BAFTA Awards: Anne Hathaway In Burberry

BAFTA-anne-burberry

Who: Anne Hathaway

Where: At the 2013 EE British Academy Film Awards held at the Royal Opera House in London

Wearing: A black column Burberry gown, featuring short sleeves and a studded bodice, teamed with gold bangles, and a book-inspired clutch, showing off a vintage cover of Victor Hugo’s novel, Les Miserables

Verdict: With a rainy red carpet at last night’s BAFTAs a lot of the actresses covered up with huge coats, I am talking about you Jennifer Lawrence, while Anne Hathaway wore a sensible, slightly warmer option with this sporty, simple Burberry gown.

Even though this was one of my favourite looks of the night, I loved the understated shape and the bodice detailing really did shimmer on camera, it did leave me a little torn as I don’t think it was glamorous enough for the BAFTAs, a premiere yes, the British answer to the Oscars not so much.

But what did wow me about this look had to be her incredible book clutch, a tribute to the movie that has gained her a lot of recognition this award season. It was such a great touch to a simple outfit.

Her make-up and hair was also another highlight, which to be honest has been immaculate throughout the award season, but last night I loved her slightly grundy pixie, kohl-heavy eyes, and that pop of pink on her lips – it really did make her look incredible.

BAFTA Awards: Marion Cotillard Looked Radiant In Dior Couture

BAFTA-marion-dior

Who: Marion Cotillard

Where: At the 2013 EE British Academy Film Awards held at the Royal Opera House in London

Wearing: A strapless canary yellow Dior Couture gown, featuring a voluminous draped detailing from the waist and a sheer panel to the side from the pre-fall 2013 collection, teamed with a Chopard diamond necklace and ring

Verdict: I have been wondering whether someone would wear this Dior Couture gown, I should have known that only Marion Cotillard could pull off this dramatic look, and I am so pleased that she did as it really brightened up the red carpet last night. Not just because of the colour, which was radiant, but because someone took a risk and it totally paid off.

I think this dress could have worked just with the billowing drape below the waist and didn’t necessarily need the sheer panel to the side, I think anyone other than Marion might have left that on the catwalk, but it does make you look twice at the gown.

Finishing up her look, Marion went for full on bling with her diamond necklace courtesy of Chopard, which I love, retro waves and an Old-Hollywood red lip – she looked breathtaking.

Do you rate Marion’s fashion-forward red carpet look?

BAFTAs: Jennifer Lawrence in Stella McCartney

Owly Images
Who: Jennifer Lawrence

Where: At the British Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award ceremony at the Royal Opera House in London

Wearing: A strapless navy Stella McCartney gown with a black embroidered corset

Verdict: When I saw this on TV I thought it worn a little low, don’t get me wrong it is a gorgeous dress and looks stunning on her, but I am surprised that she wasn’t hitching it up all night. The black detailing on the corset is exquisite, but for me it is all about the navy skirt, I am a sucker for navy.
