I was a little worried that Cannes 2015 had peaked a little early, day one and two were amazing, then Diane Kruger came to town and another high and then I haven’t really seen anything to wow me, lots of beautiful but nothing stunning enough to make the blog, until Emily Blunt who is in the French Riviera promoting her film ‘Sicario’. The actress has donned three looks and each one has been divine, especially her dazzling custom Stella McCartney gown.
So the award season is certainly in full swing, which I am loving, first up was the Golden Globes that was semi-disappointing this year, but thankfully this year’s Critics’ Choice Movie Awards really did make up for some of the boring looks from last Sunday, I am talking about you Emily Blunt!!!
I know I normally do individual red carpet posts, but as I am late on this as I was actually travelling when the awards were taking place, I thought I would just share my five favourite looks, and trust me they are all beautiful.
First up we have Angelina Jolie who looked like a million dollars in her silver silk Atelier Versace gown. Granted this isn’t an original look, but if it isn’t broken why fix it comes to mind, but hey at least it isn’t black. I love how this gown flows and how it adds curves to Angie’s tiny frame with its fluty sleeves, draped bodice and plunging neckline. This gown is perfection with a real Hollywood movie star appeal and I adore it.
Next is Diane Kruger in a dramatic blue and white floral print strapless Naeem Khan gazar gown from the pre-fall 2015 collection. I love Diane’s red carpet style but this is elegance on another level, I really love the stunning china-blue print, even if some of my Twitter followers felt it looked like a vintage plate design. I am not sure if I prefer this look to her gorgeous Golden Globes Emilia Wickstead gown but it is still beautiful and such a great award ceremony look.
Then we have Michelle Monaghan showing off her sexy-yet-elegant side in this stunning black Elie Saab gown from the pre-fall 2015 collection. Normally one to showcase colour on the red carpet, I am so pleased that she opted for the understated black, as I just feel that with the sheer lace bodice and slits to the skirt that it just works better in black. The fit of this gown is just perfect on her as well, and I love that she wore her hair up and kept her make-up to a minimum. This is simply glamorous.
For my fourth look I have gone for Jennifer Aniston as not only was I shocked that she wasn’t wearing black, I love that she took a fashion risk and went for a sexy Gucci tuxedo in a gorgeous burnt-sienna hue. I was disappointed with her yawn of a gown to the Golden Globes and I have to wonder why she didn’t wear this as she would have certainly stood out.
There is something about a woman in a tuxedo and I love that instead of going for a safer option by wearing this in black she went for it in red, it totally paid off as she looks hot!!! I know a lot has been spoken about the fact that she was on the red carpet for the first time in years with Angelina Jolie but I think this look is so different from her silver gown that it stops comparisons and that was very clever.
For some this had a little bit too much plunge, I have to disagree I think the neckline and opting for no blouse really works and I love that she accessorised her décolletage with a couple of gold necklaces. Another love from this look has to be those flared-leg trousers, they are so flattering and really give her super long legs.
My final look that I adored at the Critics’ Choice Awards had to be Emily Blunt, like with Jennifer her Golden Globes look didn’t excite me, and it is because I knew that she could do so much better like with this red embroidered lace Emilio Pucci halter-neck gown. How stunning is this, if it was in white it would make a great wedding gown with those sheer chiffon inserts.
I do love the colour choice, it adds a touch of sex appeal to the elegance glamour of the embroidered gown and I love her wavy hair, it all just looks so effortless. Also Emily and her husband John Krasinski really are leading the Hollywood pack for the cutest couple award.
Which was your favourite look from this year’s Critics’ Choice Movie Awards?

Where: At the 18th Critics’ Choice Movie Awards held in Santa Monica, California
Verdict: Known for her simple-yet-stunning looks on the red carpet, do you remember that vibrant Alexander McQueen last year, well this another gorgeous dress that is made into a show-stopping number as soon as you see the back, like with Jessica Chastain’s Prada gown.
I love that this dress fell at her ankle as it added a different dimension to the gown and stood out on the red carpet, plus it totally worked perfectly with her Old Hollywood glamour with her striking lippy and pin curls.
Like the dress Emily is simply gorgeous.
Who: Emily Blunt
Where: At the Harper’s Bazaar Woman Of The Year Awards held at Claridge’s Hotel in London
Wearing: An orange floor-length Alexander McQueen gown with a bejewelled halter neckline from the Resort 2013 collection, teamed with an Alexander McQueen black knuckle box clutch
Verdict: What a vision Emily Blunt is in orange, I love, love love this elegant-yet-simple McQueen gown on her – the streamlined silhouette is just divine.
I love that she didn’t over accessorise it, that jewelled neckline is enough sparkle for this look, which kind of reminds me a little of Calvin Klein in its minimalistic approach.
Winner of British Actor of the Year, I am loving this look on Emily – everything from the colour to the silhouette and her fresh-looking face and slicked back hair.
