Haute Couture: Giambattisa Valli Couture SS15

Giambattisa-Valli-couture-look45Quick disclaimer, I love, love, love anything Giambattisa Valli, I am obsessed with day dreaming of dress-up sessions in his exquisitely crafted gowns, and I basically each season just fall in love with the romance of haute couture, and the hope that one day I will be a fairytale princess in need of a gown for the ball!!!

For SS15, Valli was inspired by Coco Chanel and Janis Joplin, which is probably why there was a chic romance mixed in with a haute couture-style rock-n-roll vibe, which made for a gorgeous mix of floral embroideries, frills, sheer panelling, ruffles, plenty of tulle and sexy black veils covering the model’s eyes.

What I adore about this collection has to be the sugar almond colour palette of pale pink, green and lemon, mixed in with the Coco-approved black and white, to make for a feminine, chic and seriously dreamy collection of floor-length gowns, flirty dresses, coats and even trousers. I know can trousers even be couture, well only if paired with a tulle skirt or in a gorgeous printed silk-faille, of course! For me this line-up had everything a haute couture collection should have in it.

Of course the fairytale princess gowns with their explosions of tulle were my favourites, divine in their construction, I am always fascinated with how many hours each gown takes, and all of them had me dreaming of the red carpet. I think the Oscars would be wonderful, would certainly make an entrance but to be honest I don’t think any stylist or actress is brave enough to consider, I think these beauties are destined for Cannes and I can’t wait.

So which celebrities would you like to see wearing this collection? I think Diane Kruger and Emma Stone would look incredible, and I would love to see Cate Blanchett opt for feminine rather than edgy, and I think the Fan Bingbing would look spectacular in the vibrant bubblegum ballgown.

Wedding Inspiration: The Princess Couture Bride

Ralph-and-Russo-bride-2

My wedding is coming up in three months, I already have my two gowns **I know I am greedy**, and generally most details are sorted but that doesn’t mean I don’t swoon over dramatic couture bridal gowns like this one designed by Ralph & Russo.

I think all girls dream of a fairy tale princess dress like this, why wouldn’t you it is simply beautiful, it’s the dress you wish for a lottery win, a sugar daddy or a fairy godmother. I don’t know how much a gown like this would cost, a lot for sure, especially as it took 3,900 hours to do all the hand embroidery – details like that not only make this one special gown but one with a hefty price tag.

But it’s the details of this dress that I truly adore, the 40 different types of beads, the 25 different Swarovski crystal designs, the 6 metre train, and the fact that it needed the help of 5 male models to help the beautiful Hanna Ben Abdesslem turn on the runway.

I just can’t express how exquisite I think this couture bridal gown is, I love everything from the luxurious embroidery to the volume in the skirt and the hand-printed Chantilly-lace effect, I think it is because it marries the modern and traditional bride so well. Now where is my fairy godmother when I need her!!!

To really see the beauty of this gown watch the short film below, the couture bridal gown really shimmers and those details really shine through. Love, love, love it – now this is a wow bridal dress. I am already jealous of the bride who gets to get married in this beauty.

Do you love Ralph & Russo’s couture bridal gown as much as I do?

Haute Couture Week: Jennifer Lopez In Atelier Versace

Jennifer-Lopez-Versace-1

Who: Jennifer Lopez

Where: Attending the Atelier Versace autumn/winter 2014 show on day one of Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris

Wearing: A strapless pure white Atelier Versace gown with thigh-high slit and one fully beaded trouser leg, accented with two metallic straps on the hip, from the Atelier Versace autumn/winter 2014 collection, teamed with an Atelier Versace bracelet and earrings, and silver Versace platform sandals

Verdict: I am just going to say it – I adore this look. There is something about this hybrid gown on Jennifer Lopez that just works.

On paper if you had seen ‘gown with a thigh-high split and one fully beaded trouser leg’ you would have thought that Donatella Versace was off-her-head but when you see in on a superstar like J-Lo, who just embodies what Versace is about, you can’t help but think it looks fantastic.

If it was in a darker colour I don’t think I would have liked it as much but the white looks so amazing against her skin-tone and really works with the glamorous styling of the gold jewellery, so OTT, so Jennifer Lopez, so Versace.

If the outfit wasn’t enough I can’t stop starring at her flawless face, her cheekbones are sculpted to perfect and her eyes are just wow, love it.

Are you as obsessed with Jennifer’s latest look as I am?
