Magazine Loving: Elle Collections

Day31 Magazine Loving: Elle Collections %tag

I am big fan of ELLE Collections, I love a round-up of the season’s fashion, and the spring/summer 2012 edition which just went on sale is a beauty. Straight off the mark the magazine cheered me up with its pastel floral explosion on the front cover, which I think works perfectly with Instagram’s 1977 filter.

I have every single ELLE Collection produced and I love that each time there is a new quirky feature – my favourite from SS12 has to be Fashionopoly. Where instead of collecting money you lose two kilos as you pass go, jail has been replaced with ‘go to the back row’, and there is even a square for free champagne – well it is fashion darling!!! Now, how do I get Monopoly to produce this fabulous game??

Also don’t miss Chapter IV, In The Studio – where the ELLE team have interviewed the likes of Erdem, Jonathan Saunders, Peter Pilotto, Richard Nicoll, and Giles Deacon.

Cover Loving: Dakota Fanning For ELLE UK

dakotaellenewscover Cover Loving: Dakota Fanning For ELLE UK %tag

It isn’t often that I am gutted I received the subscribers cover of ELLE UK, but for the February issue the Dakota Fanning newsstand cover is just stunning. I am a big fan of the Fanning sisters, I am still hoping that they will become the new Olsens, minus the twin status of course, and I thought Elle looked amazing on the cover of Teen Vogue – but Dakota has stepped it up.

It is easy to forget that Dakota is only 17-years-old, and surprisingly this is her first major solo glossy cover, and even though I love the sultry close-up on the subscribers cover and the gorgeous Louis Vuitton broderie anglaise collar peeking through – for me the baby blue Prada car-print top paired with the Prada leather skirt is just so cute-yet-edgy.

I also think a quick mention is needed for her striking make-up, fresh and grown-up, while still having a youthful feel about it, which is hard to achieve. How gorgeous is that shade of lippy – the divine L’Absolu Rouge in Rouge Odysee from Lancome. But what made me smile was the fact that the nail varnish used only costs £3.99, and that is because it is Rimmel London’s Hot Gossip shade – I so have to buy that!! The lips I think are hard to pull off, but nails – anyone can rock red nails.

Which is your favourite cover, the newsstand edition or the subscribers copy?dakotaellesubscover Cover Loving: Dakota Fanning For ELLE UK %tag

Cover Loving: Lady Gaga For ELLE – Not Once, But Twice

GagaElleCovers Cover Loving: Lady Gaga For ELLE Not Once, But Twice %tag
I know I am a little late on sharing these amazing Lady Gaga covers for ELLE UK, but in my defence I did think I had done it last week until I search on my blog and couldn’t see it.

First off, let me say what a shock it was realising that Gaga had never graced the cover of ELLE UK before, I know crazy right. In true Gaga style, she has done just one cover, though the magazine is releasing two newsstand covers. It is hard to choose my favourite between these two pastel shade covers, but I think the Alexander McQueen orange embroidered organza dress from the spring/summer 2012 collection just pips Simone Rocha’s green number. Only just mind you!!!! When you see the full length shot of Rocha’s mini in the editorial spread it is striking.

Both are completely stunning covers snapped by Matt Irwin and I do love the matching headpieces over the eyes. The only disappointment is that the subscriber cover is just the McQueen dress with less text – I was hoping for something else. Greedy I suppose!!

For an exclusive behind-the-scenes video from the photoshoot, pop on over to ELLE and see Gaga in another Alexander McQueen dress and a purple Richard Nicoll dress.

So which is your favourite cover?

Hot, Hot, Hot: Jennifer Aniston Not In A LBD

jenniferkaufmanfranco Hot, Hot, Hot: Jennifer Aniston Not In A LBD %tag

Who: Jennifer Aniston

Where: At ELLE’s 18th annual Women in Hollywood Tribute in Beverly Hills

Wearing: A deep-V neck Kaufmanfranco mini with linear sequin paillettes, which also has an open back; accessories are Balenciaga strappy heels, a metallic Ferragamo clutch, and finished off with jewellery from Fred Leighton

Verdict: Wow, this new man in Jennifer’s life really is making her brim with confidence, I love that she stepped away from her trademark little black dress and went for a sexy sequinned mini.

I’ve been watching Friends a bit lately, it is all to do with Comedy Central’s big push at the moment, and it just reminded me why I love Jennifer so much and it is all to do with Rachel in the first series. I don’t know why but this picture for me she has the same Rachel glow about her that I haven’t seen in a while and I like it.

Also according to InStyle this mini was created especially for Saks, I looked online and couldn’t find it, so sadly I think that means it has gone – but this is seriously one hot dress!!!

ELLE: James Franco Turns Photographer

One of my dreams is to shoot my own editorial spread, I know it may not happen but hey that is why it is a dream, well it seems James Franco has decided he needed to add another string to his bow; not content with being a movie star, an author and an artist, he can now add fashion photographer to his impressive CV.

British model Agyness Deyn stars in an ode to James Dean in a Rebel Without a Cause story, these amazing snaps in the latest ELLE were shot against the backdrop of the Chateau Marmont in LA, where Rebel director Nicholas Ray lived. A stunning mix of leather, denim and the classic white t-shirt.

Cover Loving: Emma Stone For ELLE In Versace

Emma Stone ELLE July 2011 Cover Loving: Emma Stone For ELLE In Versace %tag

For the summer months I don’t really find magazine covers really wow me, but I adore this yellow feather Versace dress that Emma Stone is wearing on the ELLE July cover.

Shot by Carter Smith, I love how ELLE’s Creative Director Joe Zee added a gorgeous Lanvin gold necklace with this Versace number, such a luxe look with a sunshine vibe. The editorial that accompanies the cover is equally as impressive, shot on the beach it is a fun shoot with some gorgeous pieces, my favourite shot has to be this one.

Also is it just me or does Emma look a little like Michelle Williams? Yeah, I think it might just be me!!!

Cover Loving: Katy Perry Goes Gucci For ELLE

katyperryellecover Cover Loving: Katy Perry Goes Gucci For ELLE %tag

I loved how Paris Vogue used Gucci on the cover of their February issue, but I think Katy Perry trumps Lara Stone *sorry but she does!*.

Colour-blocking really is having a moment, and it is all down to the gorgeous spring/summer 2011 collection from Gucci. Katy Perry looks amazing in this Gucci look, from the purple trousers teamed with the gold sash *which has been everywhere*, to the green jacket paired with the eye-popping sky blue top and bra combo.

She really is a firework*sorry couldn’t resist*.

I love this shot from inside the March issue of ELLE, as it features one of my favourite Oscar de la Renta gowns, this spread is amazing I can’t wait to flip through it. Head on over to ELLE to see more from her cover shoot, and the spread – completely adorable.
