Wearing: A red tapering double-breasted Giorgio Armani Privé gown featuring flared sleeves, embroidered  all over with tiny red square lacquer sequins and a black trim from the spring/summer 2009 collection, teamed with black shoes and black drop earrings

Verdict: I have missed Cate Blanchett from the award season red carpet so it was nice to see her at Australia’s answer to the BAFTAS wearing this gorgeous Asian-inspired gown.

This gown is full on drama with the bold shoulders and flared hemline, full on glamour with the red shimming sequins, and full of sexy with the plunging neckline - Cate looks incredible.

We haven’t had a great Armani Privé gown this award season so it was nice to see this beauty and it gives me hope that this look will make stylists call in other pieces for the Oscars. Do you remember when Anne Hathaway wore that gorgeous gold number? I want to see more of that!!!

Wearing: A black feathered Alexander McQueen gown with ostrich hemline from the autumn/winter 2012 collection, teamed with an Alexander McQueen black pom-pom skull clutch andVan Cleef & Arpels jewellery

Verdict: I think Cate Blanchett is the ideal ambassador for Alexander McQueen as she really can pull off such dramatic looks, for some I am sure they were looking for more from Cate, but I love this gorgeous feathered gown.

What I love most about Cate has to be attitude, she always looks relaxed, completely owns a look, and doesn’t need anything extra to make herself shine, her simple hairstyle is perfection with this gown.

Forget spring/summer 2012, pre-fall 2012 collections are all the rage on the red carpet at the moment, and Louis Vuitton has already had three major Hollywood celebs working the exquisite pieces. The collection is filled with gorgeous 60s silhouettes, sparkly sequins, and extravagant luxurious fabrics – it really does have a charm about it.

I think my favourite look so far has to be Rooney Mara’s emerald-green sleeveless pocketed dress at the 27th annual Santa Barbara Film Festival Awards – I love the kick of the skirt around the hips and it is good to see Rooney wearing a splash of colour – even if it is dark green. But I do adore the embellished beauties that Reese Witherspoon and Cate Blanchett – I think that Reese’s emerald-green and black version just pips Cate’s ivory and gold combination.

With no full length gowns I am not expecting many more red carpet appearances, but there are some gorgeous separates, cute princess coats, and beautiful mini-dresses that I am hoping some of my favourite celebrities will wear on their various promotional tours.

These are my three favourite looks – a yellow version of the one that Rooney wore, an exquisite military-detailed black dress, and the forties-inspired dreamy peach day dress with a tulip print on it – I really want to see someone like Zooey Deschanel wear this.

Also special mention has to go to this coat – love the shape, love the detailing, I am sure I am not going to love the price – but hey one can dream!!!

Autumn/winter covers are by far the best for me, so it is nice that even though all our UK and US covers are giving us spring and summer looks, I still have Australia to keep me happy. This is one of the best covers of the year so far, the gorgeous Cate Blanchett looks amazing on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Australia May 2011 cover.

Looking elegant, Cate is wearing a breath-taking embroidered black lace dress adorned with floral appliqués, from Australian label Romance Was Born. I love how classy this cover is, with the black and white picture paired with an understated gold typeface – very chic!

But what I love most is that this cover has introduced me to Australian label Romance Was Born, which I have to admit I have never come across before. The Aussie brand, created by design duo Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales, is a gorgeous line of statement pieces, whether it is floor-skimming black lace gown’s like this, or a mini dress adorned with flower appliques or body-con dress in striking prints, this label really has something special. I have been flicking through their past collections on their site and I am a fan, I also love that this a brand with integrity as from design to production, everything is done entirely in Australia. There aren’t many labels that can say that.

One thing for sure, I will be paying more attention to Australia’s Fashion Week in future!!!

Where: Arrives at the 83rd Academy Awards in Hollywood, California

Wearing: A lavender Givenchy Haute Couture gown from the spring/summer 2011 collection, teamed with vintage Van Cleef & Arpel 1946 Tassel diamond bracelet from the Private Collection and a 1981 Vintage earrings with oval fancy vivid yellow diamonds surrounded by white diamonds

Verdict: This is more than just a dress, it is like a work of art, and only someone like Cate could pull it off. As soon as I saw it I knew instantly that it would be one of my best dressed of the night, just for the drama of the gown it wins me over, then the amazing colour, and the pleats – LOVE it!!

Then she turns around I actually squealed – gorgeous back detailing, the criss-cross straps and the yellow embellishments. I am so pleased that someone wore this dress, and I am ecstatic that it was someone like Cate as it really needed someone to work it and she certainly does.

Verdict: I think this is a great tribute and I love this frock. As always Cate brings something different to the red carpet – I love her individuality – she is the sort of actress that you don’t imagine a stylist controls.
