Shopping: The Chloé Look For Less

Shopping: The Chloé Look For Less

There are lots of things I’m lusting for summer, lace-up gladiator sandals, crochet detailed dresses, contrasting candy-coloured arm candy, as well as retro-inspired denim midi’s, floaty tops with lace-up details, suede coats, lace panelled tops and floaty maxi dresses, you’ve guessed it, I’m obsessing over everything Chloé.

There is something about Chloé that just makes me swoon, want to skip out on my mortgage payment and blow my wages on designer gear. I like other designer labels, I even love some, but I don’t lust over them as much as I do Chloé. I was obsessed during Phoebe Philo’s reign and it seems my love is growing deeper now that Clare Waight Keller is at the helm, her retro-inspired bohemian spirit is infectious. I can’t be the only one wanting to be a Chloé girl, can I?

There is one small snag, OK not so small, the designer price tag associated with everything Chloé, we are taking around £1,000 for the gorgeous Chloé Drew bag, which is right at the top of my wishlist, and even a silk crepe tank is going to set you back around £400, so if like me your bank manager wouldn’t be happy if you skipped out on your bills I’ve put together some great alternatives on the highstreet – so you too can get the Chloé look for less.

My Top Five SS15 Campaigns

My Top Five SS15 Campaigns

Normally for me it is the autumn/winter campaigns that really brings the fashion alive, maybe I say that because for me the winter collections are what I love to see on the catwalk, but these five fashion houses are really making me love spring/summer with their incredible fashion ads.

There is a stripped back feel to all the campaigns this season, I don’t mean that there isn’t as much money pouring into them or that they are less creative, just that the clothes are doing the talking rather than a celebrity face, well except Julia Roberts, who even appears in complete contrast to her perfume ambassadors days in a make-up free shot for the Givenchy campaign. There is a hint of darkness in some, especially Valentino and Prada, as well as oozing coolness from the likes of Chloé and Coach.

Wedding Inspiration: How To Find Your Perfect Scent

I am such a lover of fragrances, I really do love how certain smells bring back memories, so when it came to my wedding day I knew that I wanted a new scent, something special and romantic, and ideally a fragrance that would conjure up memories of my wedding day for years to come.

Quite a hard task for a scent, especially as I wanted something new and I seem to have added a lot to my collection over the years. I asked a lot of my friends what they did on their wedding day and quite a few just used their favourite scent rather than a new one, but I do love the idea of a fragrance that represents the joy, happiness and love of a wedding day.

There are lots of gorgeous options out there, from the classic Christian Dior J’adore, the fun Dolce & Gabbana Dolce, as well as the sweet Marc Jacobs Lola, and the romantic Carven Le Parfum, which is my current go-to scent. I also loved Stella McCartney, Victor and Rolf Flowerbomb, Elie Saab Le Parfum, Giorgio Armani Code, and you have to try Oscar de la Renta’s Something Blue, which can be your scent as well as your something blue.

In the end it was a hard choice but I think I have found a winner in Chloé, I just fell in love with its romantic rose scent, as well as the hint of peonies and lychee. It just has an effortless chic about it, simply yet still sexy and luxurious, and as soon as I tried it I knew it was the one. The fact that the bottle is exquisite just made it even easier to commit. I really can’t wait to wear this beautiful scent on my wedding day.

I kind of stumbled upon my wedding scent, after trying nearly ever fragrance in the store, so to make it a little easier for you I spoke to the experts at The Perfume Shop for the top tips on selecting the ultimate scent:

  • Perfume is individual, each scent is different to different people. As a conductor of our senses, everyone’s skin reacts differently to others! It is therefore important to spray the perfume on your skin rather than on a blotter and leave it to settle.
  • Everyone wants their perfume to be long-lasting and whilst EDP last longer on the skin than EDT, consider layering with body lines such as lotions and shower gels.
  • EDP gives a stronger scent so is perfect for evening occasions whilst an EDT is great for everyday use where it will be sprayed multiple times throughout the day.
  • There are other pulse points than just your wrists and neck. Try spraying behind the knees, the ears or in the hollow of your arms.
  • As winter approaches it is important to remember that scents vary from season to season. Scent does not usually last as long in cooler months as the skin is not as hydrated. Opt for a heavier scent during the winter.

Good luck on finding your wedding scent and leave me a message below with what you went for.

I can’t believe I get married in 4 days!!!

Shopping: The Outnet’s 5th Birthday Collection

Can you believe that The Outnet is only 5 years old? For me it seems to have been around for as long as its higher-end, exclusive big sister Net-a-Porter, and it really has come a long way since its days as just a clearance outlet. Yeah it has always been the place to go for a designer bargain but the past 18-months or so I have really found it a go-to site when shopping for any occasion, not only for discounted gear but also for its Iris & Ink in-house collection of luxury staples and its accessories are always so incredible, my last few designer handbags have come from The Outnet.

So to celebrate its 5th Birthday, The Outnet has teamed up with 17 amazing designers including Alexander McQueen, Balmain, Chloé and J.W.Anderson to produce a collection featuring their re-issued, best-loved pieces and I basically want everything!!!

A few weeks ago I got to check out the collection, basically imagined spending away my wedding fund, and styled up a few of my favourite pieces, which is hard when the line also includes Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu, Nicholas Kirkwood and Haizhen Wang and starts at just £130.

Of course I instantly fell in love with the accessories – the Squeeze It’ patent-leather Alexander McQueen clutch is to-die-for, I love it so much and the £357 price-tag isn’t bag for a classic piece like this, and pair it with those Nicholas Kirkwood panelled suede heels for £318 and you have some killer accessories to jazz up any look. I also loved the classic dark-brown Chloé wedges, a bargain at £225, I think these will be an instant sell-out, as will the statement Oscar de la Renta resin and gold-tone floral necklace, £265.The-Outnet-5th-birthday-2

If I had to pick a look from the collection that I would love to wear I think it would have to be the Haizhen Wang black leather jacket, the shape at the back is gorgeous, teamed with the romantic floral-print silk-jacquard Jason Wu dress, paired with those stunning Nicholas Kirkwood heels, and the bold red Oscar de la Renta necklace. I would love to throw in the McQueen clutch but that might just be a little too much!!!

There were also a couple of great looks to wear to a summer wedding for an elegant affair why not try Roland Mouret’s sky-blue O’Hara dress, the colour and fit of this dress is perfection, I really love the folded neck detailing and exposed zip down the back. While a cool, hip wedding you could go for this fun printed silk and moiré pencil Preen by Thornton Bregazzi skirt, team with a white blouse or a crisp white T-shirt and bright accessories.

There are just so many options with this fabulous limited edition collection, but trust me don’t wait around long I think most of these pieces will be instant sell-outs.

Which The Outnet 5th Birthday collection pieces do you have your eye on?
