My Style: ASOS Floral Dip-Dye Dress

Fashionista Barbie asos dress 7 My Style: ASOS Floral Dip Dye Dress %tag

Before the fashion craziness of September, my boyfriend and I always try to get away for a mini-break, so last week we headed to Wales for a spot of relaxation at a spa in Anglesey. More to come on the amazing hotel, the treatments and the island, but as I haven’t blogged an outfit post in nearly a month, so I thought I would share with you one of my favourite looks from my holibob.

This floral dip-dye smock dress is from ASOS and I bought it on a whim as it was in the sale, it still is and is only £18, I like the shape and the idea of wearing florals without being too girlie and bright. The thinking was I could wear during the summer with bright accessories and then come winter I could layer up with tights, boots and a chunky cardigan.

For dinner at the hotel one night I decided to wear this beauty paired with my bright orange heels from Marks & Spencer, I got them for a wedding last year and they are super comfortable and I love the pop of colour with the burn-out floral design of the dress. As I don’t have an orange belt, seriously the only colour I don’t own, I went with my trusty flower clasp beauty from Dorothy Perkins as this dress really needs to be nipped in a little otherwise it looks a little unflattering.

Finishing off my look I kept my jewellery simple, mainly because we were away to relax not get dressed up, so I wore my trusty Fossil watch that my mum got me for my birthday and my new favourite piece of arm candy – this cute bow bracelet from Kate Spade.

There is something about this dress that I love, and I think it works against the gorgeous backdrop of Anglesey, as it makes the pop of colours in the flowers and palm trees look even more vibrant.

Are you a fan of floral dresses and would you wear this beautiful dip-dye number?

My Style: Denim & Stripes With Added Arm Candy

This week has been kind of quiet – with the Bank Holiday I haven’t been into London much, instead I have been baking up a storm for the Great River Bake Off *more to come on this*, but on Thursday night I did venture into the snow storm, I know I thought April was all about the rain showers but apparently Thursday was the coldest April day in Blighty for the past 50 years – seriously crazy weather.

The occasion was catching up with my good friend and fellow blogger Sherin from HiFashion and also head over to the Kipling x Helena Christensen party at Beach Blanket Babylon – I had planned to wear a new dress I have been dying to wear, but the weather had other ideas so I decided to work my mini flares with a stripy shirt, a classic but an easy style to throw on.

I wasn’t going to do a style post, mainly because I like to take my shots outside and I wasn’t willing to take my coat off in the freezing conditions, but I actually quite liked the moody lighting at Beach Blanket Babylon that I decided what the hell as I really like this look.

For me this outfit was made fun by my jewellery, which I seem to be obsessed with off late, I just find it the best way to jazz up an outfit or brighten up my mood. This week when mooching around New Look, like you do, I came across this adorable black and white panda watch, I instantly fell in love with it and at £9.99 this watch is the perfect addition to any arm candy party!!!

As I don’t like to mix my metals, I teamed my watch with some of my favourite pieces of silver jewellery – my moo cow necklace that my mum bought me a few years back from Christmas, I literally wear this necklace to death it is so cute, my new ring from & Other Stories, I just love how simple it is, and no jewellery look is complete without a stack of bracelets – I went for these ornate ones, also from New Look. I do love to jingle.

Do you love to jazz up an outfit with your jewellery?

My Style: Black, Black, & More Black, With A Touch Of Animal Magic

ootd black and white 1 My Style: Black, Black, & More Black, With A Touch Of Animal Magic %tag

Sometimes you just need to wear something simple, comfortable but an outfit that still makes you feel good, for me this can be one of two looks – jeans or a skater skirt and top, yesterday when I went for lunch with my friend Alex I opted for the girlie of the two.

As it was a mainly black look, shock horror hey I do love to wear black, I decided to pair my skirt and jumper with a cute white collar. When looking to freshen up a look, I am really enjoying teaming jumpers with cute collars, whether Peter Pan style, embroidered or like this one gold tipped – simple, easy and chic.

It may have been the first day of spring yesterday but that didn’t stop it from being freezing so I paired my look with my bargain coat from Dorothy Perkins and a bright orange leopard printed scarf that I picked up ages ago from New Look to add a touch of colour.

Finishing up my look is my animal magic jewellery, a rabbit ring and stag necklace that I was kindly sent from Wonsuponatime, I am seriously in love with this cute ring and so appropriate with Easter just around the corner, as well as my animal-effect bangles that I picked up from H&M.

I find jewellery is a great way to accessory a look without costing the earth, while still making a statement, and my latest obsession after arm candy has to be rings. I have gone years without wearing any rings, after my hands swelled up while in New York and my rings were destroyed  but I am embracing them again and love really dainty but statement pieces and this rabbit is one of my current favs.

What’s your tip for jazzing up a simple look?

My Style: Cats & Dogs Without The Rain

While visiting Columbia Road it seemed rude not to snap my outfit, but instead of a flower stall backdrop I decided that this beautiful floral mosaic wall that was on one of the side streets was much prettier.

It was milder last week than it is now so I was fine to wear this look without a huge winter jacket. I love skater skirts, they are just easy to wear, comfortable, and look great with a statement knit, a blazer jacket and biker boots, which to me equals weekend staple!!!

I know that I have been going crazy on the animal jumpers, I promise this will be the last one, as even though it is pretty it malted worse than my real cats, which is why no close up as the grey furry wool is all over my blazer.

To add a bit of warmth I paired my look with my dalmatian print scarf from New Look, which was a complete bargain at £7.99, and the cobalt colour meant I could get my trusty Rebecca Minkoff MAB bag out of storage – oh how I have missed this bag!!!

What are your go-to weekend staples?

My Style: Day One At London Fashion Week

My style LFW day1 My Style: Day One At London Fashion Week %tag

Today has been a busy day, tons of shows, catching up with friends some of which I only seem to see twice a year, being pampered at The Apartment run by friend Abi – the lovely girlies at Rimmel did my make-up, and for the first time in about eight seasons I actually got street style snapped – not once but twice, seriously small pleasures really do make me smile.

This fashion week I have decided to work some of the trends/looks I love most right now, first up is boyfriend jeans, granted I would have loved to wear a strappy heel with them but the cold made me go for my comfortable, wear in any weather Topshop ankle boots. I must have tried on about 20 pairs of boyfriend style jeans on the high street, and 19 of them look awful, but then I tried these ‘Sexy Boyfriend’ style at Gap and I fell in love with them.

What I love about this look, other than the fact I was extremely comfortable, has to be the pop of colour from my Primark jumper, which worked perfectly with the gorgeous white broderie trim shirt from the Glamour for Very collection, and the super cute Angelica London necklace that I picked up at Task PR’s LFW gifting suite last week. I also really adore my new Mickey Mouse ‘Mmwwaah – seriously how cute is that.My style LFW day1 close up My Style: Day One At London Fashion Week %tag

My Style: A Winter Coat Deserves A Snowy Background

OOTD hello kitty My Style: A Winter Coat Deserves A Snowy Background %tag

As you will know, from my numerous tweets and Instagram snaps, the snow finally fell on my village this weekend and I certainly made the most of it. So on Saturday, before the major snow fell yesterday, I decided to give my new Dorothy Perkins coat that I bought in the sale a test run – basically I just wanted an excuse to wrap up warm and wear my new coat.

I have been after a smarter winter coat for a while, and I really wanted one with contrasting sleeves but not all black like the ones I have seen in Zara, New Look and Topshop, and I had considered the parka versions seen in River Island and Warehouse but I just didn’t seem to ever find one in my size, so when I spotted this beauty in the sale at DP it was like fate!!!

As well as keeping the chill away, I love the shape of this coat, kind of a slouchy long-line biker-style coat, which is still smart and basically will go with anything in my wardrobe. What I also love is that it fits perfectly in the arms, I have tried on a lot of these contrasting sleeve coats and the faux-leather sleeve is either too tight or too baggy, this one is just right and not bad for £40.

As we hadn’t had that much snow on Saturday I decided to pair my new coat with my fairly new 5th Avenue by Halle Berry knee-high boots, yes designed by Halle Berry the actress as seen at the Golden Globes in Atelier Versace!!! 5th Avenue is a German brand part of the Deichmann footwear group and the Halle Berry line has something for everyone, so when the brand asked me to pick a pair I just loved these simple knee highs. I chose them because not only are they the perfect height, just under 9cm, they have a block heel, which means they are comfortable to wear all day, and they are less than £60 – serious bargain.

Finishing up my look is my super warm Vero Moda knitted jumper dress, which I have had for years, and I added a pop of colour with this neon statement necklace from Dorothy Perkins. Oh and I nearly forgot, I even gave my HTC One X a makeover as my Hello Kitty cover I ordered off eBay arrived – isn’t it cute!!!

What have you been wearing in the snow?

My Style: The Apartment x Dulux Collective Passion

I am an avid fan of The Apartment set up by my friend Abi, London Fashion Week was revived for me with the blogger sanctuary, and now Abi has adapted the initiative to work all year round by teaming up with brands to create unique blogger events.

I have shared with you the amazing nails from The Apartment x Dulux Collective Passion event, well here are the behind-the-scene snaps and my moments in front of the camera, which showcased my outfits that translated the Dulux Collective Passion spring 2013 colours – basically a group of bloggers were asked to raid their wardrobes.

Dulux scene My Style: The Apartment x Dulux Collective Passion %tag

What was cool about this event, other than finding outfits that I forgot I had, which sadly weren’t in Dulux’s spring colours, was the fact that a global paint giant like Dulux would want to appeal to fashion bloggers – in such a fun way.

So with an amazing Apartment just off Old Street, the spring colours painted on different walls, a make-up artist on hand to make me presentable, pieces of jewellery to style-up my look, and my Dulux-inspired nails I was ready to shoot against the colourful backgrounds in the style of Destiny’s Child ‘Say My Name’ video – which was so much fun.

Dulux orange My Style: The Apartment x Dulux Collective Passion %tag

I brought along three looks, I tried to go for all block colours and dresses, not sure why but I generally don’t do one-colour looks that aren’t dresses First up was my orange Dorothy Perkins shift dress that is one of my favourite dresses in my wardrobe, which worked perfectly with Dulux’s Orange Fizz shade, and I loved the contrast with my Dulux Sapphire Spring and Rock Candy shaded nails.

For my second look I went for my Jaeger Boutique dress that was nearly spot-on for Dulux’s Sapphire Spring, one of my favourite colours from the spring trend palette. What I love about this look has to be the contrast against the Citron Sunrise wall.

It was such a fun event to be part of, and a great example of how non-fashion brands can get their products seen by a fashion audience and I loved every second of it. Plus what I also loved is that I got to hang out with my friends – don’t we all amazing!!!
