SS12 Campaign: Diesel Torches Barbie Dollshouse

I went to the Diesel autumn/winter 2012 press day yesterday, all about coloured jeans, gorgeous knits and huge bags *I will put piccies on  my Facebook soon*, but while there I spotted the current spring/summer 2012 campaign by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, ‘Portraits for Successful Living’, and I was shocked to see them burning Barbie!!!

OK, I am being a little dramatic but what a weird campaign, leggy models torching dollshouses, a denim clad model canoodling a robot, another one trampling on a potted plant, and there is even one playing peek-a-boo in a safe. I get that Diesel is a little bit out there with their advertising but has anyone else spotted these adverts and thought WTF is going on???

The one I do love however has to be the two leggy models doing tug-of-war, those bleached blue flares are HOT!!!

I’ve put the rest of the campaign images on my Facebook page – let me know what you think of Diesel’s latest campaign?

AW11 Press Day: Diesel – No Guns. No Roses.

Last week I took in the amazing autumn/winter collection from Diesel, much more than a denim label, I loved all the rock and roll inspired elements in the womenswear range. From iconic graphic tees, which reminded me of album covers, to biker jackets with attitude and sex appeal, and rounded off with gorgeous statement draped indigo dresses, which had been given a marble wash treatment. I really do think this is a collection to make you think differently about the denim brand, well it certainly did for me, I love all the dresses, the chunky knits and most of all the accessories – a lot of pieces have been added to my wish-list!!

Seriously gorgeous pieces, I love the way the AW11 collection emphasises the idea of mixing and remixing, as there were so many textures; obviously denim, but leather, mesh panelling, canvas detailing, and my favourite pieces were chunky knits. What I love most is the contrast detailing, one of my favourite dresses had to be this jersey and mesh mini (below), the mesh panel detailing to the back is divine. Doesn’t get more rock chic than that.

One thing that did surprise me was the quality of the Diesel bags collection, I am completely in love with the Divina *above, below and dotty throughout the post*. Reworked from SS11, this is the bag that can work any outfit, while carrying my life around and I love it. This season, Diesel have used new fabrics and washes, from authentic bleached and stonewashed denim to heavy treated canvas *which I need in my life*, and leather ones, which feature manual applied dirty sponging processes *I know, get me with my technical jargon*, but trust me love a big bag then try the Divina for size, you won’t be disappointed.

Anyone else think this vest looks like an album cover? Probably just me, but this beauty is going to be perfect for festival season as it drops in-stores June/July.
