BFI London Film Festival: Carey Mulligan In Dior

BFI-cary-mulligan-1

Who: Carey Mulligan

Where: At the ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ screening held during the 57th BFI London Film Festival at Odeon Leicester Square

Wearing: A strapless yellow matte silk and wool crepe Christian Dior dress featuring contoured seams to the bodice and falling just below-the-knee, teamed with black mesh Dior heels

Verdict: I do love seeing vibrant colours on the red carpet and I love this Dior cocktail dress – it is simple-yet-elegant and is styled to perfection with no jewellery, a wispy updo and clashing red lippy.

As much as I love the dress, the make-up and her hair, I just wish she would find a way to look less awkward on the red carpet, she is so beautiful but always looks so nervous.

Are you pleased that Carey went for a vibrant hue?

Cover Loving: Carey Mulligan Is Pretty In Pink For Harper’s Bazaar

Carey-Mulligan-harpers-bazaar

If you were a little disappointed with Carey Mulligan’s American Vogue cover, and according to my Twitter you were, well I am sure that the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar will more than make up for it.

Shot by Tom Allen, these covers not only showcase Carey’s beauty, but also a touch of her personality, especially the subscriber cover with her laughing, which I am so pleased to see as her other editorials have been so serious.

As well as adoring the blossom background and her subtly but girlie make-up, I am in love with her gorgeous pink Prada coat the floral embellishments are to-die-for!!!

I have to be honest I am not sure when I last picked up a copy of Harper’s Bazaar, much less when I added one to my growing magazine collection **I’m limited to keeping just the very best**, but I can’t wait to pick up this beauty on May 2 as I’m excited to see the accompanying ethereal fashion shoot featuring Erdem and Bottega Veneta.

Do you like Carey’s latest cover? Will you be buying the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar?

Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball: Carey Mulligan In Victoria Beckham

Carey-mulligan-victoria-beckhamWho: Carey Mulligan

Where: At the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball, held at the Rockefeller Center in New York City

Wearing: A black Le Smoking tuxedo trouser suit by Victoria Beckham, featuring slashed cape-style sleeves and deep-V satin lapels from the autumn/winter 2013 collection, teamed with Tiffany jewels from the Blue Book Collection and black pointed Mary-Jane Saint Laurent heels

Verdict: With nearly everyone else at the Tiffany ball opting for flowing floor-length gowns it was refreshing to see that Carey Mulligan opted for something a little different, a bold masculine look in a chic Le Smoking tux.

Not only was this a bold choice, the slash is very revealing adding a sexy touch to the masculine tailored look, but I have to be honest I was a little surprised to see it on Carey. However, I love to be surprised, and I really did love her look, which was finished off perfectly with a pair of delicate Tiffany drop earrings.

There is a big but though, why the tired face, it looks like she isn’t wearing any make-up in a bad way, which really doesn’t make any sense – why get dressed up, add some bling courtesy of Tiffany’s and then forget to refresh your face with a little make-up.

Is it just me? Is her barley-there-could-be-missing make-up throwing off this whole look? Or do you think the nude make-up and minimal updo adds an edge to the masculine Le Smoking tux look?

Editorial Loving: Grace Coddington Styles Carey Mulligan For US Vogue

Vogue-carey-mulligan-5

There is something about the roaring Twenties that just makes a fashion editorials look even more glamorous, I think it is all those sequins and beads, the decadence of the jewellery and the exquisite headpieces, I absolutely adore The Great Gatsby tribute in the May issue of American Vogue.

Starring Carey Mulligan, this is one of my favourite celebrity editorials I have seen from Vogue in a while, I love that they have kept her in character as Daisy Buchanan, as it just makes me more excited for the film to come out next month.

Styled by Grace Coddington, I am in love with all the flapper fashion from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, Chanel, Nina Ricci, and Oscar de la Renta, as well as the incredible set designs and location. Everything about the shoot, captured by Mario Testino, looks glamorous, expensive, and exquisite, everything you expect from the era and more.

The only thing that I am not too keen on is the cover, not the Oscar de la Renta gown, that is divine – I love the lime green colour, but Carey’s expression – she looks in pain.

What do you think of Vogue’s Great Gatsby editorial?
