I am a big fan of Katy Perry, more so now that I know that she counts Minnie Mouse as one of her style icons, and I was excited that she was to grace the September issue of ELLE UK - but then I saw the newsstand cover and I was a little underwhelmed, mainly because of the flamingo pose.
Don’t get me wrong, Katy looks amazing in a checked Dolce & Gabbana peplum top with matching shorts, and I understand that those Christian Louboutin boots are hot – but come on that pose really is more of an editorial shot than a cover pose for me.
I prefer the simplicity of the subscriber cover, which really shows off Katy’s beauty and her incredible eyes. Granted this cover does remind me a little of Emma Stone’s Vogue UK cover from last year – but I think Katy’s makes more of an impact as it is all about her face.
Shot by Mariano Vivanco, the accompanying editorial is just as strong with Katy wearing looks from Prada, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton and Alexander Wang’s autumn/winter 2013 collections.
The issue hits newsstands on Wednesday, July 31 and I can’t wait for my subscriber copy to drop through the letterbox.
Which cover do you prefer – the subscribers or the newsstand?
