Ever since Olivia Palermo and her long-term model boyfriend Johannes Huebl announced their engagement with the most beautiful Instagram video from a tropical location it was kind of a given that their actual wedding day would just be as perfect.
One of my favourite fashionistas gave a few hints in her Brides cover story that she would be wearing something a little different for her big day, but I don’t think many would have predicted that she would wear shorts, but then again I think only Olivia could get away with wearing shorts on her wedding day.
The gorgeous bride look incredible in a custom Carolina Herrera ensemble – a simple cream cashmere jumper teamed with white shorts and a full tulle skirt overlay that featured a high slit in the front and beautiful floral detailing along the hem.
Olivia shared details of her bridal look on her website, along with the low-down on the actual wedding itself, described as “intimate” and shared with only a handful of the bride and grooms close friends and family surrounded by “ivy and blossoming flowers” in a quiet park in Bedford, New York. It sounds heavenly.
Back to the wedding dress, or should I say wedding ensemble, I really love it and it is perfect for an intimate, elopement-style wedding and I am sure many people will be saying to themselves that it is very Carrie Bradshaw, especially with her something blue being a pair of Manolo Blahniks, which really does complete the look.
I just hope that my wedding in New York in November looks just as perfect. Huge congratulations to Olivia and Johannes it really did look like the most stylist wedding ever.
What do you think of Olivia’s unique wedding look?

Did you like the look of the gowns that Amy Adams, Lucy Lui, Naomi Watts and Allison Williams wore to the Golden Globes? Well, you have until January 24 to buy the beauties over at Moda Operandi – that is if you have a couple of thousand euros to spare!!!
Whether you are after Amy’s gorgeous all-over Chantilly lace Marchesa gown with a frothy fishtail, or want to make a statement like Lucy in a strapless rose printed Jacquard Carolina Herrera there is a gown to make you shine. After something more simple then there is Naomi’s divine burgundy open-back Zac Posen gown, or if you are feeling daring how about Allison’s J.Mendel gown with a plunging neckline?? Decisions, decisions!!!
Would the price make a difference to you? Well the most expensive is Amy’s blush gown at €7,200, well no-one said it was cheap looking incredible, but if you are after a bargain well you have to go for Naomi’s which is the cheapest at €4,563.
Credit card anyone??? Which one if money was no object would you buy?

Who: Lucy Liu
Where: At the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California
Wearing: A blue rose-vine patterned Jacquard strapless Carolina Herrera gown from the pre-fall 2013 collection, teamed with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery and a fishtail braid
Verdict: Los Angeles maybe having a winter chill at the moment but the Elementary actress was in full bloom at this year’s Golden Globes in this gorgeous and dramatic gown from Carolina Herrera. This is the second look from the pre-fall 2013 collection this we’ve seen this week, like with Emmy Rossum’s constellations print, this another very ladylike ‘princess’ dress that was made for the red carpet.
I always seem to like what Lucy wears on the red carpet as she takes risks, which to be honest is easy when you look as good as her, and I absolutely adore this dress. I love everything about this look from the romantic print to the way the dress highlights her tiny waist, to the exquisite Lorraine Schwartz pink-gold, 2.5 million dollar drop earrings with over 30 carats of diamonds, and how she has finished it off with a gorgeous fishtail braid and barely there make-up.
Lucy is gorgeous in this dress and is most certainly in my top five favourites of the night – I simply love it.
Who: Emmy Rossum
Where: At the 18th Critics’ Choice Movie Awards held in Santa Monica, California
Wearing: A navy-blue celestial printed Carolina Herrera gown, featuring an organza overlay, star shaped crystal-embellishments to the nape and at the waist and grosgrain waistband from the pre-fall 2013 collection, teamed with light blue drop earrings
Verdict: This is a breathtaking look from Emmy and as regularly Fashionista Barbie readers will know I do love a ‘Princess’ look and this is it from last night’s Critic’s Choice for me – that celestial printed organza overlay makes this gown heavenly.
If it wasn’t enough that the gown was spectacular I just adore her Old Hollywood wavy locks to the side and those OTT drop earrings – Emmy is simply stunning.
I loved everything about Carolina Herrera’s pre-fall 2013 collection and I am so pleased to see it on the red carpet and I don’t think this will be the last we see from this collection.
Do you love this Princess look as much as I do?
Who: Olivia Wilde
Where: At the 2012 Jameson Empire Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London presenting an award to her ‘hero’ Gary Oldman
Wearing: A sheer silver beaded long sleeve Carolina Herrera gown from the spring/summer 2012 collection, teamed with a black Jimmy Choo clutch
Verdict: I am in two minds for this look – on one hand I am loving this delicate beaded gown it has a shimmering glamour that no-one else brought to last night’s awards red carpet, but on the other hand I just not sure if I am loving it on Olivia.
Everything from the heavy necklace-style embellishment to the dot-print silk chiffon should make this a standout gown, and on the catwalk it did but for some reason Olivia doesn’t shine in it for me.
What do you think – hit or miss from Olivia?
