Cover Loving: Diane Kruger Rocks Azzedine Alaïa

I am going to apologise in advance for my gushing, but I just can’t help it when I see Diane Kruger looking so incredibly gorgeous!!!

What makes a great magazine cover for me comes down to a number of things – first the styling, are the clothes sold to me, secondly how much does the cover stands out in the crowd, and finally do I want to be that cover star – granted there are other factors but I have to give it to Marie Claire France this November cover ticks all those points and more.

What surprises me the most is that normally I am not too keen on animal print but this Azzedine Alaïa leopard print trench coat is divine and seeing it on Diane is really making me want/need it, or more realistically something similar in my life!!!

Shot by Marcel Hartmann, this is one gorgeous cover and editorial spread, everything from the striking trench coat to her pose and messy hair draws me in, and I love the ‘Lady Diane’ headline in the accompanying editorial. I have to be honest as soon as I saw it I instantly sent a message to my boyfriends parents to pick it up as they live in France – I can’t wait to see it in print.

What do you think of Diane’s cover? Do you like how the French magazine has styled her and are you also on the look out for a similar, more reasonably priced trench coat?

Omega House Party: Nicole Kidman In Azzedine Alaia

Who: Nicole Kidman

Where: At the launch party of the opening of Omega House in London, as part of the brand’s celebrations for being the Official Timekeepers of the London 2012 Olympics, the venue will be open until August 12

Wearing: As an Omega brand ambassador, Nicole wore one of her ‘Ladymatic’ Omega timepieces, teamed with a navy patterned fit-and-flare Azzedine Alaia dress, chandlier earrings, and finishing off her look were Manolo Blahnik laser-cut lace up heels

Verdict: There is always something gracefully and glamourous about Nicole Kidman that I love to see, and for the Omega launch the actress really showcased her beauty and her watch with this elegant look.

First off, I love, love, love this Azzedine Alaia patterned dress, not only is the silhouette exquisite, I love the colour – navy is a great alternative to black and it works perfectly against her porcelain skin – but most of all I just adore the feminine look of the dress.

I have to be honest I am not sure about the laser cut, lace up Manolo Blahnik’s, I get that she wanted to give her feminine style an edgy finish, but I think I would have preferred strappy silver heels. But what I do love about her accessories other than that gorgeous gold watch has to be those striking statement chandelier earrings, they kind of add a touch of old-Hollywood glamour to the look.

What do you think of Nicole’s look – do you love it from head-to-toe or would you like to have seen her wear different shoes?

Introducing: Virgine Magazine – Issue One

I love finding new magazine for my ever-growing collection, and I think Virgine will sit perfectly on my shelf! Created by New York-based fashion photographer Ryan Yoon, this is a brand new fashion, art and music platform with a heart, as every issue’s first page will feature a charity-orientated advert.

I love the concept of this new magazine, from its charity tweet section to highlight the said charity of that issue, to the use of up-and-coming artists, and its aim to dilute the meaning of the common saying, ‘it’s all about who you know in the fashion industry’. Tall order but hey I like that they are going to give it a go!

“Imagine an article written by a fashion model who wants to become an editor or an interview written by the actual photographer who shot the subject. This is the kind of content we are looking for: content that brings a different perspective to our audience.” Ryan Yoon.

The first issue is amazing, with its debut theme being ‘virgin,’ as an adjective for ‘pure’ and ‘new’; and for a limited period *until June 16* you can download a digital copy, and trust me it is worth it. You can also buy it online for $14.99 for America, and $24.99 for international customers – and I do think that a hard-copy is needed to make these editorials come alive.

From the amazing cover shot of Heather Marks wearing a Azzedine Alaia dress and belt, shot by Editor-in-Chief Ryan Yoon, to this creative ‘All You Can Get’ fashion editorial, again photographed by Yoon and styled by Hissa Igarashi.

This editorial spread is one of the best I have seen in a long time, I love how it combines fashion and art photography, featuring coke cans, teddy bears, M&Ms, dogs and iPads. My favourite shot has to be the Tide detergent packets.

Baume and Mercier Gala: Gwyneth Paltrow Cute In Pink

Who: Baume & Mercier latest ambassador Gwyneth Paltrow

Where: At the Baume & Mercier gala in Geneva, Switzerland

Wearing: A super cute twenties-inspired ribbed pink ruffle Azzedine Alaia dress, teamed with hot pink Pierre Hardy peep-toes, oh and of course a Baume & Mercier watch

Verdict: OMG this dress is so cute, and it really surprised me to see it on Gwyneth, who I so missed at the Golden Globes at the weekend. This dress is so fun with its square neckline dress and skater skirt, I totally want it *or super good copy*. But come on the shoes are divine – hot pink heels are my favourites.
