Who: Nicole Kidman
Where: At the Opening Ceremony of the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival in France and the premiere of Olivier Dahan’s ‘Grace of Monaco’
Wearing: A strapless blue embroidered Giorgio Armani Privé lace bustier gown featuring crystal and pearl detailing adapted from the spring/summer 2014 collection, teamed with Harry Winston diamond bracelet and earrings
Verdict: Wow, Nicole Kidman really knows how to work the Cannes red carpet, last year she really shined as a jury member wearing creations by Dior, L’Wren Scott, Chanel, and Valentino, and with her film opening the 2014 festival she really did look like a star in this gorgeous, exquisely embellished Armani Privé gown.
Cannes is all about the OTT, bigger the better generally works here, and this gown is divine – the detailing is so intricate that it must have taken hours to make, and more than that it looks heavy and Nicole wears it with ease and pose.
Finishing off her look with diamonds from Harry Winston is always a great choice – that bracelet is beautiful but for me it is all about those diamond cluster earrings. I am so glad that she didn’t wear a necklace that would have been over-kill and would have distracted from the gorgeous sweetheart neckline and embellishments.

Who: Best Actress winner Cate Blanchett
Where: At the 86th Academy Awards held in Los Angeles, California
Wearing: A nude gold Armani Prive gown with a tulle skirt, and embroidered with dégradé sequins and Swarovski crystals from the autumn/winter 2013 collection, teamed with Chopard opal and diamond earrings
Verdict: Wow, the Blue Jasmine star looked incredible in this textured beauty of a gown by Armani Prive. The designer wasn’t much of a surprise, but I was surprised by the romantic, floated nature of the gown, I was thinking that she would go for something a little more structured and avant garde. I am definitely not complaining, this Princess dress looked amazing on her, and really photographed all the embroidery really well.
The only thing that made this look not shine as bright as Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace or Lupita Nyong’o in Prada was the nude, champagne hue of the gown, which seemed to be all the stars go-to colour. Stars including Idina Menzel in Reem Acra, her Blue Jasmine co-star Sally Hawkins in Valentino and Portia de Rossi in a Naeem Khan, as well as Jessica Biel in Chanel Couture and Kristin Bell in a Roberto Cavalli all wore the shade. It kind of made Cate’s not as special looking back across all the red carpet images.
Saying that I still love this gown, the mixture of the textures with the romantic floaty silhouette really is gorgeous.
I also love. love, love those statement opal and diamond Chopard earrings – it really made her Hollywood glamour look.
Are you a fan of Cate Blanchett’s Armani Prive gown?
Singer Miley Cyrus has taken out her grill and put her twerking on hold to look all glamorous in the September issue of Harper's Bazaar US wearing the most gorgeous haute couture looks from the autumn/winter collections.
Styled by Lessie Lessin and shot by Terry Richardson, the Can't Stop singer looks elegant wearing looks by Armani Prive, Chanel, Dior, Valentino, Giambattista Valli, and Atelier Versace.
I love all the pieces, the styling is amazing, but my favourites has to be that exquisite ruffled Armani Prive gown draped out in front of the car, it is a gown waiting for a glitzy award show red carpet, and the gorgeous red Giambattista Valli gown captured in front of the sunset.
Every since she cut her hair she has been on a fashion transformation and this editorial shows that she is all grown up and it suits her. It is a shame really that they didn't give her the cover.

Who: Jessica Chastain
Where: At the 85th Annual Academy awards held in Los Angeles
Wearing: A strapless copper-tone custom Giorgio Armani silk satin gown covered in sequins, teamed with vintage Harry Winston diamond earrings and gold bracelet from the 1960s
Verdict: This is Old Hollywood movie star wow that the Oscars is all about. I love everything from the sweetheart neckline to the colour, which shouldn’t but does work against her red locks and pale skin, to the incredible exquisite sequin detailing and the gorgeous silhouette.
One of the first to hit the red carpet, Jessica really did make an impression with this gown that made everyone up their game!!!
As well as loving her gown, her jewellery was also perfection, in her interview on the red carpet she said that the bracelet was from the 1960s and it really did accessory the gown well. I also thought her side swept curls and her bold lippy just oozed glamour – great job Jessica!!!
Who: Cate Blanchett
Where: At the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards held at the Star Event Centre in Sydney, Australia
Wearing: A red tapering double-breasted Giorgio Armani Privé gown featuring flared sleeves, embroidered all over with tiny red square lacquer sequins and a black trim from the spring/summer 2009 collection, teamed with black shoes and black drop earrings
Verdict: I have missed Cate Blanchett from the award season red carpet so it was nice to see her at Australia’s answer to the BAFTAS wearing this gorgeous Asian-inspired gown.
This gown is full on drama with the bold shoulders and flared hemline, full on glamour with the red shimming sequins, and full of sexy with the plunging neckline – Cate looks incredible.
We haven’t had a great Armani Privé gown this award season so it was nice to see this beauty and it gives me hope that this look will make stylists call in other pieces for the Oscars. Do you remember when Anne Hathaway wore that gorgeous gold number? I want to see more of that!!!
Do you rate Cate’s red gown?
