Wedding Inspiration: The Princess Couture Bride

Ralph-and-Russo-bride-2

My wedding is coming up in three months, I already have my two gowns **I know I am greedy**, and generally most details are sorted but that doesn’t mean I don’t swoon over dramatic couture bridal gowns like this one designed by Ralph & Russo.

I think all girls dream of a fairy tale princess dress like this, why wouldn’t you it is simply beautiful, it’s the dress you wish for a lottery win, a sugar daddy or a fairy godmother. I don’t know how much a gown like this would cost, a lot for sure, especially as it took 3,900 hours to do all the hand embroidery – details like that not only make this one special gown but one with a hefty price tag.

But it’s the details of this dress that I truly adore, the 40 different types of beads, the 25 different Swarovski crystal designs, the 6 metre train, and the fact that it needed the help of 5 male models to help the beautiful Hanna Ben Abdesslem turn on the runway.

I just can’t express how exquisite I think this couture bridal gown is, I love everything from the luxurious embroidery to the volume in the skirt and the hand-printed Chantilly-lace effect, I think it is because it marries the modern and traditional bride so well. Now where is my fairy godmother when I need her!!!

To really see the beauty of this gown watch the short film below, the couture bridal gown really shimmers and those details really shine through. Love, love, love it – now this is a wow bridal dress. I am already jealous of the bride who gets to get married in this beauty.

Do you love Ralph & Russo’s couture bridal gown as much as I do?

Haute Couture Week: Jennifer Lopez In Atelier Versace

Jennifer-Lopez-Versace-1

Who: Jennifer Lopez

Where: Attending the Atelier Versace autumn/winter 2014 show on day one of Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris

Wearing: A strapless pure white Atelier Versace gown with thigh-high slit and one fully beaded trouser leg, accented with two metallic straps on the hip, from the Atelier Versace autumn/winter 2014 collection, teamed with an Atelier Versace bracelet and earrings, and silver Versace platform sandals

Verdict: I am just going to say it – I adore this look. There is something about this hybrid gown on Jennifer Lopez that just works.

On paper if you had seen ‘gown with a thigh-high split and one fully beaded trouser leg’ you would have thought that Donatella Versace was off-her-head but when you see in on a superstar like J-Lo, who just embodies what Versace is about, you can’t help but think it looks fantastic.

If it was in a darker colour I don’t think I would have liked it as much but the white looks so amazing against her skin-tone and really works with the glamorous styling of the gold jewellery, so OTT, so Jennifer Lopez, so Versace.

If the outfit wasn’t enough I can’t stop starring at her flawless face, her cheekbones are sculpted to perfect and her eyes are just wow, love it.

Are you as obsessed with Jennifer’s latest look as I am?

Godzilla: Elizabeth Olsen In Elie Saab

Elie-Saab-Elizabeth-Olsen

Who: Elizabeth Olsen

Where: At the London premiere of ‘Godzilla’ held at Odeon Leicester Square in London

Wearing: A strapless midnight blue embellished Elie Saab gown from the Haute Couture autumn/winter 2013 collection, featuring a sheer lace skirt and a matching skinny belt, finished off with navy strappy heels and silver drop Piaget earrings

Verdict: My midnight blue love affair isn’t going anywhere fast, I love this hue as a great alternative to black and it really looks great on the red carpet. As always with Elie Saab this gown is romantic, elegant with a touch of sexy, I love the fully embellished bodice paired with a sheer lace skirt, it makes it modern and youthful.

It was the perfect gown for a red carpet event, not only did it swish nicely but with all the embellished detailing it was sure to twinkle with the flash bulbs. I am glad that because of the detailing in the dress that she kept her styling to a minimum, opting for same-colour skinny belt to nip the dress in at the waist, simply two-strap heels and a silver jewels.

Wedding Inspiration: The Couture Bride

I love checking out the couture collections from Paris, as I am always in awe at the craftsmanship that goes into each piece, and I adore that no gown is too big when it comes to couture. Normally for the spring shows I am pairing up beautiful gowns with gorgeous actresses and hoping that they will wear on the Oscars red carpet, this year however being surrounded with wedding magazines getting inspiration for my own gown I thought I would share some couture bride inspiration.

Top of my wishlist, if I won the lottery, would have to be getting a wedding dress designed by Elie Saab, this man is a genius and his spring 2014 collection was another stunning scene of decadent elegance, gown after gown was just beautiful and the bridal moments were stunning.

The final gown above literally took my breath away when I was watching the live-stream, everything from the off-white hue to the exquisite embroidered detailing and voluminous silhouette – simply stunning. Just imagine how magical it would be to wear a dress like this on your wedding day, you could rest assured that no-one would be stealing your spotlight!!!

As well as Elie Saab, the ethereal musical Valentino gown really caught my eye, so it doesn’t scream traditional bridal gown but there is something about that I think would work for a wedding, especially if you have a love of music.

Other gorgeous dresses that I loved included Dior’s simple-yet-modern gown with its textured perforation dot design, the statement peplum gown from Alexis Mabille’s exquisite collection, and the delicate lace embroidered Valentino gown that will never go out of fashion. Also how divine is this heavily embellished white gown by Georges Hobeika – so swoon worthy!!!

As well as the divine, couture weeks also showcases the flamboyant and more out-there of pieces, including some that could work for some very confident brides. How about the showgirl look from Jean Paul Gaultier or how about walking down the aisle in Stéphane Rolland’s white jumpsuit with wings?

If you won the lottery – which Couture bride would you be?
