Cover Loving: Lady Gaga For Vogue US September Issue

VogueGaga Cover Loving: Lady Gaga For Vogue US September Issue %tag

It seems every time I do a September issue post another one gets released and of course it had to be Vogue US’ special anniversary issue starring a very statuesque Lady Gaga. This is Gaga’s second American Vogue cover, do you remember her pink wig for the March 2011 issue, well for September it seems that Gaga has gone blonde with a wig that kind of reminded me of muff handwarmer – sorry but it does.

Shot by Mert & Marcus and styled by Grace Coddington I am excited to see the accompanying editorial. The cover itself is going to take a little getting used to – I love the incredible Marc Jacobs gown – the silhouette and colour is insane, and I also love that they haven’t gone too crazy with the text. I just think her hair is going to make this cover a little bit like Marmite - you will either love or hate it.

On Vogue.com they have a preview of Gaga’s interview and her accompanying editorial, of course it features a naked Gaga, did you see her fragrance advert she does love being naked, and very similar to Gwen Stefani there is an oversized pink hat involved, this time designed by Steven Jones.

The magazine will hit newsstands on August 14 and I for one will be rushing to snap up this issue, not only does this cover deserve to be seen in print, the September Vogue issue is its biggest ever – a staggering 916 pages – serious fashion overload!!!

What do you think of Lagy Gaga’s September issue – do you love or hate it?

September Issue: The Infamous Unpublished Pic – Thanks Coco

coco rocha 500x334 September Issue: The Infamous Unpublished Pic Thanks Coco %tag

This weekend I re-watched the amazing documentary The September Issue by R J Cutler, starring the stylish team of American Vogue. It got me thinking of all the shots that are taken out of the 2007 September issue, especially from the Grace Coddington shoot, captured by Steven Meisel, and starring Coco Rocha.

This spread was my favourite section of the whole magazine, and it was a shame that some pages had to be left out *Anna wasn’t too keen on it*, but thanks to Coco here is the infamous unpublished picture – gorgeous isn’t it.

I wonder if magazines like Vogue, ELLE and Glamour would ever publish some of the unused material as part of an archive section of their websites? As I love the shot above and I bet there are many more beauties just gathering dust as a jpeg on publisher’s servers.

Met Gala: Fashion Event Of The Year

I chose the most inappropriate time to get ill last week with the biggest event in the fashion calendar took place – the 2010 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala, dubbed the ‘Oscars of Fashion’. The guest list was amazing as always, there was Sienna Miller’s first outing with Jude Law since they reunited, Anna Wintour dancing with Diddy, it was like a who’s who of the fashion world from Hollywood stars to models. There were amazing frocks, some fashion disasters and then there was my style icon Diane Kruger looking amazing as always. This year’s event, American Woman: Fashioning A National Identity, was sponsored by Gap and they teamed up with emerging designers Alexander Wang, Sophie Theallet and Rodarte – and got them to dress some of the hottest celebs including Jessica Alba, Kirsten Dunst and Zoe Kravitz.

Fairytale dress goes to Anne Hathaway in Valentino (above). DianeK MetBBall 050310 006 500x810 Met Gala: Fashion Event Of The Year %tag

Style Icon goes to Diane Kruger who looked slick in a white long-sleeve body-hugging Calvin Klein Collection frock. y MetropolitanMuseumofArtCostumeInstitutegala 01 122 6lo 500x824 Met Gala: Fashion Event Of The Year %tag

Best Of The Young Hollywood Starlets has to be Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively in an amazing strapless Marchesa a/w10 frock with peacock draped chiffon teamed with Christian Louboutin heels. The Brits were out in force, Carey Mulligan went for an understated (very boring – not glamourous enough for me) Miu Miu frock, Sienna looking all loved up chose a Pucci and then there was Alexa Chung who decided to play the cool card as always in a tux by Philip Lim.

But for me Best Brit had to be Emma Watson looking gorgeous in a custom-made one-shoulder white Burberry frock (as the face of the brand she kind of should look amazing!).

Shimmering Goddess has to be Nicole Richie in this amazing silver Marc Jacobs, this frock stands out for all the right reasons and I love how she has teamed it with a black sash around the waist and an oversized black clutch – and her hair is fierce – love!! chloescelebutopia2 500x782 Met Gala: Fashion Event Of The Year %tag

There were lots of other delights Chloe Sevigny in a teal Proenza Schouler, Rachel Weisz in a beautiful ruffled pink Oscar de la Renta, Eva Mendes wore a Dolce & Gabbana flowery number, Jennifer Lopez went for the classic princess look in a couture gown by Zuhair Murad and Emma Roberts cute in a custom black organza Marni with a stone-embellished belt.

There were some frocks that I wasn’t keen on and the one in particular has to be singer’s Katy Perry in a glowing CuteCircuit gown which had over 3000 LEDs with silk chiffon creating a rainbow of colours. I am sure she did get some best dressed awards for this innovative dress but for me it just seems a little tacky.
