BFI London Film Festival: Carey Mulligan In Dior

Who: Carey Mulligan

Where: At the ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ screening held during the 57th BFI London Film Festival at Odeon Leicester Square

Wearing: A strapless yellow matte silk and wool crepe Christian Dior dress featuring contoured seams to the bodice and falling just below-the-knee, teamed with black mesh Dior heels

Verdict: I do love seeing vibrant colours on the red carpet and I love this Dior cocktail dress – it is simple-yet-elegant and is styled to perfection with no jewellery, a wispy updo and clashing red lippy.

As much as I love the dress, the make-up and her hair, I just wish she would find a way to look less awkward on the red carpet, she is so beautiful but always looks so nervous.

Are you pleased that Carey went for a vibrant hue?

Cover Loving: Carey Mulligan Is Pretty In Pink For Harper’s Bazaar

If you were a little disappointed with Carey Mulligan’s American Vogue cover, and according to my Twitter you were, well I am sure that the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar will more than make up for it.

Shot by Tom Allen, these covers not only showcase Carey’s beauty, but also a touch of her personality, especially the subscriber cover with her laughing, which I am so pleased to see as her other editorials have been so serious.

As well as adoring the blossom background and her subtly but girlie make-up, I am in love with her gorgeous pink Prada coat the floral embellishments are to-die-for!!!

I have to be honest I am not sure when I last picked up a copy of Harper’s Bazaar, much less when I added one to my growing magazine collection **I’m limited to keeping just the very best**, but I can’t wait to pick up this beauty on May 2 as I’m excited to see the accompanying ethereal fashion shoot featuring Erdem and Bottega Veneta.

Do you like Carey’s latest cover? Will you be buying the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar?

Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball: Carey Mulligan In Victoria Beckham

Carey mulligan victoria beckham Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball: Carey Mulligan In Victoria Beckham %tagWho: Carey Mulligan

Where: At the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball, held at the Rockefeller Center in New York City

Wearing: A black Le Smoking tuxedo trouser suit by Victoria Beckham, featuring slashed cape-style sleeves and deep-V satin lapels from the autumn/winter 2013 collection, teamed with Tiffany jewels from the Blue Book Collection and black pointed Mary-Jane Saint Laurent heels

Verdict: With nearly everyone else at the Tiffany ball opting for flowing floor-length gowns it was refreshing to see that Carey Mulligan opted for something a little different, a bold masculine look in a chic Le Smoking tux.

Not only was this a bold choice, the slash is very revealing adding a sexy touch to the masculine tailored look, but I have to be honest I was a little surprised to see it on Carey. However, I love to be surprised, and I really did love her look, which was finished off perfectly with a pair of delicate Tiffany drop earrings.

There is a big but though, why the tired face, it looks like she isn’t wearing any make-up in a bad way, which really doesn’t make any sense – why get dressed up, add some bling courtesy of Tiffany’s and then forget to refresh your face with a little make-up.

Is it just me? Is her barley-there-could-be-missing make-up throwing off this whole look? Or do you think the nude make-up and minimal updo adds an edge to the masculine Le Smoking tux look?

Editorial Loving: Grace Coddington Styles Carey Mulligan For US Vogue

Vogue carey mulligan 5 Editorial Loving: Grace Coddington Styles Carey Mulligan For US Vogue %tag

There is something about the roaring Twenties that just makes a fashion editorials look even more glamorous, I think it is all those sequins and beads, the decadence of the jewellery and the exquisite headpieces, I absolutely adore The Great Gatsby tribute in the May issue of American Vogue.

Starring Carey Mulligan, this is one of my favourite celebrity editorials I have seen from Vogue in a while, I love that they have kept her in character as Daisy Buchanan, as it just makes me more excited for the film to come out next month.

Styled by Grace Coddington, I am in love with all the flapper fashion from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, Chanel, Nina Ricci, and Oscar de la Renta, as well as the incredible set designs and location. Everything about the shoot, captured by Mario Testino, looks glamorous, expensive, and exquisite, everything you expect from the era and more.

The only thing that I am not too keen on is the cover, not the Oscar de la Renta gown, that is divine – I love the lime green colour, but Carey’s expression – she looks in pain.

What do you think of Vogue’s Great Gatsby editorial?

Trailer Loving: Second Look At The Great Gatsby

In May I gushed about how excited I was to see Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, over the summer I wept about the film being postponed until next year, and now I am all excited and giddy again with the release of the second trailer for the film.

This is without a doubt one of the most anticipated films for 2013. It may not be out until May but I can already see all the amazing red carpet looks that Carey Mulligan and Isla Fisher are going to wear during the promo tour, the high street take on the gorgeous costumes, the soundtrack taking over the charts, and of course women all over the world are sure to fall back in love with Leonardo DiCaprio.

I love the roaring Twenties era and the Art Deco vibe, which is probably why I can’t wait to see this movie, plus I am obsessed by the Prada costumes and the Tiffany jewels that are featured, and no one can deny what a genius Baz Luhrmann is when it comes to making a classic modern.

I don’t know about anyone else but I am most certainly looking forward to dissecting every last moment – roll on May 2013.

Are you excited for The Great Gatsby to hit the big screen?

Met Gala 2012: All About The Prada Beauties

PradaDiane Met Gala 2012: All About The Prada Beauties %tag

When I found out that this year’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibition would feature Prada I was excited to see who Miuccia Prada would dress for the Met Gala and she really didn’t disappoint. In her party, to celebrate the Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations, was the gorgeous Diane Kruger, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Biel, Amber Valetta, Anna Wintour, Carey Mulligan, Eva Mendes, Kate Bosworth, Linda Evangelista, Mia Wasikowska, Grace Coddington, Milla Jovovich, and model Anne V.

It was hard to choose between Diane, Gwyneth, and Carey for my best dressed Prada beauty, but my obsession with Diane meant that she came out on top, closey followed by a very foxy Gwyneth.

Diane was once again flawless in her loose-fitted purple layered crepe silk chiffon Prada gown, which was finished off with a gorgeous ostrich feathered hemline. I loved that she paired her look with a Barbie pink embellished clutch, maybe an ode to Schiaparelli who loved to use shocking pink in her collections.

The best thing about Diane is you never know what she is going to wear as she really can work it all *yes I love her a little too much!!!*.

Just for her paillette-embroidered patch pockets, Gwyneth nearly took top spot in the Prada beauties, as she worked a gorgeous short steel blue halter neck dress, showing off her amazing legs. Finishing off her look were embellished Prada peep-toe heels, hooped earrings, and an exquisite centre-parted bun.

Ever since Gwyneth wore Tom Ford to the Oscars I have been super excited to see what she will wear next and last night she rocked this sexy Prada gown to the max. I am loving her confidence lately. Simply gorgeous.

It’s a tough list when this incredible two-tone gold and silver halter made of shiny paillettes that co-chairwoman Carey Mulligan wore only makes third spot, but this is testament to the exquisite designs from Prada, each one completely different and each one as fabulous as the next.

This is the best I have ever seen Carey, married life obviously agrees with her as she was glowing last night on the red carpet.

Coming in fourth and five, respectively, are Eva Mendes and Mia Wasikowska. Eva’s tangerine orange gown complements her skintone brilliantly, and I love the peplum detailing as well as the embellishments to the bodice, she really is stunning.

Mia gets in my top five ahead of Kate Bosworth in that amazing ostrich feathered mini-dress mainly because I loved the embellished collar and waist detailing of Mia’s Prada dress, as well as the rich raspberry colour.

What do you think of my top five Prada beauties? Should I have included Kate Bosworth, Anna Wintour, Milla Jovovich, Jessica Biel, or Linda Evangelista??? Leave me a comment below.

Palm Springs: Carey Mulligan Gorgeous In Prada

Actress Carey Mulligan arrives at the 22nd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala in Palm Springs, California January 8, 2011. Picture taken January 8, 2011. REUTERS/Alex Gallardo (UNITED STATES – Tags: ENTERTAINMENT)

Who: British actress Carey Mulligan who picked up the Breakthrough Performance Award

Where: At the 2011 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala at the Palm Springs Convention Centre

Wearing: A simple-yet-elegant Prada printed cocktail paired with Cartier jewels *well they are the sponsor of course*

Verdict: I love the silhouette of this cocktail dress, and it seems to be Carey’s go-to-style, why not when she looks this good in it. I must admit though I am hoping for a lot more when it comes to the Golden Globes, Baftas and of course the Oscars – maybe something sexy, revealing and totally far-removed from her comfort zone. I seriously don’t think it will happen though.
