My Style: Monochrome With A Pop Of Colour

My style Monochrome 1 My Style: Monochrome With A Pop Of Colour %tag

I do love wearing black and white, where it is as block colours or a vibrant print, I just think monochrome is chic and elegant and perfect to wear to meetings followed by cocktails and dinner with friends. I wore this look a few weeks ago to an Echo Falls event where I interviewed Holly Fulton, I just thought it was the perfect summer evening look, monochrome with a pop of colour with my fab Rebecca Minkoff bag.

The outfit started with this fab skirt, which no one could believe was Primark. I love a full skirt and this pleated beauty with a sexy split is a great day-to-evening piece and I think it went perfectly with this black River Island shirt with its sheer paneling.

The final touches were my accessories, the black sandals from Clarks are so comfortable that they are great for meeting hopping as well as socialising, and they are fast becoming my favourite black shoe because they literally go with anything. I just adore block heels and I love the suede and patent mixed with the retro styling of the ankle strap, oh and did I mention they are uber-comfy as they have cushion layer.

I was going to pair my look with a black handbag, but because the sun was shining, this yellow beauty caught my eye in my room and I just had to go with a pop of colour. I really feel it enhances the floral print on the skirt, as well as make the monochrome more vibrant.

Are you a fan of adding a pop of colour to your monochrome looks?

The gorgeously retro Orla Kiely x Clarks collection is now available online and all you really need to decide is whether you are a Matilda, Milly, Maggie, Mary or a Marianne – as each pair from the spring/summer 2014 collection is amazing.

From closed-toe Mary Janes to wedges and vintage-inspired slingbacks, each pair of shoes from this fabulous collection will brighten up your wardrobe and you will be willing summer to come along. My favourites have to be the navy and cream version of the Marianne, which could be easily worn with tights until the weather gets better, and the red Milly slingback Mary Janes flats.

Prices range from £90 for the flats to £120 for the platforms – but seriously who can resist the glossiness of this collection.

Orla kiely clarks 4 Shoe Lust: Orla Kiely x Clarks For SS14 %tag

There is something about that Orla Kiely that instantly appeals to me, I just love the charming prints and the retro-tastic styles, and I am always a fan of the designers presentations at London Fashion Week. This spring/summer 2014 show was incredible, packed but amazing, and as well as loving all the clothes and accessories the shoes in collaboration with high street footwear retailer Clarks was one of the highlights.

Last month I got to have a closer look at the Orla Kiely x Clarks collection and I was blown away by the pieces that will be on sale from February for as little as £90. There are six styles in the capsule collection from vibrant block platforms to 70s-style wedges, feminine mid-heel shoes, and my favourite the slingback Mary Jane flats. As well as loving the bright yellow, red, blue and green hues, I adore that each pair features the designer’s signature Orla Kiely floral print.

What can be better than stylish, colourful and comfortable shoes – seriously lusting after the whole collection.

Are you excited about the Orla Kiely x Clarks collection?

LFW Day 3: My Style – Kate Mouse Hits Fashion Week

MyStyleDay3LFW4 LFW Day 3: My Style Kate Mouse Hits Fashion Week %tag

I can’t believe it is Sunday already, this has been one of the busiest London Fashion Weeks for me and I am so happy as I do love the buzz of a catwalk show and all the drama and socialising that goes with it. Whereas Saturday is official being re-named ‘the day that rains’, today the sun is shining, which means I could finally get my sunglasses out.

Quiet day for me today, I have a number of shows in but I have only done one, the Prophetic show at Vauxhall Fashion Scout, so I can catch up on editing my images and bringing you all the news from the first two days, seriously I have a lot of stuff to share, and generally taking a breather before the madness that is my Monday schedule.

Today’s look is kind of casual, mainly because I was only around for a few hours, but also one of my favourite looks so far. I do love a good maxi skirt and this is one of my most comfortable and surprisingly long enough ones from New Look; I paired it with my Simeon Farrar t-shirt, Long Tall Sally leather jacket, and finishing off the look is my Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Bag.

You know I love t-shirts, well my Simeon Farrar printed Kate Mouse tee is fast becoming one of my favourites and most versatile pieces, I really just love it and couldn’t resist working it to fashion week.

Fashion week wouldn’t be complete without getting out my trust blue Rebecca Minkoff, this bag is one of my all time favs not only is it a great colour to add a pop to my mainly black wardrobe, but it is also an ideal size for all my belongings. Today I have paired my RM with my new zebra printed New Look scarf, I was wearing to keep the chill off but I love attaching scarves to bags and I thought this worked well.

Finishing off my look today are my Calvin Klein sunglasses, when it comes to dark frames I am more of a dark brown than black type of gal and these are my wear anywhere and everywhere glasses. LFW really does look better in the sun!!!

My Style: When Only Jeans, A Cute Tee And Chanel Will Do

MuppetsStyle3 My Style: When Only Jeans, A Cute Tee And Chanel Will Do %tag

I still get very uneasy about sharing style posts, mainly because I don’t think I have that many clothes so there maybe a lot of repetition, secondly I am not as comfortable in my body as I used to be, which I am totally working on at the gym, and lastly I just think my dress sense is more about comfort and what I like, than trends and style.

One of my main wardrobe staples has to be jeans. I own a lot of pairs, some which don’t fit any more yet I hold on to them in hope that one day they’ll fasten up, others are reserved for weekend use only, some have no place outside the home but are comfortable as hell, and then there are my top flight jeans that make me feel amazing *and slim* – these Gap Long & Lean beauties are one of those pair.

I have to admit I haven’t had them long, I bought them in a Gap outlet because they were ridiculously cheap, and I am completely in love with them. I sometimes have a problem getting jeans long enough as I have a 33 inch inside leg and to wear with heeled boots they need to be extra long – these ones from Gap are perfect. Not only is the length excellent, I also adore the shape of these boot-cuts, and the dark distressed colouring is the perfect slimming trick – I feel that these jeans make me look taller and slimmer *I know it is all in my head* and I feel great wearing them.

Well when you’ve found the perfect pair of jeans it is only fair and right to team them with a funky tee and today’s choice is my new Muppets ‘Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem’ one. What I love other than the fact it is the Muppets and it has a vintage vibe to it, has to be the slouchy neckline, which drops nicely off one-shoulder. Stylish, comfortable with a touch of quirkiness – perfect for me.

Finishing off my look are my amazing Chanel sunglasses – they totally make you wish for sun all year round!!!
