Editorial Loving: Vogue Paris – Real-Life Designer Barbie Dolls

It has been a while since I have actually posted something on my blog that hasn’t had something to do with my wedding, sorry about that but I hope you understand that it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I just had to share. So, before I bombard you with photographs from my UK celebrations that fingers crossed you all want to see, I thought I would showcase this amazing editorial from the latest issue of Vogue Paris with real-life designer Barbie dolls.

I have always dreamed of a collection full of designer Barbie dolls, I have a Karl Lagerfeld, a Dior, a Kate Spade one, complete with a little dog, a Coach doll with the cutest bag I wish I would steal, as well as a trio of Christian Louboutin dolls with better footwear than me, so I literally gasped aloud when I saw this beautiful and creative editorial taking inspiration from the Moschino Barbie collection and dressing up each real-life doll in looks from the likes of Valentino, Chanel, Gucci and Miu Miu.

What I love most about this editorial shot by Giampaolo Sgura has to be the fact that models Elizabeth Erm and Magdalena Frackowiak have been shot like Barbie dolls inside their boxes, it is as though they are sat on a shelf in a toy store waiting for me to take them home.

The styling by creative duo Claire Dhelens and Celia Azoulay is outstanding, not only are they showcasing the designer’s latest collections but they really do illustrate what the brand is about – from the butterflies and flowers of Valentino to the David Bowie vibes of Saint Laurent, and the fun-girl pompoms of Miu Miu, and don’t get me started on the equestrian chicness of Gucci, I basically need Mattel to make that happen stat!!

It is hard to pick a favourite, I do love the total Barbie vibes of Moschino, as well as the accessories of the Louis Vuitton doll, she even has her very own doll-sized trunk, seriously swooning over that, and a Ralph Lauren air-stewardess dressed all in gold is super fun, but I think my heart belongs to Chanel, did you see her make-up, her pearl jewellery and her handbags.

It seems Barbie is very much in fashion at the moment and I love this creative-twist on showcasing the latest collections, it must have taken a lot of hours to build the sets and to meticulously attach all the accessories, and I just love that the models are such great dolls!!!

Which real-life Barbie doll is your favourite?

iHeartRadio: Lady Gaga Lady Like In Moschino

Who: Lady Gaga

Where: At the iHeartRadio Music Festival held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas

Wearing: A Moschino black crepe dress with waist ruffle and bow detail from the autumn/winter 2011 collection, Gaga finished off her look with Fendi shades, black envelope clutch, elbow-length leather gloves, striking diamond jewellery and black round toe heels

Verdict: This look certainly sees Lady Gaga channelling her inner lady like chic with what I can only describe as her Breakfast at Tiffany’s moment. Come on it can’t just be me who instantly thought of Aubrey Hepburn, I just love Gaga with her hair styled updo, and she really does pull off lady like very well.

Anyone else loving her feminine look at the moment?

Masquerade Ball: Dita Von Teese Teases In Mr Pearl

Who: Dita Von Teese

Where: Paris Vogue’s 90th Anniversary Party at Hotel Pozzo di Borgo in Paris

Wearing: A custom-made 18″ corseted riding coat by Paris-based couture designer Mr Pearl paired with lace stockings from the Dita Collection Secrets, a Fendi clutch and Christian Louboutin heels

Verdict: Every ball needs Dita to bring something different, I love that she didn’t go for a gown like everyone else she teased us with a gorgeous tailored coat dress. Of course she kept true to her style, showed off her tiny waist, showed us her stockings and finished it off with striking red lippy.

The only thing, and it is a very slight thing *actually being very picky*, I think I was expected a more amazing mask. I get it a black mask framed on a handle is a classic look – but how cool would Dita have looked with an extravagant feathered number? She has the attitude that something outrageous needs to pull off. But hey I still love the outfit – Dita looks gorgeous.

Shop Her Style: Lo Bosworth In A French Connection Dress

Pic: French Connection

Who: The Hills Lo Bosworth

Where: At French Connection’s AW10 collection launch party at Soho House in Los Angeles

Wearing: A ruby silk-georgette long-sleeved embellished dress teamed with a Chanel bag and Fendi peep-toe bow heels

Verdict: I love the beaded detail on this dress but for me it has to be the colour the ruby is amazing. How cute does Lo look and her legs – wow – finishing The Hills has done wonders for her. This is a super flattering dress which I also think would totally work for the day as well with flats.

Buy Her Style: The Rebecca Beads Dress from French Connection is available in five shades: black, tanya blue, port, winter grey and ruby (as above) and surprisingly it is only £140 – great party dress.

AW10 Campaign: Fendi Goes Retro For Autumn

Pic: Fendi

It seems that all the fashion houses have pulled out all the stops for their autumn ad campaigns – and Fendi is no different. Whereas we’ve seen lots of black and white, quirky, supermodels and futuristic campaigns – for Fendi it is all about the retro vibe.

The campaign stars Anja Rubik and Baptitse Giabiconi, as an Italian couple in downtown New York, shot by Karl Lagerfeld. You’ll spot these images in August magazines.

The shoes in this campaign have blown me away.

Cannes: Carey Mulligan Promotes Wall Street

Who: Carey Mulligan

Where: Photocall for Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps at the Cannes Film Festival

Wearing: RM by Roland Mouret  paired with Fendi heels

Verdict: I love this structured dress on Carey – the belt and pleating detailing on the waist is really cute. For me though it is all about those fierce Fendi cut-out heels – love!!

Where: Wall Street premiere

Wearing: A navy Azzaro gown with silver bow detailing collar

Verdict: I love the simplicity of this frock, Carey has such a grace about her and I like it – would have been nice to see a piccie of just her and Shia though, I think they make a cute couple
