Of course all the stars came out to celebrate the re-opening of the Chanel SoHo store in New York this week. The party and private dinner hosted by Karl Lagerfeld himself attracted Rachel Bilson, Diane Kruger, Blake Lively, Alexa Chung and Sarah Jessica Parker among others – all of course wearing Chanel. Some pulled it off, some did not.
Who: Actress Rachel Bilson
Wearing: A white tweed Chanel shift dress with black detailing teamed with suede Brian Atwood booties and a black satin clutch.
Verdict: I like this dress, it may be more minimial than some of the other dresses but I think that is what makes this mini one of my favourites. I like that she went for her hair up and kept her makeup sleek – as always Rachel knows how to do classic.
Who: Actress Diane Kruger
Wearing: A ruffled grey/blue Chanel mini with a black belt nipping it in at the waist with Chanel booties
Verdict: This wasn’t one of my favourite looks of the night, but by no means the worst, unfortunately this outfit on Diane is a bit too messy for me. I like the fact as always she goes for the most stand-out piece, her hair and makeup is flawless.
Who: Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively
Wearing: A purple and black sequinned Chanel dress with pewter Christian Louboutin heels
Verdict: Sorry to say, and I normally like what Blake wears, but this is my least favourite of the four outfits. I get it she is covering up her boobs and legs but I feel that she has gone to the extreme. I love the colour, I love the sequins, I love the skirt and top of the dress if they were separates – but together it just doesn’t work for me.
Who: TV presenter Alexa Chung
Wearing: A daisy white and black Chanel shift dress paired with patent Mary-Janes
Verdict: This is my favourite outfit of the night, I love the sixties vibe this shift has paired with her quirky attitude, messy hair, and flats – she looks super cute.
