I am a huge Claire Danes and Homeland fan so I was excited when I heard that the actress would be the star of US Vogue’s August issue, however, the cover is just a little blah, which disappointed me a little until I saw the amazing editorial shot by Annie Leibovitz accompanying it. The espionage-themed photo shoot, captured on Homeland’s set, shows Claire Danes as her bipolar CIA agent character Carrie in a high-fashion editorial spread alongside her hottie co-star Damian Lewis and I love it. I love the concept, the staging of recreating prominent scenes and scenarios from the show, and most of all the contrast of
Gwen Stefani is certainly having a moment when it comes to magazine covers. This year I have already gushed about her divine Harper’s Bazaar September issue, her abs on the Marie Claire cover, and her digital print mash-up on the October issue of ELLE UK wearing Peter Pilotto and McQ by Alexander McQueen. Well it seems American Vogue wanted to end the year on a high with the release of the January issue with Gwen wearing an ensemble from Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane’s spring/summer 2013 collection. Captured by Annie Leibovitz this is a gorgeous cover. I love the pose on the piano, the
I thought August would have been a ‘cover-off’ between Spider-Man’s Emma Stone and Catwoman Anne Hathaway, as come on both make incredible cover stars and it would be the battle of the summer blockbusters, but it seems I was blindsided by the gorgeous French beauty Marion Cotillard who appears on no less than four different covers in four different countries for August making her a very in-demand actress. The French star has taken covers on both American and Paris Vogue, as well as Marie Claire UK, and then this week another one was unveiled from ELLE South Africa, and what
Last week I brought you Jennifer Lopez doing her best Million Dollar Baby impression with her very unexpected sporty cover for V Magazine, well it seems April is J-Lo’s month as she is also fronting American Vogue’s Shape issue with a more traditional glamorous look. When I saw this cover, I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t the other Jennifer – Lawrence that is promoting The Hunger Games as I am obsessed with the books, but I have to admit I don’t dislike it, however I am not wowed by it. Jennifer Lopez looks stunning in what looks like a Bottega
We’ve known for ages that Rihanna had finally scooped her first long-awaited American Vogue cover, as the singing superstar broke the news to everyone on her Twitter in January. But seriously, nothing could have prepared me for this amazing cover, shot by Annie Leibovitz, Rihanna really is the perfect choice for the Shape issue. Looking stunning in a sheer Chanel dress from the label’s pre-fall 2011 collection, I love that Rihanna is channelling Jessica Rabbit with her bright red hair and her sultry good looks. If the cover is this good – I can’t wait to see what the shoot looks like inside.
