Critics’ Choice Awards: My Five Favourite Red Carpet Looks

Critics-choice-angelina-jol

So the award season is certainly in full swing, which I am loving, first up was the Golden Globes that was semi-disappointing this year, but thankfully this year’s Critics’ Choice Movie Awards really did make up for some of the boring looks from last Sunday, I am talking about you Emily Blunt!!!

I know I normally do individual red carpet posts, but as I am late on this as I was actually travelling when the awards were taking place, I thought I would just share my five favourite looks, and trust me they are all beautiful.

First up we have Angelina Jolie who looked like a million dollars in her silver silk Atelier Versace gown. Granted this isn’t an original look, but if it isn’t broken why fix it comes to mind, but hey at least it isn’t black. I love how this gown flows and how it adds curves to Angie’s tiny frame with its fluty sleeves, draped bodice and plunging neckline. This gown is perfection with a real Hollywood movie star appeal and I adore it.

Critics-Choice-Diane-KrugerNext is Diane Kruger in a dramatic blue and white floral print strapless Naeem Khan gazar gown from the pre-fall 2015 collection. I love Diane’s red carpet style but this is elegance on another level, I really love the stunning china-blue print, even if some of my Twitter followers felt it looked like a vintage plate design. I am not sure if I prefer this look to her gorgeous Golden Globes Emilia Wickstead gown but it is still beautiful and such a great award ceremony look.

Then we have Michelle Monaghan showing off her sexy-yet-elegant side in this stunning black Elie Saab gown from the pre-fall 2015 collection. Normally one to showcase colour on the red carpet, I am so pleased that she opted for the understated black, as I just feel that with the sheer lace bodice and slits to the skirt that it just works better in black. The fit of this gown is just perfect on her as well, and I love that she wore her hair up and kept her make-up to a minimum. This is simply glamorous.

For my fourth look I have gone for Jennifer Aniston as not only was I shocked that she wasn’t wearing black, I love that she took a fashion risk and went for a sexy Gucci tuxedo in a gorgeous burnt-sienna hue. I was disappointed with her yawn of a gown to the Golden Globes and I have to wonder why she didn’t wear this as she would have certainly stood out.

There is something about a woman in a tuxedo and I love that instead of going for a safer option by wearing this in black she went for it in red, it totally paid off as she looks hot!!! I know a lot has been spoken about the fact that she was on the red carpet for the first time in years with Angelina Jolie but I think this look is so different from her silver gown that it stops comparisons and that was very clever.

For some this had a little bit too much plunge, I have to disagree I think the neckline and opting for no blouse really works and I love that she accessorised her décolletage with a couple of gold necklaces. Another love from this look has to be those flared-leg trousers, they are so flattering and really give her super long legs.

My final look that I adored at the Critics’ Choice Awards had to be Emily Blunt, like with Jennifer her Golden Globes look didn’t excite me, and it is because I knew that she could do so much better like with this red embroidered lace Emilio Pucci halter-neck gown. How stunning is this, if it was in white it would make a great wedding gown with those sheer chiffon inserts.

I do love the colour choice, it adds a touch of sex appeal to the elegance glamour of the embroidered gown and I love her wavy hair, it all just looks so effortless. Also Emily and her husband John Krasinski really are leading the Hollywood pack for the cutest couple award.

Which was your favourite look from this year’s Critics’ Choice Movie Awards?

Red Carpet: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley In Emilio Pucci

Who: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Where: At the ‘The Expendables 3′ LA premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California

Wearing: A black and white slip Emilio Pucci dress with black lace sheer paneling and low back, teamed with delicate jewellery and flawless make-up

Verdict: I was wondering if Rosie would be supporting boyfriend, Jason Statham, on the promo tour for The Expendables 3 and whether she would play the supporting, fade into the background role, or wow like she does best, and I am so pleased she went with wow, as this red carpet needed spicing up.

This monochrome maxi is gorgeous and without a doubt needed a supermodel like Rosie to really pull it off. The dress itself reminds me a little of lingerie with the sheer lace inserts and the slip-style top, but what makes this gown really stunning has to be the intricate black and white print – it really works with the sexy sheer panels.

As always the hair and make-up was flawless and I love the finishing touches with the delicate silver jewellery. I know I gush a lot about Rosie but come on when she looks this good it is hard not to.

What do you think of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s monochrome gown?

Cover Loving: Leighton Meester’s Raunchy Editorial For Flaunt Magazine

Gossip Girls is finally over and Leighton Meester is getting rid of her Blair Waldorf image with a very provocative editorial for Flaunt Magazine as the cover star for its The Mother Issue: Blow Your Load.

Shot by Yu Tsai, this photoshoot reminds me of something Helmut Newton would do, and I absolutely love Leighton looking like a high-end model with her jet black bob, it is like she went under a Tara makeover *sorry I am obsessed with America’s Next Top Model*.

I like the sexy styling, Robert Behar has done an amazing job, I completely adore the one-sleeved asymmetrical bustier Anthony Vaccarello gown on the cover, it works perfectly sandwiched between two naked models wearing Christian Louboutin brogues.

The rest of the editorial is just as strong with Leighton working a shaggy Mulberry coat, a striking yellow Versace dress, a gorgeous Pucci gown, and uber-sexy heels by Christian Louboutin and Brian Atwood – this is one steamy editorial.

So what do you think of Queen B’s raunchy editorial and do you like her Rose Byrne-inspired bob? Plus anyone else a little distracted by the very naked arse on the cover?

Cannes 2012: Kylie Minogue Dazzles Promoting Holy Motors

There is something quite endearing about pop princess Kylie, I like that she always makes an effort when it comes to red carpet appearances, and I love that she really does sexy in such an elegant way, which is hard to do. Kylie has been spotted in Cannes this past week promoting her new movie, Holy Motors, yes Kylie is giving acting another go after that awful Street Fighters movie she did year’s ago, and has been working her fashion connections.

Kylie’s first outing was for the ‘Killing Them Softly’ afterparty and she wore a stunning black sequinned Roberto Cavalli gown. Such a gorgeous silhouette and I absolutely love the shimmer of the large sequins, and the chiffon train is the perfect finish.

Then for the premire of her new movie Holy Motors, Kylie turned to her good pals Dolce & Gabbana and literally dazzled in this long-sleeved gold beauty. This is her best hair of the three looks as well for me, I love her wavy locks and her make-up is flawless, considering she is 43 – she really does look amazing.

My favourite of her three looks has to be the vibrant red organza Emilio Pucci gown that she wore to the 19th annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS gala. This gown from the autumn/winter 2012 collection looks like it was made specially for her, there is an elegance about the silhouette with its cleverly positioned sheer panels, but the sexy factor is there in the colour and the plunging neckline. But what makes this look my favourite is that gorgeous triple-layered diamond necklace – now that is statement jewellery!!!

Which of Kylie’s three looks gets your vote?

Cannes 2012: Jada Pinkett Smith In Emilio Pucci

Who: Actress Jada Pinkett Smith

Where: At Sean Penn’s Haiti Benefit Gala Dinner at the Electrolux Agora Pavilion during the 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival

Wearing: A custom-made gold strapless Emilio Pucci gown with beaded embellishments and lace inserts

Verdict: Jada really has had a busy Cannes and once again this is another stunning gown. There is something special about this metallic patchwork gown that I really like, I’m not sure it beats her orange Atelier Versace gown but comes pretty close.

I don’t know why but Jada hasn’t really been on my radar before Cannes and I’m thinking that she must have a new stylist as she has been on fire. I wonder if this is her done for this year’s event or if she has another gorgeous gown in her suitcase?

Venice Film Festival: Bar Refael In Emilio Pucci

Who: Bar Refaeli

Where: At the Carnage”premiere during the 68th Venice International Film Festival at Palazzo del Cinema

Wearing: A black Emilio Pucci jumpsuit with lace panel detailing from the Resort 2012 collection, teamed with a black box clutch

Verdict: If it wasn’t for the lace panel detailing this look wouldn’t have wowed me as much as it has. Of course her model proportions look amazing in this jumpsuit, and the touch of lace adds a sexy touch that she is working perfectly. I also love the Victorian-style buttons as well.

But what is it with the un-styled hair, I said it yesterday that Abbie Cornish didn’t pull it off like Diane Kruger, and I think Bar needed to take a little bit more time as well.

Music Video Loving: Beyonce – Run The World (Girls)

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBmMU_iwe6U&feature=player_embedded

Beyonce premiered her new song last week, Run The World (Girls), and as you would expect it is filled with fierce poses, dancing and an amazing selection of designer clobber. I counted eight looks, admittedly I may have missed a few as it does flash from one scene to the next quite quickly, but I spotted pieces from Lee McQueen’s last collection, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Emilio Pucci, Brian Lichtenberg and Gareth Pugh.

One of the first looks (above) is a gorgeous Alexander McQueen red silk satin dress adorned with gold embroidery from the autumn/winter 2010 collection, teamed with McQueen thigh-high boots. Oh, and for added drama, Beyonce is standing tall next to a gorgeous lion.

Surrounded by her army Beyonce shows off her fab figure and incredible dance skills in these Norma Kamali fringe shorts with a black bustier, a Brian Lichtenberg patchwork fur vest from the autumn/winter 2011 collection and fringed Alexander Wang heels. This is a hot look!!

Amongst all the post-apocalyptic drama comes this gorgeous Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci dress from the spring/summer 2011 collection. The detailing in this dress looks stunning against the derilick scene.

But my favourite look has to be this stunning black Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown from the spring 2011 collection, its fabulous bold feathered shoulders and cut-out detailing to the bodice.

One of the most striking costume changes has to be this gold scale Gareth Pugh dress and heels. This is a very futuristic look and I love the dramatic shoulder and the flicky skirt, and how tiny is her waist!!

My least favourite look has to be this vibrant yellow Emilio Pucci gown with thigh-high splits on both sides and a plunging neckline. Makes perfect sense for her dance moves, but against all the other stunning pieces this one didn’t work as well for me. Out of the two Pucci dresses I prefer the racing green sequinned number below, with its cross-body slash.

For Beyonce’s second wear from Norma Kamali she looks amazing in her Aztec cut-out jumpsuit, which you can buy here for $575.

I am so glad that artists like Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Rihanna still make large production music videos. This video shot by Francis Lawrence really is spectacular, from the concept of Beyonce being a warrior chief and having her own army to the crazy dance scenes, this is a great video.
