Cannes 2011: Kirsten Dunst Wears Rodarte

Who: Kirsten Dunst

Where: At the Melancholia premiere during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival

Wearing: A polka dot halterneck Rodarte gown with mermaid hem, teamed with Bulgari jewels. Kirsten is wearing a pair Astrale earrings in white gold adorned with diamonds, a white gold ring and a vintage bracelet in platinum set with diamonds and emeralds

Verdict: I am not always the biggest fan of Kirsten Dunst, but I have to give it to her this is a great Rodarte gown, and it does seem the perfect debut for the brand in Cannes. I know I couldn’t believe it either. I always think mermaid silhouettes are the most elegant on the red carpet, they just add an extra sparkle of glamour, and I love the polka dots on this one.

Cannes 2011: Fan Bing Bing My Best Dressed

Already this Cannes Film Festival Fan Bing Bing has impressed me with her outfits. I loved the beauty of her traditional robe inspired dress for the opening ceremony, and I adored the ombre Atelier Versace gown worn to The Artist premiere. I really didn’t think it could get much better than that, but Fan Bing Bing really has pulled out the best show-stopping of the festival for me.

Above Fan is wearing a gorgeous lilac Elie Saab haute couture gown from the spring 2011 collection to  The Marche Du Film China Night press conference. This dress reminds me of the one that Mila Kunis wore to the Oscars, but she really does pull it off with more elegance and grace.

This Oscar de la Renta gown, that Fan wore to The Tree of Life premiere is something that I wouldn’t have expected her to wear. Don’t get me wrong I love this lime green gown from the spring/summer 2011 collection, its elegant and sophisticated with its square neckline and full gathered skirt, but it just not my favourite of the looks that I have seen her in.

Trust the amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala to bring out my favourite look from Fan Bing Bing. This vibrant strapless pink silk gazar vustier Louis Vuitton gown embroidered with silk bows it so striking. Don’t you think she looks very doll like in this dress? I love it so much.

Which look is your favourite?

Cannes 2011: Cheryl Cole In Roberto Cavalli

Who: Cheryl Cole

Where: At the L’Oreal After Party in Cannes

Wearing: A long-sleeved champagne coloured sequinned Roberto Cavalli with a mermaid hemline, teamed with a red clutch and vamp lippy

Verdict: After seeing Cheryl looking like an extra from Dallas, on her first day as a judge on the American version of the X Factor, I must admit I was a little concerned that we’d lost our Chezza forever. However, step back into Europe and Cheryl seems to be back to normal with her sleek approach to VIP events.

I adore this Roberto Cavalli gown on her, from the nude shade to the volume mermaid hem, Cheryl really does look gorgeous. I like the pairing of red accessories and lippy, it adds a vamp attitude to her look, which totally suits her.

I am hoping that her colour-blocking experiment is behind her and we can see some amazing looks from her in America.

Cannes 2011: Gwen Stefani Sparkles in Stella McCartney

Who: Gwen Stefani

Where: At The Tree Of Life premiere held at the Cannes Film Festival

Wearing: A black sequinned Stella McCartney jumpsuit with a plunging v-neck

Verdict: Seeing Gwen like this I am begging Mattel to do a Barbie series on the No Doubt singer, this look is so 70s glam Barbie with her voluminous curly hair and Barbie pink lippy, and I adore it so much. I know for some this won’t be a great look – but I just love it.

Cannes 2011: Fan Bing Bing Wears Atelier Versace

Who: Chinese actress Fan Bing Bing

Where: At the premiere of The Artist during the 64th Cannes Film Festival

Wearing: A strapless ombre Atelier Versace slightly modified from the spring/summer 2011 catwalk version, with its skirt made of hand brushed chiffon ruffles, teamed with a box clutch and Cartier jewellery

Verdict: I have to be honest I haven’t seen a Fan Bing Bing film, and I didn’t really know who she was until last year’s Cannes festival, but every time she steps out onto the red carpet I am in awe at how beautiful she looks. Each look for her is always different but equally as elegant.

I don’t think it matters what is to come at Cannes this will be my best dressed, I am in love with how absolutely stunning this gown is. I love the ombre detailing from a deep violet to a candy pink, such a striking colour palette and she wears it perfectly.

Cannes 2011: Angelina Jolie Picture Perfect

Who: Angelina Jolie

Where: At The Tree Of Life premiere, which took place during the Cannes Film Festival

Wearing: A strapless chocolate brown Atelier Versace gown with a thigh-high split and a train

Verdict: This is what I have been waiting for, the return of Angelina looking absolutely gorgeous. This dress is sheer perfection, I love that instead of her usual sleek-fitted approach to a red carpet gown she went for a dress with a bit of volume; I like the ruffle draping detailing to the front and the fact that she went for a gown with a train. Normally I am not sure about brown, but this chocolate shade looks stunning against her skin tone.

Pirates: Penelope Cruz in Marchesa, Emilio Pucci, Stella McCartney, Givenchy and Armani

Who: Actress Penelope Cruz

Where: At the Pirates of the Caribbean Premiere in Cannes, France

Wearing: A lavender coloured jewel encrusted illusion Marchesa gown from the autumn/winter 2011 collection, with flared silk tulle skirt and shoulder detailing; paired with a Swarovski clutch and Chopard jewellery

Verdict: Other than the Disney Premiere when Penelope wore that gorgeous black Marchesa, this is my favourite look from her European promo tour so far. I always feel that Marchesa add something extra to their red carpet looks but this is a divine dress that looks like it was designed especially for Penelope. It is hugging her in all the right places, and the colour is just perfection against her skin tone. She really is beautiful.

Where: At the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides photocall at the Palais des Festivals during the 64th Cannes Film Festival

Wearing: A navy form-fitted Stella McCartney dress from the autumn/winter 2011 collection, with a velvet skirt and teamed with navy heels

Verdict: I always love dresses that fall just below-the-knee, and navy blue makes it perfection for me. This is a perfect look for a photocall, and Stella McCartney is one of the best choices to go for, it really does show how amazing Penelope’s body is. Great look and I am so glad that she kept her hair down.

Where: At the première of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in Moscow

Wearing: A knee-length black velvet embroidered Emilio Pucci dress from the autumn/winter 2011 collection, with long sleeves and bow detailing

Verdict: This is one statement dress, normally I wouldn’t like this but Penelope oozes just enough attitude for this dress to shine. I know some will say that this is a boring look for a premiere, but I love the drama of the high neck, large bow and velvet. I like it.

Where: At the UK Premiere of Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides at Vue Westfield

Wearing: A white embroidered Givenchy Couture gown from the autumn/winter 2011 collection, with exposed zip detailing to the front

Verdict: At first glance I wasn’t sure about this look. There is no question that she is looking fabulous post-baby, but I just wasn’t sure if

Where: At the Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Premiere in Munich, Germany

Wearing: A custom fitted red organza Giorgio Armani Privé gown with long-sleeves

Verdict: What a beauty!! I loved Anne Hathaway when she wore a similar Armani gown in sapphire satin, but this red is just perfection and looks amazing on Penelope. Simply gorgeous.
