LFW SS13: Louise Gray Is A Barbie Girl!!!

AW12LouiseGray LFW SS13: Louise Gray Is A Barbie Girl!!! %tag

So my favourite doll Barbie loves coming to London Fashion Week, last season I loved her modelling for Sister by Sibling, and the season before she made Ken a little more stylish by working with Casette Playa, but this season is the best yet as she will be sponsoring the amazing Louise Gray’s catwalk show.

I actually squealed a little when I heard, Louise Gray is the perfect Barbie girl, not only has she openly admitted to loving Barbie as a child, she is a fellow blonde, she loves sequins and pink and her quirky take on girlie is just what Barbie needs for her latest fashion makeover.

“My clothes are always about colour and fun – making a bold statement through the way you dress.  I wanted to see Barbie® in some separates and layer up her look, giving her a different way to be girly and fun, than how people are used to seeing her.”  Louise Gray

I am super excited to see Louise Gray’s spring/summer 2013 collection on Monday, as not only will it be a bold spectacle, I always love attending her shows, but three of the looks have been inspired by Barbie, and they aren’t going to be just for show, these Barbie looks will be sold as part of her collection.

The good news keeps coming though as I am most excited about the fact that Louise Gray will also be dressing a special one-off Barbie doll in one of the new season looks she has created for her – OMG scream!!!

Granted I wish it said that it was going to be sold, a Louise Gray Barbie would have made a great addition to my collection. I was trying to guess what a Louise Gray Barbie will look like, I have to be honest I am kind of hoping that Barbie gets a little rag doll makeover similar to Louise Gray’s spring/summer 2011 collection, or a sequins overload like her Topshop collaboration, I could keep going on but I am sure pink will play a part!!!

I was excited about London Fashion Week before, but now I seriously can’t wait for Friday when the shows begin and come Monday I will be hyper waiting for Louise Gray and I promise that I will tweet a piccie of the Barbie doll as soon as I track her down!!!

Shopping: Barbie Loving At ASOS

ASOSBarbie1 Shopping: Barbie Loving At ASOS %tag

I shamelessly have a lot of Barbie adorned clothing and jewellery, maybe a little too much for someone my age, but I can’t help it I am obsessed. Whether it is a vintage Barbie tee, a Barbie signature necklace, or a kiddy Barbie watch I have it all in my wardrobe. I loved the t-shirt line that Miss Selfridge did, the Barbie x Uniqlo line was cute, and now I totally want to add these insane Barbie printed pieces from the ASOS Collection, the retailer’s trend led and directional line.

Granted I totally know I can’t pull this look off, I wish, but how amazing are these printed joggers with a matching sweatshirt? I am loving the retro eighties vibe, with the crew neckline sweatshirt and the contrast cuffs, and the slouchy style to the joggers and all in a knit fabric – kind of reminds me of the plain grey Fruit of the Loom one I was subjected to as a child. Add the faded collage print featuring Barbie dolls, kittens, glitter stars, butterflies, make-up, heels, an old-school camera, and even a pineapple and it was love at first sight!!!

It’s the insane print that completely sells it to me and I am thinking that this sweatshirt with 1986 popstar Barbie on the front is going to be my new comfort blanket on a cold night in front of the TV!!! The printed joggers do look comfortable though with their high-rise waist – but I think it takes a braver person than me to pull these beauties off.

The Barbie ASOS Sweatshirt is £30, and the matching Barbie ASOS Joggers is £35. Will you be snapping them up?

More of a Micky Mouse fan? Well, ASOS has also done a disney printed version in the same style – check out the joggers here.

Doll Loving: Barbie Gets A Tim Gunn Makeover

BarbieTimGunn1 Doll Loving: Barbie Gets A Tim Gunn Makeover %tagThe man with the smoothest voice in fashion, Tim Gunn has given a makeover to my favourite doll, Barbie for a new limited-edition line of dolls and accessory packs coming this August.

Best known as the Project Runway mentor, one of my favourite fashion shows, Tim has joined forces with Mattel to create Barbie a new line of wardrobe-essential clothes. The collection features two new dolls, which will be around the $30 mark, as well as two clothing and accessory packs for $25 each.

Covering all the essential wardrobe needs for a doll, the line features separates perfect for swapping between casual, office and evening looks, as well as option for rain. Basically, Tim has given Barbie her capsule wardrobe – some skinny jeans, a blazer, a pencil skirt, a classic white shirt, a patent leather trench, a smart black top, a flirty patterned skirt, as well as must-have accessories such as statement jewels, sunglasses,  buckled booties, strappy heels, as well as classic handbags from metallic to fiery red and even a black clutch for the evening. I am also loving that the accessory packs include tiny magazines, a coffee cup and even Barbie’s smartphone!!!

The new Barbie’s will be available from Barbiecollector.com and Target from August 1, so American followers snap them up, British dolls hit eBay and all your American contacts as I think these beauties deserve to come across the pond!!!

As Tim would say – Make It Work!

Sir Billi: Barbie Goes Couture With Corrie Nielsen

BarbieCorrieNielsen Sir Billi: Barbie Goes Couture With Corrie Nielsen %tag

I have actually kept a secret, who knew that was possible certainly not me, but a few months ago I found out that one of my favourite designers Corrie Nielsen was commissioned by Sir Sean Connery’s new flick, Sir Billi to design a dress for Barbie and finally the first images have been released.

I knew that it was going to be special, the mix of Corrie’s couture designs, the gorgeous Sir Billi tartan that was specially designed for the film, and then of course my favourite doll, but come on how gorgeous does Barbie look!!!

Granted they aren’t the best of images, I know that my fellow Barbie lovers will be wanting a full length shots *I promise if I get some I will add them* but I do have the gorgeous sketches that Corrie drew when designing the look.

Inspired by her autumn/winter 2012 Vestiarium Scoticum collection, Corrie has dressed Barbie in an adorable miniature kilt and long-sleeved corset with attached tulle drape made from the specially made Sir Billi tartan.

Talking about the design process Corrie said:

“Designing a dress for someone as iconic, and as small as Barbie is a huge honour and a big challenge. My aesthetic is complex, structural and voluminous. I really had to scale back and make the kilt and corset quite simple so it could be made easily and in multiples.

“I’m really pleased with the result. It echoes my AW12 Vestiarium Scoticum London Fashion Week collection, but in the specially made Sir Billi tartan. A big thanks to Tessa Hartmann and Sir Sean Connery for having me involved in such a fun project!”

This is Barbie perfection for me, I love the red flash in the tartan combined with the forest green, which is stunning against her fiery red hair, add in the couture lines of Corrie’s design and this is a striking doll that I would love to add to my collection. I have to quickly add this Barbie is just to promote the film, I haven’t heard that the Corrie Nielsen Sir Billi Barbie is going into production, but if it does I will be at the top of the waiting list!!!

So what do you think – would you buy this divine Corrie Nielsen Barbie?

jubilee Shopping: All About The Jubilee %tag

I love a good celebration, whether it is my birthday **hint, hint it’s this weekend**, a wedding, or an anniversary, so The Queen’s DIamond Jubilee is right up my street. Not only am I becoming a little bit of a royalist but I am loving that so many fashion brands have got behind the Union Jack, which if I do say so myself is by far the prettiest flag!!!

There are so many cool Jubilee-related items out there and I am loving places like Selfridges and Liberty’s that have put together dedicated Jubilee pop-ups and gorgeous window displays. It was hard narrowing down my choices for this special Jubilee shopping edit, but here are my 15 must-have/wishlist purchases:

1. Tatty Devine Crown Tiara, £66 exclusive to Selfridges – this is the perfect finishing touch to any Jubilee outfit.

2. Thomas Sabo Crown Charm, £59 – I am a Thomas Sabo addict, I love a good charm and this beauty complete with a real diamond would be the perfect addition to any bracelet.

3. House of Holland Tea Towel, £25 from Browns – leave it to Henry Holland to bring cheeky to the Jubilee – I love this slogan tea towel.

4. Ice-Watch Union Jack Watch£75 - put together my new fav watch brand and a patriotic face and I am there!!!

5. Nails Inc Jubilee Crystal Colour, £15 – inspired by the Union Jack this is a fun nail varnish featuring red, blue and silver glitter, it also comes with a crystal cap and a patriotic British themed gift box.

6. Aspinal of London Jubilee Clutch, £595 – OK granted very pricey but very pretty, this clutch is limited to just 50 and each one is numbered. I love the studded Union Jack and the iconic queen’s head silhouetted in vibrant colours.

7. Topshop Corgi Shopper, £10 – well I couldn’t miss out including The Queen’s favourite dog now could I – plus if you are a little fed up of the red, white and blue colour-scheme this could be perfect for you.

8. Stella & Dot Elizabeth Bracelet, £26 – this bracelet is not only cute but 20% of the proceeds will go directly to The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.

9. Simeon Farrar Great Britain Kitten T-shirt, £45 – I am a big fan of Simeon Farrar and this is the cutest Jubilee-inspired piece that I’ve seen a cool kitten with punk rock on his paws – seriously, what’s not to love!!!

10. Filofax Jack Vintage Personal Organiser, from £17 – want something patriotic and practical? Well this Filofax is perfect, comes in two sizes pocket or personal – I love the matt finish.

11. Pretty Ballerinas Commemorative Crown Slipper, £189 – love these suede slippers that pay tribute to The Queen with an elegant crown motif on the toes.

12. Maggie Angus Silver Queen’s Jubilee Crown Necklace, £20 – I have to admit I didn’t realise how pretty crown’s were until looking at all the Jubilee pieces, this quirky silver-mirrored acrylic necklace is fun. It also comes in gold but I think I prefer the silver.

13. Ted Baker Lowbow Purse Union Jack, £79.20 at John Lewis – bows, Union Jacks and a dachshund I am sold!!! How sweet is this leather purse?

14. Alexander McQueen Silk Chiffon Shell Patchwork ‘God Save McQueen’ Scarf, £445 – want to rebel a little against the monarchy? Well not work this Union Jack-printed McQueen scarf.

15. Barbie Collector Royal Wedding William and Catherine Doll Set, £66.19 – I am sad that The Queen doesn’t have her own Barbie, I would have loved to add that to my collection, but Mattel did do one to celebrate Will & Kate’s wedding. I felt at £99 it was a little pricey but not you save over £30 I think I might need to buy it.

Are you as excited as me for the Jubilee?

Style Challenge: Filofax and Fashionista Barbie

FilofaxStyle1 Style Challenge: Filofax and Fashionista Barbie %tag

A couple of weeks ago Filofax asked me how would I style one of their funky colourful organisers for a cool project they were doing with other fashion bloggers, and I have to admit I like a good challenge so I thought I would give it ago.

I had the choice of blue, pink, green or yellow, and I have to admit just the choosing which Filofax was hard but I decided instead of going for my go-to pink I would go full on summery with the gorgeous Apex Personal Organiser in yellow, I just thought I could have more fun with a bright colour.

So as my organiser has a textured finished with the crosshatched cover and a smooth, matt interior, I tried to represent that in my outfit by working this gorgeous dress from New Look with its pleated skirt, and silky finish to the bodice, and because my organiser has a contrasting wrap-around elastic closure I added a tan belt to match my wedges, I thought yellow would have been a tad too much. Finishing off my look is my signature Barbie necklace that I adore and a sparkly Swarovski bracelet.

So what do you think – do you like the red and yellow combination? I thought it would make a change from going pink!!!

FilofaxStyle10 Style Challenge: Filofax and Fashionista Barbie %tag

As with all style challenges there is a vote element, which makes me feel a little like I am back in high school and hoping that I am the popular, but if you do ‘like‘ my outfit then head on over to Filofax’s Facebook page and hit ‘like‘ on my picture. The blogger who gets the most ‘likes‘ will receive five Filofax organisers to give away to their readers – so if you fancy a funky diary then get liking.

I also want to say a big good luck to my fellow style challenge bloggers who all look amazing with their Filofax’s. I have already voted for Ella from Coco’s Tea Party who styled hers with a fab DVF bag, Reem of Five Five Fabulous who looks smoking hot in her sporty look, as well as one of my favourite style bloggers Frassy who just looks uber-glamorous in a pink and blue outfit. I am definitely up against tough competition!!!
