Who: Best Actress winner Cate Blanchett
Where: At the 86th Academy Awards held in Los Angeles, California
Wearing: A nude gold Armani Prive gown with a tulle skirt, and embroidered with dégradé sequins and Swarovski crystals from the autumn/winter 2013 collection, teamed with Chopard opal and diamond earrings
Verdict: Wow, the Blue Jasmine star looked incredible in this textured beauty of a gown by Armani Prive. The designer wasn’t much of a surprise, but I was surprised by the romantic, floated nature of the gown, I was thinking that she would go for something a little more structured and avant garde. I am definitely not complaining, this Princess dress looked amazing on her, and really photographed all the embroidery really well.
The only thing that made this look not shine as bright as Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace or Lupita Nyong’o in Prada was the nude, champagne hue of the gown, which seemed to be all the stars go-to colour. Stars including Idina Menzel in Reem Acra, her Blue Jasmine co-star Sally Hawkins in Valentino and Portia de Rossi in a Naeem Khan, as well as Jessica Biel in Chanel Couture and Kristin Bell in a Roberto Cavalli all wore the shade. It kind of made Cate’s not as special looking back across all the red carpet images.
Saying that I still love this gown, the mixture of the textures with the romantic floaty silhouette really is gorgeous.
I also love. love, love those statement opal and diamond Chopard earrings – it really made her Hollywood glamour look.

Reason number 387 on why I love Jennifer Lawrence – she isn’t afraid to rock her curves on a cover of a magazine. The Oscar-winning actress, and potential contender this year for the best supporting actress gong, looks incredible wearing a 50′s style floral high-waisted Dolce & Gabbana bikini on one of the six special covers for W magazine’s Movie issue.
It isn’t often that you get to compare Jennifer against Oprah Winfrey, Cate Blanchett, who is one of my favourite red carpet stars, as well as Matthew McConaughey, Amy Adams, and Lupita Nyong’o – all chosen for their incredible movie performances over the last year snapped by photography legend Juergen Teller.
Inside the magazine, Jennifer opens up about her big trip-up at last year’s Oscars (reason 254 for loving her):
“I was at the Oscars, waiting to hear
if my name was called, and I kept thinking, Cakewalk, cakewalk, cakewalk. I thought, Why is ‘cakewalk’ stuck in my head? And then, as I started to walk up the stairs and the fabric from my dress tucked under my feet, I realized my stylist had told me, ‘Kick, walk, kick, walk.’ You are supposed to kick the dress out while you walk, and I totally forgot because I was thinking about cake! And that’s why I fell.”
As well as loving Jennifer’s cover – Cate is stunning, I love her red lippy, I have to say that Lupita in that metallic Dior dress has to be my favourite. I just love that W magazine went with an up-and-coming actress who is really standing her own against the more established names. I think Lupita will be the one to watch this award season, not only will she pick up a lot of awards but her red carpet style is going to be amazing.
Which W magazine cover are you loving? Also are you still loving Jennifer Lawrence as much as me?
It is strange that we haven’t even had Christmas yet and spring collections are already gracing covers. For January, US Vogue has gone for the gorgeous Cate Blanchett, one of my favourite red carpet stars, and she looks stunning in a Celine dress.
As well as loving the cover star, it is nice to see Céline on the cover, even though the French fashion house gets critical acclaim its doesn’t often grace covers and this arty, paint-stroke dress looks amazing,
For some, featuring Cate seems like a safe choice as a cover star, but for me her beauty means I will always pick up magazines with her on the front. As well as adoring the cover, shot by Craig McDean, I love the accompanying editorial with Cate wearing incredible looks from Dolce & Gabbana, Armani Prive and Nina Ricci.
Will you be picking up the January issue of US Vogue?

Who: Cate Blanchett
Where: At the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards held at the Star Event Centre in Sydney, Australia
Wearing: A red tapering double-breasted Giorgio Armani Privé gown featuring flared sleeves, embroidered all over with tiny red square lacquer sequins and a black trim from the spring/summer 2009 collection, teamed with black shoes and black drop earrings
Verdict: I have missed Cate Blanchett from the award season red carpet so it was nice to see her at Australia’s answer to the BAFTAS wearing this gorgeous Asian-inspired gown.
This gown is full on drama with the bold shoulders and flared hemline, full on glamour with the red shimming sequins, and full of sexy with the plunging neckline - Cate looks incredible.
We haven’t had a great Armani Privé gown this award season so it was nice to see this beauty and it gives me hope that this look will make stylists call in other pieces for the Oscars. Do you remember when Anne Hathaway wore that gorgeous gold number? I want to see more of that!!!
Do you rate Cate’s red gown?

Who: Cate Blanchett
Where: At the Met Gala 2012 in New York
Wearing: A black feathered Alexander McQueen gown with ostrich hemline from the autumn/winter 2012 collection, teamed with an Alexander McQueen black pom-pom skull clutch andVan Cleef & Arpels jewellery
Verdict: I think Cate Blanchett is the ideal ambassador for Alexander McQueen as she really can pull off such dramatic looks, for some I am sure they were looking for more from Cate, but I love this gorgeous feathered gown.
What I love most about Cate has to be attitude, she always looks relaxed, completely owns a look, and doesn’t need anything extra to make herself shine, her simple hairstyle is perfection with this gown.
