I wasn’t going to bother doing a play-by-play look at the Vanity Fair red carpet, **the Oscars red carpet was a little disappointing this year**, well that was until I heard that Diane Kruger was to wear custom Donna Karan Atelier, and as soon as I saw the hybrid dress-come-jumpsuit creation I knew that I couldn’t not share it – just look how amazing it is!!!
So the award season is certainly in full swing, which I am loving, first up was the Golden Globes that was semi-disappointing this year, but thankfully this year’s Critics’ Choice Movie Awards really did make up for some of the boring looks from last Sunday, I am talking about you Emily Blunt!!!
I know I normally do individual red carpet posts, but as I am late on this as I was actually travelling when the awards were taking place, I thought I would just share my five favourite looks, and trust me they are all beautiful.
First up we have Angelina Jolie who looked like a million dollars in her silver silk Atelier Versace gown. Granted this isn’t an original look, but if it isn’t broken why fix it comes to mind, but hey at least it isn’t black. I love how this gown flows and how it adds curves to Angie’s tiny frame with its fluty sleeves, draped bodice and plunging neckline. This gown is perfection with a real Hollywood movie star appeal and I adore it.
Next is Diane Kruger in a dramatic blue and white floral print strapless Naeem Khan gazar gown from the pre-fall 2015 collection. I love Diane’s red carpet style but this is elegance on another level, I really love the stunning china-blue print, even if some of my Twitter followers felt it looked like a vintage plate design. I am not sure if I prefer this look to her gorgeous Golden Globes Emilia Wickstead gown but it is still beautiful and such a great award ceremony look.
Then we have Michelle Monaghan showing off her sexy-yet-elegant side in this stunning black Elie Saab gown from the pre-fall 2015 collection. Normally one to showcase colour on the red carpet, I am so pleased that she opted for the understated black, as I just feel that with the sheer lace bodice and slits to the skirt that it just works better in black. The fit of this gown is just perfect on her as well, and I love that she wore her hair up and kept her make-up to a minimum. This is simply glamorous.
For my fourth look I have gone for Jennifer Aniston as not only was I shocked that she wasn’t wearing black, I love that she took a fashion risk and went for a sexy Gucci tuxedo in a gorgeous burnt-sienna hue. I was disappointed with her yawn of a gown to the Golden Globes and I have to wonder why she didn’t wear this as she would have certainly stood out.
There is something about a woman in a tuxedo and I love that instead of going for a safer option by wearing this in black she went for it in red, it totally paid off as she looks hot!!! I know a lot has been spoken about the fact that she was on the red carpet for the first time in years with Angelina Jolie but I think this look is so different from her silver gown that it stops comparisons and that was very clever.
For some this had a little bit too much plunge, I have to disagree I think the neckline and opting for no blouse really works and I love that she accessorised her décolletage with a couple of gold necklaces. Another love from this look has to be those flared-leg trousers, they are so flattering and really give her super long legs.
My final look that I adored at the Critics’ Choice Awards had to be Emily Blunt, like with Jennifer her Golden Globes look didn’t excite me, and it is because I knew that she could do so much better like with this red embroidered lace Emilio Pucci halter-neck gown. How stunning is this, if it was in white it would make a great wedding gown with those sheer chiffon inserts.
I do love the colour choice, it adds a touch of sex appeal to the elegance glamour of the embroidered gown and I love her wavy hair, it all just looks so effortless. Also Emily and her husband John Krasinski really are leading the Hollywood pack for the cutest couple award.
Which was your favourite look from this year’s Critics’ Choice Movie Awards?

Of course we all love the official red carpet snaps from award shows, but this year I think all the fun is going to happened on Instagram as this past year actresses and actors really have got on board and embraced the picture sharing site, I am obsessed with following Diane Kruger, Reese Witherspoon, and Kate Hudson. It was so fun to see A-list celebs sharing all the behind-the-scenes gossip from the Golden Globes – from the make-up chair, inside the limo, on the red carpet, during the award show and of course those boozy after parties. So I thought I would share a few of my favourites so you could add them you following list ahead of the next award show. Are you following your favourite A-listers on Instagram?
Who: Diane Kruger
Where: At the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California
Wearing: A silver Emilia Wickstead tailored gown with sweeping train, teamed with a Emm Kuo clutch and Kwiat jewellery
Verdict: Diane Kruger has a great sense of style and I have to own up to having a total girl crush on her, so of course I was blown away by this gorgeous, elegant look, and I just couldn’t take my eyes off how it was tailored to perfection, the shimmer-effect fabric literally followed the contours of her incredible figure.
I love it when British designers get recognition on the red carpet and this no doubt will help put Emilia Wickstead on the map in Hollywood, but I wonder if it wasn’t for the fact Diane is a style icon on the red carpet would this gown be getting as much attention? I think it would have been liked but wouldn’t have wowed in quite the same way.
There is something about how Diane puts looks together, with the styling of the mother-of-pearl clutch, the statement pieces of jewellery and Old Hollywood waves that really pulls this look together to make it a knockout.
When there are so many gowns adorned with embellishments or featuring sexy cut-outs I find it refreshing that a minimal gown like this can bring its own sex appeal to the party with the help of a blonde bombshell like Diane Kruger and some exquisite tailoring.
What do you think – were you blown away by Diane Kruger’s look?
