Wearing: A black and ecru couture J. Mendel draped front gown with embroidered cap sleeves, and open back detailing, inspired by a shorter pre-fall 2012 look, teamed with platinum earrings with princess cut diamonds from Bulgari’s High Jewellery Collection and a white gold bracelet with diamonds

Verdict: I love al the crystal embellishment detailing on the shoulders and around the waist – it kind of has a warrior-esq vibe to it – but as Claire rightly put it “is all about the back” I totally agree!!!

Wearing: A strapless blue tie-dye effect Monique Lhuillier gown from the spring/summer 2012 collection, teamed with Bulgari earrings, ring and white gold bracelets, Jimmy Choo heels and a super high ponytail

Verdict: A bold choice, I have to admit this was one of the gowns I had mentally picked out from the collections and I wondered if anyone would dare to wear it. I am so pleased that it was one of my favourite actress – I was/am a super Buffy fan. I am sure that this dress will make a lot of best dressed lists including mine, but will also split opinion, I have already seen people tweeting that it is a “bizarre choice” – I couldn’t disagree more, I love it!!!

I am also pleased that two dresses in and the blue is going strong – but what I love more than the colour and the tie-dye effect has to be the drama of the gown – made for an award ceremony!!!

Wearing: A red silk crepe Lanvin gown from the autumn/winter 2011 collection, teamed with Bulgari drop earrings and ring

Verdict: Granted not the most flattered of dresses from certain angles, but I like it mainly because of the colour, red is so hot this season and I do think she wears the volume of the cut well. I like that deep-v at the back adds a sexy touch, also check out that bling on her finger – Bulgari jewels at there very best.

Wearing: A polka dot halterneck Rodarte gown with mermaid hem, teamed with Bulgari jewels. Kirsten is wearing a pair Astrale earrings in white gold adorned with diamonds, a white gold ring and a vintage bracelet in platinum set with diamonds and emeralds

Verdict: I am not always the biggest fan of Kirsten Dunst, but I have to give it to her this is a great Rodarte gown, and it does seem the perfect debut for the brand in Cannes. I know I couldn’t believe it either. I always think mermaid silhouettes are the most elegant on the red carpet, they just add an extra sparkle of glamour, and I love the polka dots on this one.

Wearing: A strapless cobalt silk chiffon Marchesa gown, with draped bodice and satin belt, finished off with a Judith Leiber box clutch and a jewelled Bulgari necklace

Verdict: Seriously how long has Olivia has this bob? It’s cute – I think I like it, looks great paired with this amazing strapless gown. I am kind of obsessed with cobalt blue, I love how elegant it looks on the red carpet, and the silk chiffon teamed with the satin belt is a great contrast. I wish I could see a close up of this gorgeous necklace from Bulgari, I do however think she could have gotten away with a little more bling, maybe a bracelet and a ring. I know most of the time I say less is more, I just feel this dress deserved more glamour.

Verdict: Love Malin, love her in red, and adore the simple silhouette of this gown. Such a great dress, and perfect for an after party. I love that Malin is so fearless with her style. J’adore her from head-to-toe!!

Wearing: A shocking pink Alber Elbaz custom Lanvin asymmetrical silk gown with draped shoulder detailing and gold embellished neckline, and to finish her look Julianne wore nude Lanvin platform heels and Bulgari jewels

Verdict: I love the colour, I love that she went for a bold red carpet look, hair and make-up is flawless, and the gold neckline is exquisite. However, I get that you have to sit down in the car over but I think this dress needed to be steamed more before she wore it as those creases are distracting me from the gown itself. I want to like, but I don’t think I do.
