Trainer, sneakers, hi-tops whatever you like to call them are having a bit of a moment, it seems everywhere you turn everyone is wearing them, and I couldn’t be more pleased about this. I know they are not always the most glamorous, well except if you buy ones with lots of glitter and sequins, but most of all I love the comfort and durability of trainers.

For the most part I am a heels and boots type of doll, but my guilty pleasure is trainers, and generally classics or cute gets my vote. So you can imagine how excited I was to see Pastry at Cube PR’s latest press day.

Pastry is the creation of Run DMC’s daughters Angela and Vanessa Simmons, who launched the trainers under their family’s Run Athletics shoewear line back in 2007, and I just love their fun and quirky approach to trainers. I remember the first pair I bought came with a cake recipe – I hope that is still a feature.

My favourite shoes on display had to be the Pastry x Hello Kitty collaboration, which is a Foot Locker European exclusive!! I am a sucker for a collaboration, and I love a bit of Hello Kitty, how cute are those kitty’s in sunglasses on the laces – LOVE!!!

These bad boys hit stores on December 1 – in Blighty, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands, and I can tell you I have already added those white and silver ones to my Christmas wish list *cc. Santa*.

The Pastry Paris Lover shoe is also a cutie, updated in a fresh light blue, I love the sequins and the cris-crossing straps  overlay.

Last week I was introduced to Spanish brand Medwinds debut spring/summer 2011 collection at Cube PR’s showroom and I instantly feel in love with its relaxed Mediterranean charm. Launched in Barcelona earlier this year the online brand offers high quality clothing and accessories for both women and men with competitive prices, and free shipping and returns.

I don’t like to compare brands, but when they are new I think it is needed to get them noticed, so I would say that Medwinds is kind of a mix between GAP and H&M with its gorgeous selection of plain basics, from t-shirts, dresses, blouses and shorts. Perfect additions to any wardrobe, from casual weekend pieces to stylish work options.

What I was most surprised about were the details, I loved the cute collars on the blouses, the pleating on tops and dresses, and most of all the soft pastel shades. Think of Medwinds as an affordable holiday collection, it has everything you need to enjoy the summer, complete with swimwear.

I think the items that gained the most attention had to be the footwear and handbag collections, and I have to admit I was one of them, but really I shouldn’t have been surprised as the brand is from the people behind footwear Camper.

They offer a great selection of flats, wedges, work shoes, evening heels and my favourite pair has to be these gorgeous peep-toe tan wooden wedges.

I always love it how bloggers are generally drawn to the same item at events like this, at Tabio it was a pair of tights, and at Medwinds it was this exquisite Marsella Tote bag, with its soft tan leather and enough room to carry everything a fashionista would need. It definitely made it to my wish-list!!

Even the men’s collection is divine, with loose-fitting t-shirts, shorts, swimwear and stylish bowling ball shoes.

As well as the clothes and shoes it was an evening of great company, it is always nice catching up with the Cube PR gang, but I also got to see the lovely Alex Loves in her beautiful Erdem dress and Lois aka Bunni Punch working the Medwinds bag that I want.

I love sheepskin footwear, I have numerous pairs of UGGs and I am an EMU Australia convert since I got a pair last year, and last week I had the pleasure of attending Cube PR’s press day and found these beauties.

These high tops are perfection, I love how the vintage leather panels are a great contrast against the sheepskin, also how comfortable do they look.

Roll on autumn/winter 2011, as these are going to one of my first purchase. Not a big fan of the camel colour, don’t worry they also come in black, is wrong that I want both??

I also loved a number of other items at the press day, these EMU Australia leather boots are gorgeous, I love the biker buckle detailing to the top, and new for AW11, EMU have introduced wedge boots *see below*. So you get to stay warm, weather resistant and fashionable, absolutely LOVE!!!

I have openly blogged about the joys of EMU Australia, as a recent convert *I have a number of UGG Australia boots* I was exstatic to hear that the premium sheepskin brand is to open its first UK pop-up store this week. If like some of my friends you have been put off EMU due to it not having its stores on the high-street, and like me you have a touchy feely approach to shopping, then you’ll be just as excited as me that come January 5, for three-months the brand will have a temporary base in Holborn, London.

EMU will be taking over its UK PR company, Cube PR, selling women’s and men’s footwear, as well as its gorgeous line of apparel and accessories *I really want some ear muffs*. Recently both Fearne Cotton and Alexa Chung were spotted in the stunning *and extremely warm* Kallaroo jacket (below) in chocolate, and I love their range of biker jackets – the leather is so soft!

Press Days: Selfridges, EMU Australia BBQ and AllSaints AW10

Most press days this week were all about Christmas with Selfridges being the pick of the draw – they even had Play-Doh in the goodie bag.

They had some fun quirky items, from Lego jewellery to a Juicy Couture Crayon Jewel set; but my favourite items had to be these cuties designed especially for its concept store, The Wonder Room by the wonderful Felt Mistress.

These bespoke one-off characters are amazing, especially loving ‘Lady Gaarrgghhh Garrgghhhh Monster Doll’ who is priced £390, and features as part of a seven-piece collection – there is even a Karl Lagerfeld. These dolls are definitely not toys and have most certainly been added to my Christmas list for Santa.

EMU Australia BBQ

If like me you have seen people wearing EMU shoes – but just thought that they were copies of UGG then think again. On Thursday I had a great night over at Cube PR and their EMU Australia BBQ – it was a great introduction to the brand, the original sheepskin footwear, of course I had heard of them but didn’t realise what great quality they were or that they did apparel – which I loved.

I own three pairs of UGGs, I love the comfortable nature of them as well as their adaptability they go with jeans, leggings as well as dresses – but seeing the autumn/winter line from EMU has made me re-evaluate. Don’t be put off by the fact that they don’t have their own shops on the high-street as they felt better than UGGs, the soles have more grip and they have a great muted palette of colours and styles.

What was also nice about the relaxed evening was the BBQ, nice concept and even better butternut squash which was amazing.

One of my favourite press days of the summer was the AllSaints autumn/winter 2010 set in the grand location of Somerset House which was perfect for the great clothing and footwear that they had on show. As you would expect all the clothing was gorgeous - lots of draping dresses, chunky knits and sequin embellishments; as well as a colour palette of dove grey, blacks, charcoal, cream, brown and white.

Looking for investment pieces such a winter wool coat, jersey basics, woollen beauties or a fitted leather jacket – then this is the place to shop. But what I loved was the great footwear collection, definitely the labels best yet – featuring shoes with quirky wedge heels, boots with shearing lining or faux fur and great military and vintage styles.

Most of the items I loved at the press day aren’t available until November – but trust me it is worth the wait.
