Sunshine and Ripped Jeans

Sunshine and Ripped Jeans

First of all I’m sorry for the lack of blog posts the past couple of weeks, I kind of took an impromptu holiday, I didn’t actually go away, well except Berlin for work, but it seems when your husband is off work all you want to do is play and eat lots of food!!! I have to admit I’m finding it hard this week getting back into a groove. It isn’t that I’m struggling for content, I’ve got loads, I’m actually a little overwhelmed about where to start with it all. I have my trip to Berlin, which by the way, was amazing, a spa review, a new beauty brand obsession, more style posts including my favourite maxi dress and some jazzy strippy trousers from Asos, as well as sharing more of my travels to Kuala Lumpur. I just can’t believe how busy I’ve been, normally August is a little downtime before the madness of fashion week, but not this year.

So as it has been two weeks since my last style post so I thought I would share one from my recent Berlin trip and show off the amazing ripped jeans from American Eagle Outfitters that I was raving about in a recent blog post on their pop-up in Old Street station, which by the way is still open until September 20, as well as this bargain sleeveless  coat from Boohoo.com, which is now only £12 – for more great options check out this shopping post

Summer Wedding Guest Style

Summer Wedding Guest Style

So last year was all about our wedding, this year it seems we have a wedding in every season, which can I just say makes it extra difficult to plan wedding guest outfits, but I’m totally up for the challenge!!! I’ve already shared my winter/spring wedding look earlier this year, and here is my summer wedding guest style, I sense a theme I do love a pop of colour at a wedding.

Summer I think is the easiest season to find something for a wedding the high street is filled with occasional wear for the prom, racing and wedding season, but it is hard sometimes deciding on a look especially when you aren’t sure what sort of shindig you are attending. But one thing I can tell you is colour is never a bad thing at a wedding, unless it is a black and white theme, colour is cheerful, you will pop in pictures, and if you can’t go bright at a wedding when can you!!!

My Style: The Red Bull Air Race & A Fun Pair Of Jeans

I am slowly pushing myself to be a little braver with my fashion choices, so instead of black, black and a little bit more black, or denim and a comfortable jumper, or a cute skater skirt with a top, I am looking at clothes in my wardrobe that I love but haven’t really had the confidence to wear out.

So for a day trip to enjoy the Red Bull Air Race at Ascot a few weeks back I decided to give these fun MiH rose-printed red jeans an outing. These beauties are a little out of my comfort zone, my feeling was that they made me look chunkier in the thighs, and the bold colour really made me question whether they were really ‘me’, but after 30 minutes of convincing from my fiancé I decided to just go for it.

I didn’t go crazy out there, as I did pair them with my favourite colour black, but hey everyone has to start somewhere, and I really thought that the black boyfriend tee went really well and look good tucked in at one side, and because it wasn’t the warmest of days I finished off my look with a three-quarter sleeved blazer.

I think the confidence of loving my outfit made the day even better, does that happen to anyone else? I got a lot of compliments about my outfit, which is always nice, I felt comfortable and I actually think I look skinnier, maybe these jeans are a little more flattering than I gave them credit for.

It was a great day, helped by the sun shining for the majority of the day, there were the crazy race pilots whizzing through the blow-up gates, we had a dancing Chinook, the incredible Breitling Wingwalkers doing stunts on top of planes, and we even got a fly-by from the Red Arrows. Red Bull always know how to put on a great event and they never miss an opportunity to rock a great theme and the Race Club hospitality area was set out like a flying club from years-gone-by and I even got to meet Captain Bertie, which was such a highlight.

So what do you think – are you a fan of these red rose-print jeans?

My Style: Monochrome With A Pop Of Colour

I do love wearing black and white, where it is as block colours or a vibrant print, I just think monochrome is chic and elegant and perfect to wear to meetings followed by cocktails and dinner with friends. I wore this look a few weeks ago to an Echo Falls event where I interviewed Holly Fulton, I just thought it was the perfect summer evening look, monochrome with a pop of colour with my fab Rebecca Minkoff bag.

The outfit started with this fab skirt, which no one could believe was Primark. I love a full skirt and this pleated beauty with a sexy split is a great day-to-evening piece and I think it went perfectly with this black River Island shirt with its sheer paneling.

The final touches were my accessories, the black sandals from Clarks are so comfortable that they are great for meeting hopping as well as socialising, and they are fast becoming my favourite black shoe because they literally go with anything. I just adore block heels and I love the suede and patent mixed with the retro styling of the ankle strap, oh and did I mention they are uber-comfy as they have cushion layer.

I was going to pair my look with a black handbag, but because the sun was shining, this yellow beauty caught my eye in my room and I just had to go with a pop of colour. I really feel it enhances the floral print on the skirt, as well as make the monochrome more vibrant.

Are you a fan of adding a pop of colour to your monochrome looks?
