Who: Actress Elle Fanning
Where: At the World Premiere of Disney’s “Maleficent“, held at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California
Wearing: An off-the-shoulder ice-blue Elie Saab fully embroidered tulle A-line gown with a matching belt from the designer’s spring/summer 2014 Haute Couture collection, teamed with the matching belt, a choker and bracelets
Verdict: I love how both Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning have been inspired by their Maleficent characters during this promo tour and this is another perfect example of a modern princess gown by Elie Saab. Everything from the colour, that ice-blue is gorgeous, to the off-shoulder design and the semi-sheer skirt is just perfection, romantic and elegant.
Elle really does embrace the girlie side of the red carpet, which I adore, and this gown is just exquisite – the detailing in the embroidery is amazing on the close-up piccie, and I really do love this princess A-line silhouette on her, it makes her already tiny waist look even smaller.
Sadly though this isn’t a complete home run for Elle, I do love everything about this look except for that choker, which doesn’t seem to match the modern youthful look of the outfit.

Who: Angelina Jolie
Where: At the 86th Academy Awards held in Los Angeles, California
Wearing: A greige, fully embellished long-sleeved tulle Elie Saab Couture gown featuring a sheer bodice from the autumn/winter 2013 collection, teamed with of pale satin champagne Salvatore Ferragamo peep-toe shoes
Verdict: The red carpet really did pick up when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt arrived, granted they are a gorgeous couple, but I think it was all because of this stunning sexy-yet-elegant Elie Saab Couture gown.
I have to be honest I really thought she would wear black, it would probably be Saint Laurent or Versace, and she would show off a bit of leg – but this Elie Saab was so much better and such a lovely surprise.
For some this look was ageing, maybe it was the ombre metallic hue, but for me it was pure Hollywood glamour – I love everything about this exquisite gown. The only thing I would have changed is her hair – I think having it up would have just finished off this look perfectly.
