Cannes Film Festival: Nicole Kidman In Dior Couture

Wearing: A strapless floral embroidered Christian Dior Couture gown from the spring 2013 collection, teamed with coral pointed Dior heels and diamond stud earrings

Verdict: Wow, I can’t remember seeing Nicole Kidman looking so girlie and fresh before but this strapless floral beaded beauty shows her embracing her inner Grace Kelly and I love it. The dress itself really plays off the 1950s silhouette but adds a modern twist with the intricate beading work and the vibrant colours.

When Nicole was announced as the face of Jimmy Choo just before Cannes I was expecting a lot of heel-flattering dresses, however this look isn’t complemented by Jimmy Choo heels but Dior ones, but either way I love the pop of coral it works really well.

Finishing up her look is a strange quiff side ponytail, simple-yet-elegant diamond earrings and gorgeous fuchsia pink lips.

For me Nicole was easily one of the best dressed on the red carpet on Day 1 at Cannes.

I love it when a great cover drops through the letterbox and they don’t get much better than ELLE’s December cover featuring the gorgeous Cameron Diaz. The 40-year-old actress looks gorgeous on the subscriber cover, as well as being a vision in pink in this Christian Dior jacket and silk-tulle skirt, I love how adorable she looks.

Out promoting her new film Gambit, I love how David Slijper has captured her beauty rather than her sexuality, which is normally what is on show with Cameron’s covers.

When I tweeted a picture earlier of the cover some people commented that she looks a little scared, hey that is what I like about this image, I have to say I think it kind of rivals Gwen Stefani’s pink cover for Harper’s Bazaar US for one of my favourites of the year.

ELLE Dec Cameron Cover Loving: Cameron Diaz For ELLE UK %tagOn Sale on November 7, the newsstand cover is just as stunning with Cameron wearing a Chanel Resort dress, I just love the embroidery on the shoulders and the waist. I am not however totally on board with her pose though.

You might be thinking that this Chanel dress looks a little familiar, well that is because you might remember that Emma Stone wore it to the LA premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man.

Both covers are great, but so too is the accompanying editorial, with Cameron wearing a gorgeous pink and blue silk and lace dress by Erdem, a green lace Valentino gown, a beaded Gucci number, and a floral printed Roksanda Ilincic jumpsuit that I think only Cameron could pull off!!!

Total Recall: Jessica Biel in Christian Dior Couture

Where: At the Hollywood premiere of ‘Total Recall’ at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles

Wearing: A strapless pastel pink Christian Dior gown that falls just above the ankles, with a nipped-in waist, exaggerated hips and outer pocket detail from the autumn/winter 2012 Couture collection, teamed with Louis Vuitton silver-tipped heels, a white Jimmy Choo clutch, and Tom Binns jewellery

Verdict: Wow it seems that Couture was the order of the day for the Total Recall premiere, Kate Beckinsale looked stunning in a dramatic Armani Privé gown, and Jessica it seems decided to go for a girlie approach in this pretty retro-inspired Dior gown.

I love the colour on her, I love the white accessories – the Louis Vuitton silver toe-caps are gorgeous, and the cylindrical clutch is cute, but I draw the line at the heavy jewellery.

Everything about this look is delicate and elegant but that necklace is a little OTT for me, it is striking and with another dress it would have been stunning, but with this gown it really doesn’t work and kind of spoils the overall look.

Wearing:An ivory Christian Dior Haute Couture embroidered and organza dress with a ruffled skirt, teamed with silver T-Strap Christian Louboutin heels with spike-embellishment detailing to the front and Chopard earrings

Verdict: Well it was the white-off on the red carpet last night, Marion Cotillard really is gave Anne Hathaway a run for her money, and it makes me excited for the rest of the promo tour. I like this frothy dress it just doesn’t wow me like Anne’s Prabal Gurung gown, I think it is because Marion could do so much better than this look.

What I do love though are those insane ‘Lady Max’ heels, it gives this girl dress an edge – I also can’t fault her impeccable make-up and hair – I love her side-swept up-do and glossed lips.

Who gets your vote – Anne or Marion?

If like me and you were fascinated and blow away by the setting of Raf Simons’ debut collection for Dior Couture earlier this month and the salons filled floor-to-ceiling with gorgeous flowers you will adore this behind-the-scenes video Dior has posted of the flowers being installed for the show.

Over one million flowers were used, yep one million – how insane is that, and the installation on the video took four days with each flower hand-woven into the walls. This video just shows the incredible lengths that fashion houses go to for their fashion shows and I love it.

Fancy recreating the look? Well you will just need to raid your local florist for delphiniums, peonies, roses, orchids, and achillea!!!

There is something special about Mila Kunis, of course she is gorgeous, but it is something else that draws me in, I think it is because she is a bit of a chameleon. This is the girl who can rock double denim on the cover of Glamour to embodying old-Hollywood glamour for a high-end advertising campaign – that is hard to do.

This is her second campaign as the face of Miss Dior handbags and I love the Fifties Hollywood film star vibe to the gorgeous black and white shots. Last time around the campaign was demure, this time I am loving the bouffant hair, the retro paparazzi mob, and the incredible Dior gown that she is wearing.

Captured in Los Angeles by photographer Mario Sorrenti and styled by former Paris Vogue editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld this is a beautiful campaign - Mila is an elegant beauty in this striking ad and I am sure it will jump off the page when I see it in a magazine as well. I also hear that there is a short film with the campaign – I can’t wait to see that.

There was a lot of anticipation surrounding Raf Simons’ debut collection for Christian Dior, hardly surprising with all the rumours on who would get the head designer job after Galliano, and because of the circumstances in which Galliano left, and whether Simons minimalist and linear style would work at Dior, especially for couture.

Can you imagine being under that much pressure? No matter how dazzling this collection was, and it was gorgeous, refined and romantic, the comparisons to Galliano and his theatrical approach were always going to come, my opinion is that Simons has adapted to Dior brilliantly and he showcased the clothes and not the drama yesterday, and it totally worked.

Another comparison that was inevitable was comparing the collection to his previous work at Jil Sander, which I think shined through in his signature minimal silhouettes, and especially that red cashmere coat. But this wasn’t a bad thing I liked the combination of the homage to Dior’s past with the florals, the romance, the nipped in waists and full skirts, they mixed in beautifully with his minimal silhouettes. For me this felt like a whole new start for Dior, and left me wanting more, as well as being excited for the ready-to-wear collection in September.

I have to admit I was completely blown away by the setting, did you see the floor-to-ceiling blooms it looked incredible, I just wish I was in Paris to smell them!!! I loved the start with the chic tuxedo, and the beautiful very Dior a-line dresses, and of course the princess tulle dresses towards the end that I am sure will come out for award season, but best of all I loved the combination of the cut-off-ball gowns with the cigarette pants – tres chic!!!
