Cannes 2014: All About Blake Lively…Oh & Ryan Reynolds

There aren’t many actress that have really posses that Old Hollywood magic any more, that can leave you speechless and wanting more – the red carpet has become a little predictable, we all know that Jennifer Lawrence will more than likely wear Dior, and I suppose it had to happen with the importance of a stylist, a lot is riding on celebrities appearances. Which is why I am so glad that Blake Lively keeps me guessing, surprises me with her choices, and always hits the red carpet looking elegant, sexy and glamorous.

This is why the Cannes Film Festival this year really does belong to the Gossip Girls’ star, Blake has wowed on every appearance and even though she is the face of a Gucci fragrance, you know that isn’t her only go-to designer, OK it is a lot, but not always. Following on from her fabulous appearance at the Met Gala Blake really seems to be on a roll and when Gucci are providing gowns like this it is no wonder she keeps on wearing them.

Her first look was probably my favourite of her Cannes red carpet appearances, the two-tone bordeaux silk-chiffon Gucci Premiere gown that she wore to the ‘Grace of Monaco’ premiere was just divine. Not only was it interesting with its geometric neckline and open back but I adore the elegance of the pleats teamed with the sexiness of that thigh-high split, plus it really did fit her beautifully. This was also probably one of my favourite hairstyles that she sported as well, that messy high braided ponytail looks like it was taken off the SS14 runways.

Look two was very different from the first, very fashion-forward and totally stunning – wearing an iridescent ankle-length Chanel Couture dress embellished with sequins, tulle and organza embroideries from the spring/summer 2014 collection. Not many actresses could pull off this look, I actually thought that Keira Knightley would have optioned this beauty, but I think Blake carries it off well, but I do think that it would have worked better on someone not quite as busty. What I do love about this look though is the styling, it is basically a carbon-copy of the what walked down the runway, complete with a silk kimono draped around her arms.

I think look three, another Gucci Premiere gown will have a lot of people gushing, might be more about her date than the dress, there is no denying what a gorgeous couple Blake and Ryan Reynolds make. Supporting her man at his ‘Captives’ premiere, Blake really did shine in this strapless black and white silk crepe fifties inspired evening gown – I love everything about it – from the silhouette complete with a full skirt and a dramatic train to the styling of the Lorraine Schwartz diamonds on her necklaces, earrings, bracelet and engagement ring. For me this look is what Cannes is all about, big, dramatic and show-stopping.

Ryan didn’t look half bad either in his Gucci black satin peak lapel one button Signoria tuxedo – I love the white shirt, white bow-tie combination. Is there a better looking couple out there at the moment?

Which of Blake’s three looks was your favourite?

Store Loving: Inside Osprey London’s Regent Street Flagship

osprey london regent st 16 Store Loving: Inside Osprey Londons Regent Street Flagship %tag

There is something special about Osprey London, not only because it makes great handbags that I adore, or the fact that it really does champion British manufacturing and design, but because it is very much a family run business with founder and creative director Graeme Ellisdon at the helm, his wife Alex curating the amazing jewellery collections, and even his son Jack is on hand in the store’s Saddlery Cafe.

Much like the brand’s St Alban’s store, the Regent Street store utilises the amazing Grade II listed building, which was once a Barclay’s bank, to showcase the eclectic mix of leather accessories, jewellery, interior pieces, even knitted toys and food. Everything about the store interior is divine – from the solid oak doors at the entrance to the exquisite chandeliers and the stainless steel staircase and that’s without talking about the brand’s diverse selection of interior pieces such as gorgeous arm chairs, antique picture frames and a fun choice of cushions.

There is very much a “home” feel to the store, which is apparently the vibe that Graeme was going for, with the upstairs set out more like a fashion store with its walls covered with gorgeous leather bags and display cabinets filled with handmade jewellery, while downstairs brings a slice of the countryside into central London. I love that the store is a destination, I think I could have spent hours just picking up every last item, there is really so many things I didn’t even know I wanted for the house!!!

As well as buying gorgeous handbags and pieces for the home, the flagship also houses an informal cafe area in the style of the Saddlery Cafe at St Albans, think cute bone china tea cups, delicious cakes and one of the best hot chocolates ever. I also love that the sitting areas are situated within the former bank’s vaults – super cosy and I can’t wait to do tea and cake there soon.

If you are down the Piccadilly Circus end of Regent Street then trust me you have to pop by for a look, not only will you probably leave with a new handbag or necklace, but you will pick up lots of pinnable ideas for your home, I have my eye on a £5k multicoloured sofa.

Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit: Keira Knightley Is Pretty In Chanel

Keria Knightley chanel Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit: Keira Knightley Is Pretty In Chanel %tagWho: Keira Knightley

Where: At the premiere of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit at TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood

Wearing: A navy Chanel dress with white-trim around the neckline, cuffs and around the waist, and accented with bow detailing, teamed with round-toe heels and smoky blue eyes

Verdict: There aren’t many Hollywood stars that could pull this non-glam vintage-inspired look on the red carpet for a glitzy premiere, maybe Diane Kruger and most certainly my new red carpet favourite Michelle Dockery, and Keira Knightley really does pull it off with ease.

For some this look might seem a little dull and even frumpy, for me it is the dresses classic chic vibe that makes it pretty, and I adore that it is navy rather than black, a colour I am a little obsessed with and you don’t often see it on the red carpet.

As well as loving her pretty frock, it was her smoky blue eye make-up that really grabbed my attention – isn’t that just perfect with her wavy updo.

There is no denying that Keira is beautiful, but on this occasion I think she was up-staged on the red carpet by her co-star Chris Pine who just looked incredible in his tailored Ralph Lauren suit. He looks hot!!!

Are you a fan of Keira’s vintage-inspired look?

Editorial Loving: Diane Kruger For Glamour Paris

Diane Kruger GlamParis Editorial Loving: Diane Kruger For Glamour Paris %tag

I know I have already shared the cover of Glamour Paris’ November issue with Diane Kruger – but I have just seen the accompanying editorial and I just had to share it – as it is amazing!!!

Shot by Jason Kim, Diane Kruger shows off her incredible figure in a high-fashion shoot styled by fashion editor Virginie Benarroch wearing lot of Chanel, including an OTT belt that I would die for and a perfume bottle clutch – love, love, love the styling.

Now you’ve seen the rest of the editorial – do you love Diane Kruger’s Chanel love affair in Glamour Paris?

Cover Loving: Diane Kruger For Glamour Paris & C California Style

Diane Kruger Covers Cover Loving: Diane Kruger For Glamour Paris & C California Style %tag

So my girl crush Diane Kruger has scored herself another couple of magazine covers with equal love for Chanel on both of them. The first is Glamour Paris where the actress rocks a whole lot of Chanel bling and the second is for C California Style magazine wearing a gorgeous black and white ensemble. As well as being a little Chanel overload, I know she is the face of their new beauty campaign, I get the feeling that The Bridge star loves styling her hair to the side!!!

I think out of the two covers Glamour Paris shot by Jason Kim just pips it. Even though it is a beauty special the magazine didn’t go for a cute, girlie close-up, they went for an edgy, attitude-filled image that verges slightly into trashy territory. For me, this cover is brash and OTT and I love, for some I think there will be too much bling.

The accompanying editorial is cute and quirky, with Diane showing off her model features while having make-up applied. Her eyes on the second shot are incredible!!!

There is a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot, check it out here, where Diane rocks a number of other Chanel looks including a gold chained belt – I hope that there is also a fashion shoot within the magazine as well.

More high-fashion and more prim and proper is the cover of C California Style magazine. Don’t get me wrong it is a great cover, but it doesn’t blow me away as much as the incredible editorial. Shot by Matthias Vriens-McGrath, I love the monochrome styling of the shoot, Diane looks elegant in gowns by Dior, Prada, and Altuzarra. With my favourite being that stunning backless Balenciaga gown.

Both covers and both editorials are so different, it is the reason I love to see Diane Kruger on the pages of magazines as much as I do on the red carpet as you know it will also be amazing.

Are you a fan of her jewellery-heavy Glamour Paris cover or is the elegant black and white Chanel dress for C California Style more your taste?

Editorial Loving: Miley Cryus In Couture For Harper’s Bazaar

Harpers bazaar sept miley 1 Editorial Loving: Miley Cryus In Couture For Harpers Bazaar %tag

Singer Miley Cyrus has taken out her grill and put her twerking on hold to look all glamorous in the September issue of Harper's Bazaar US wearing the most gorgeous haute couture looks from the autumn/winter collections.

Styled by Lessie Lessin and shot by Terry Richardson, the Can't Stop singer looks elegant wearing looks by Armani Prive, Chanel, Dior, Valentino, Giambattista Valli, and Atelier Versace.

I love all the pieces, the styling is amazing, but my favourites has to be that exquisite ruffled Armani Prive gown draped out in front of the car, it is a gown waiting for a glitzy award show red carpet, and the gorgeous red Giambattista Valli gown captured in front of the sunset.

Every since she cut her hair she has been on a fashion transformation and this editorial shows that she is all grown up and it suits her. It is a shame really that they didn't give her the cover.

Do you like Miley's couture editorial in Harper's Bazaar?

Editorial Flashback: US Vogue ‘Beauty & The Beast’ Starring Drew Barrymore

US Vogue April05 Drew 7 Editorial Flashback: US Vogue Beauty & The Beast Starring Drew Barrymore %tag

I am a collector of magazines, which some might say I am a hoarder of magazines, but it is because of editorials like this that I can’t seem to get rid of any of my old magazines. Recently I re-organised my office and came across a lot of magazines stored in boxes, which of course meant I had to decide which ones stayed and which ones went, I have to be honest not a lot went to the recycling!!!

This fairytale editorial featuring Drew Barrymore featured in US Vogue’s April 2005 issue and is one of my favourite celebrity editorials, not only is it filled with incredible Haute Couture gowns styled by Grace Coddington – I love the Chanel dress she is wearing looking into the mirror, but it is an editorial with a story.

I have noticed over the years that the large drama-filled editorials like this one shot by Annie Leibovitz is a rarity, granted US Vogue’s recent magazine had a great Homeland set shoot, which was also captured by Leibovitz, but even that doesn’t have the Haute Couture glamour of this Beauty & the Beast inspire shoot.

I often wonder why more magazines don’t tell as many stories any more other than these are the trends, maybe its about budgets, lack of time, or access to great Haute Couture pieces, or even that celebrities don’t want to take part in a lengthy shoot like this – it is such a shame as Coddington proves in this editorial that when done well the concept really can make an impact years down the line.

Everything from the gorgeous Haute Couture gowns from Dior, Chanel and Christian Lacroix to the exquisite set design and the beautiful Drew Barrymore – this is simply one of my favourite editorials from US Vogue.
