Doll Loving: Barbie Gets A Christmas Makeover

You know by now how I love Barbie‘s fashion makeovers, I was so giddy about her transformation by London Fashion Week designers that I bought two, I couldn’t order the Coach Barbie quick enough, and it took me a year but I finally got all three Christian Louboutin beauties for my collection. Well now I am lusting over these five one-off Barbie dolls who have undergone a Christmas makeover by London milliner Stephen Jones.

The hat maker has not only created fabulous headwear for Barbie, but full on Christmas-inspired couture looks from the velvet ‘Santa Baby’ mini dress to a red carpet worthy sparkly gown for ‘Snow Globe’ Barbie, as well as a fishtail frock adorned with holly for ‘Happy Holly’ Barbie, a ‘Christmas Tree’ look, and ‘Toffee Ice’ Barbie – a sexy Rudolph on ice!!!

“Barbie is the most fabulous private client. She came into the salon for her Christmas morning hat and left with five glamorous outfits! Barbie and I have the same design vision; we love tradition, but have an eye for the future, ” Stephen Jones

I am kind obsessed by them all – I actually can’t decide on my favourite. ‘Toffee Ice’ looks adorable and sexy in her antlers, red nose and faux fur outfit, while ‘Snow Globe’ Barbie is red carpet ready in her gown with the quirky addition of the snow globe headgear.

If I had to get just one though I think it would have to be between ‘Christmas Tree’ Barbie who actually lights up and ‘Happy Holly’, which is also Stephen Jones’ favourite, as it is just so exquisite constructed.

Happy Holly Barbie – “This is my personal favourite, using the contrast of soft velvet and spiky holly leaves. Barbie also has her very own pet Robin to give her a Christmas peck,” Stephen Jones.

The exclusive Barbies by Stephen Jones are available at Selfridges from November 15, priced at £250 each.

Festive Fun: Rebecca Minkoff’s Holiday Card

The festive season is all about adding a little fun and humour into the craziness of buying presents and eating your weight in chocolates and Rebecca Minkoff certainly has done that with her video holiday card.

Filmed to Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, no I am not fed up of it either, Rebecca Minkoff has gathered her fashionable pals including The Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine, blogger Bryan Boy, and the gorgeous Hilary Rhoda to create a very fashionable greeting card.

What I love about this video other than its smile factor, has to be The Man Repeller’s amazing ‘Jews Do It For 8 Days’ sweatshirt – I totally need one!!!

Now crack out the yule log, grab a glass of eggnog and sing along to this adorable festive fashion video.

Festive Cheer: Barney’s New York Electric Holiday

electric-holidayI have been meaning to blog this cute festive video from Barney’s New York for a few weeks now and I kind of got distracted by the holiday season. If you haven’t seen it yet it is well worth a watch as it features some of fashions elite including Franca Sozzani, Sarah Jessica Parker, Glenda Bailey, and Cathy Horyn in the five-minute clip.

What’s so magical about this campaign is that Minnie Mouse is no different from any other girl – don’t we all daydream over owning a Lanvin dress, going to Paris to have our picture taken by the likes of Steven Klein and Mario Sorrenti, being sprayed with Tinker Bell magic dust to create the perfect model body and then walk in a fashion show wearing designs by Alber Elbaz and Nicolas Ghesquière…well I certainly do.

This is just a fun campaign for the holidays that I truly adore.

Festive Windows: Alexander McQueen Fantasy Box

London retailers really have put together some amazing visual treats this festive season, I loved the Swarovski forest at Harrods, Selfridges’ interpretation of a white Christmas, and Liberty’s 12 days of Christmas. When I walked by Alexander McQueen’s boutique on Old Bond Street I was completely blown away by its fantasy box festive display. If Santa grants me one wish this year it would have to be a McQueen dress!!!!

Festive Treat: My Favourite Celeb Christmas Card

There have been a lot of celebrity Christmas cards making the rounds this holiday season – yesterday I shared with you my favourite family portrait courtesy of the Kardashian Klan, Twitter got all excited about the Beckhams card, and even Heidi and Seal have released their family Christmas tree portrait. But for me the best celeb card this holiday season has to be this fun-yet-sexy caricature from Fergie and Josh Duhamel.

Fergie is rocking one sexy Santa outfit complete with reindeer antlers, while Josh is one hot snowman, but the stars of this holiday card has to be their two dogs, Zoe and Meatloaf – so cute!!!!

One celeb who did come close to receiving the honour of best festive moment was Kiefer Sutherland, with this rather funny Twitpic, just imagine if he had accidental tripped while staging this funny moment.

Christmas Card: Kardashian Klan Work Bow Ties

I am not sure what my fascination is with the Kardashian-Jenner-Odom-Disick Klan, but I have to admit I do look forward to seeing their Christmas card, mainly because they really do go all out. This year the family decided to work monochrome and bow ties in a very chic-yet-moody masculine vibe, with one except and that of course had to be Kris who stands in the centre in her gorgeous teal Dolce & Gabbana dress.

Styled by Monica Rose for the third year running, the theme was ‘a bit girl meets boy’ and I kind of like it. Bow ties are always very chic, and I do think women in tuxedos looks hot, and even the men of the family look amazing, including a very confident looking Rob in his Ermenegildo Zegna tuxedo.

The stand outs for me of course have to be Kim in that gorgeous sequinned Rachel Zoe blazer, teamed with wide-leg Chloe trousers and a Jill Pineda black faux leather bow tie. With Kim standing alone it does make me wonder if they had to photoshoot poor Kris Humpries out!!!!

Kylie and Kendall also worked it!!! I love that even though there was a masculine theme, and only Kris could work colour, Kendall the model of the family was able to wear that stunning Theyskens’ Theory gown – completely showed of her fab figure, while still maintaining the tuxedo feel. Her sister Kylie looks gorgeous in a Paula Ka tuxedo, my fav look of the girls in tuxs – using black ribbon as her bow tie is just genius!!! What this card and their looks really showed to me is that 2012 is going to be all about the Jenner sisters!!

Not to be out-done by sister Kim, Khloe also rocked a sequinned tuxedo jacket this time by Dolce & Gabbana – I think her pants win though as I do love Lanvin tuxedo trousers. Sad though as Khloe is the only one not working a bow tie – a sequinned beauty to match her jacket would have looked amazing.

But with every family portrait there is always one trying too hard and this year it has to be Kourtney – what was she thinking with those sheer socks??? It is a shame really as if she had worked that gorgeous Nikki Rich bolero, Muubaa leather skirt and Dolce & Gabbana bow tie with some sparkly Miu Miu heels – and ditched the belt, her look may have been one of the best. However, it seems she has been up-staged by a very moody Mason.

As much as I like this card, I do wonder why they are all looking so glum on a Christmas card – and seriously what the hell are they all staring at???!!!???

Oh and I nearly forgot this year’s Christmas card shot by Nick Saglimbeni doesn’t just come in 2D, nope the card what also snapped in 3D and sent out with special 3D glasses – how will they out-do that next year?

Festive Windows: Selfridges White Christmas

I love it when Christmas windows do something a little different, and for this festive season Selfridges on Oxford Street in London have turned all their windows into an enchanted music box. The all white themed windows based on Christmas carols are exquisite, full of angelic touches, halos, festive crackers, bells, and the best bit of all is that each window plays a different tune.

One of my favourite movies is White Christmas and I love this display, shame there isn’t any Barbie’s like last year – but great windows all the same!! What does shine through though is how fashion focused this year’s window is – white really is gorgeous!!
