Editorial Loving: Fun To Be The Princess – Vogue Japan

vogue japan november 2013 2 Editorial Loving: Fun To Be The Princess Vogue Japan %tag

Whereas many magazine seem to be scaling back on their productions and storytelling for their fashion editorials except maybe the big September and March issues, I’m loving that Vogue Japan is keeping the elaborate fashion editorials alive, and the November issue features a gorgeous ‘Fun to be the Princess’ spread.

Swedish photographer Camilla Akrans captures the stunning Nadja Bender in an exquisitely styled shoot by Sissy Vian featuring regal looks by Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Valentino, Armani and Ralph Lauren and I just think it is stunning.

As well as loving the fashion and the setting of a grand old house with elegant high ceilings, intricate wooden flooring and gorgeous furniture, I was totally blown away by the star quality of model Nadja who has a poise and elegance about her that really works for this Princess editorial.

I have to agree – it really does look fun to be a Princess!!!

Editorial Loving: Nicole Kidman For Vogue Germany

Vogue Nicole Kidman 1 Editorial Loving: Nicole Kidman For Vogue Germany %tagI know that everyone has already moved on to the September issues but I have only just picked up the August cover of Vogue Germany, which was an homage to Nicole Kidman. The Australian actress didn’t just get two gorgeous covers, but also three incredible editorials inside that really shows off her model potential and various personalities.

We have the whimsical editorial shot by Camilla Akrans that shows Nicole wearing Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry Prorsum, Louis Vuitton and Valentino in a gorgeous outdoor setting. I just love how Camilla has shot this editorial, the soft lighting and the fuzziness to the images makes it romantic and magical and Nicole looks absolutely gorgeous styled by Nicole Knels and I love the loose curls in her hair.

Then we have the high-fashion editorial shot by Patrick Demarchelier, this is a powerful spread that unleashes Nicole’s inner femme fatale and I love that the majority of the editorial is in black and white as it really suits the dramatic pieces by Rodarte, Yohji Yamamoto, Alexander McQueen, Prada and Haider Ackermann – plus did you spot that incredible studded Chanel glove?

For the final spread, Nicole gets sexy with the help of her pal, designer and stylist L’Wren Scott, who styled her in a check shirt and bra, while she frolicked in a field in a gorgeous editorial shot by Bruce Webber.

I don’t think we see enough of Nicole Kidman in magazines and after seeing these gorgeous but very different editorials I don’t understand why. There has been a transformation of the past few years with Nicole – not just in her editorials but also her red carpet looks and I am loving seeing her be a little more daring with fashion – she is so stunning.

Which editorial do you like the best? I think Camilla Akrans gets my vote as I just love the lighting, the setting and how beautiful Nicole looks.

Cover Loving: Victoria Beckham Stuns Me Again

Harper’s Bazaar know how to get me to buy their May issue, add a gorgeous looking Victoria Beckham and rework the masthead typeface into a whimsical script, which is perfect for this floral cover. Shot by Camilla Akrans, Victoria Beckham is stunning in her Prada spring/summer 2012 one-piece, but what stands out the most for me is how flawless her face looks – her cat eyes are divine.

I loved her recent i-D cover, which I thought was her best ever cover, but I think this Harper’s Bazaar might be top of the list now – what do you think?

I am excited to see the accompanying editorial spread as well as read the interview with ‘Queen Victoria’. Will you be buying the May issue?
