring cheeky to the Jubilee – I love this slogan tea towel.

4. Ice-Watch Union Jack Watch£75 - put together my new fav watch brand and a patriotic face and I am there!!!

5. Nails Inc Jubilee Crystal Colour, £15 – inspired by the Union Jack this is a fun nail varnish featuring red, blue and silver glitter, it also comes with a crystal cap and a patriotic British themed gift box.

6. Aspinal of London Jubilee Clutch, £595 – OK granted very pricey but very pretty, this clutch is limited to just 50 and each one is numbered. I love the studded Union Jack and the iconic queen’s head silhouetted in vibrant colours.

7. Topshop Corgi Shopper, £10 – well I couldn’t miss out including The Queen’s favourite dog now could I – plus if you are a little fed up of the red, white and blue colour-scheme this could be perfect for you.

8. Stella & Dot Elizabeth Bracelet, £26 – this bracelet is not only cute but 20% of the proceeds will go directly to The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.

9. Simeon Farrar Great Britain Kitten T-shirt, £45 – I am a big fan of Simeon Farrar and this is the cutest Jubilee-inspired piece that I’ve seen a cool kitten with punk rock on his paws – seriously, what’s not to love!!!

10. Filofax Jack Vintage Personal Organiser, from £17 – want something patriotic and practical? Well this Filofax is perfect, comes in two sizes pocket or personal – I love the matt finish.

11. Pretty Ballerinas Commemorative Crown Slipper, £189 – love these suede slippers that pay tribute to The Queen with an elegant crown motif on the toes.

12. Maggie Angus Silver Queen’s Jubilee Crown Necklace, £20 – I have to admit I didn’t realise how pretty crown’s were until looking at all the Jubilee pieces, this quirky silver-mirrored acrylic necklace is fun. It also comes in gold but I think I prefer the silver.

13. Ted Baker Lowbow Purse Union Jack, £79.20 at John Lewis – bows, Union Jacks and a dachshund I am sold!!! How sweet is this leather purse?

14. Alexander McQueen Silk Chiffon Shell Patchwork ‘God Save McQueen’ Scarf, £445 – want to rebel a little against the monarchy? Well not work this Union Jack-printed McQueen scarf.

15. Barbie Collector Royal Wedding William and Catherine Doll Set, £66.19 – I am sad that The Queen doesn’t have her own Barbie, I would have loved to add that to my collection, but Mattel did do one to celebrate Will & Kate’s wedding. I felt at £99 it was a little pricey but not you save over £30 I think I might need to buy it.

Are you as excited as me for the Jubilee?

Style Challenge: Filofax and Fashionista Barbie

FilofaxStyle1 Style Challenge: Filofax and Fashionista Barbie %tag

A couple of weeks ago Filofax asked me how would I style one of their funky colourful organisers for a cool project they were doing with other fashion bloggers, and I have to admit I like a good challenge so I thought I would give it ago.

I had the choice of blue, pink, green or yellow, and I have to admit just the choosing which Filofax was hard but I decided instead of going for my go-to pink I would go full on summery with the gorgeous Apex Personal Organiser in yellow, I just thought I could have more fun with a bright colour.

So as my organiser has a textured finished with the crosshatched cover and a smooth, matt interior, I tried to represent that in my outfit by working this gorgeous dress from New Look with its pleated skirt, and silky finish to the bodice, and because my organiser has a contrasting wrap-around elastic closure I added a tan belt to match my wedges, I thought yellow would have been a tad too much. Finishing off my look is my signature Barbie necklace that I adore and a sparkly Swarovski bracelet.

So what do you think – do you like the red and yellow combination? I thought it would make a change from going pink!!!

As with all style challenges there is a vote element, which makes me feel a little like I am back in high school and hoping that I am the popular, but if you do ‘like‘ my outfit then head on over to Filofax’s Facebook page and hit ‘like‘ on my picture. The blogger who gets the most ‘likes‘ will receive five Filofax organisers to give away to their readers – so if you fancy a funky diary then get liking.

I also want to say a big good luck to my fellow style challenge bloggers who all look amazing with their Filofax’s. I have already voted for Ella from Coco’s Tea Party who styled hers with a fab DVF bag, Reem of Five Five Fabulous who looks smoking hot in her sporty look, as well as one of my favourite style bloggers Frassy who just looks uber-glamorous in a pink and blue outfit. I am definitely up against tough competition!!!

Dear Santa: What I Would Love For Christmas

FBWishlist Dear Santa: What I Would Love For Christmas %tag

Dear Santa

I have been a very good girl this year, I have to admit it has had its ups and downs, a few scary moments, but overall a very good year. As I do every year I have selected below my top treats I would love to be surprised with under my Christmas tree. Listed in no particular order I of course had to include my favourite doll, Barbie, as well as my love for photography, jewellery and travel.

Have yourself a very Merry Christmas and send my love to Mrs Claus and Rudolf!!

Best wishes

Danielle xx

p.s. don’t forget to pop by for your mince pie on Christmas Eve xx

1. Barbie, Pink in Pantone Doll, $49.99 – I am a lover of Pantone, don’t ask me why, so add in Barbie and my favourite colour chips and I am giddy!!! This is Barbie’s signature colour, Pantone 219, and I love her platinum blonde hair and white peep-toe heels.

2. Filofax, Heart Gift Set, £35 - I may be a Blackberry addict but I do love a diary and I am thinking that it is time to head on over back to Filofax after seeing this cute heart print pocket-sized organiser, add in a mini pen and I am sold!!!

3. Assouline, Barbie by Yona Zeldis McDonough Book, £30, Liberty – this book follows on from success of the book published for Barbie’s 50th anniversary, which I was lucky enough to receive last year, and if this cover is anything to go by the images inside are going to be amazing.

4. Lomography, Diana Mini Twilight Blue & Flash, £99 – I am newbie to Lomography and I was recommended this model and I just love that it has been inspired by a 1960′s model, complete with a retro oversized flash – how adorable does it look. I love photography and this takes gorgeous vintage-effect images.

5. Thomas Sabo, Panda Charm, £58 – I am a charm-o-holic and it seems with the arrival of the Pandas in Edinburgh I keep finding cute black and white items and this would love great next to my Barbie charms!!

6. Luxe City Guides, Bespoke Black Box£38 - I collect travel guides, I just love reading them from places I have been and want to go, so this bespoke box set is perfect. It contains a personalised selection of five guides and there is a lot of choose from, I think I would like: Milan, Hong Kong, Stockholm, Berlin and Istanbul all places on my travel hit-list!!

7. Fairytales & Hidden Notes, Lace Collar, £12 - I love a Peter Pan collar on dresses and I have been looking for a lace one to wear under a blouse, and this one would jazz up any t-shirt as well if worn as a necklace.

What will you be asking Santa for this Christmas?
