Met Gala 2012: Emma Stone In Custom Lanvin

Who: Actress Emma Stone

Where: At the Met Gala 2012 in New York

Wearing: A red custom-made flirty Lanvin dress design by Alber Elbaz, which featured more than 3,000 hand-embroidered plastic and crystal flower paillette’s, teamed with black heels and Lanvin crystal hair accessories

Verdict: When they were both being interviewed Alber’s said that the dress was “rainproofed”, which kind of sums up the amazing chemistry between the two, Lanvin and Emma Stone is a great match and she looked so cute it in this mini-dress. Just for the fun of this dress paired with a cute updo and bright blue nails it gets my vote for one of the best dressed.

I really do like how the dress kicks out at the waist and the embellished detailing is really interesting, I am sure for some this dress is a little too playful for the Met Gala but I think it suits her personality well, however I am sure there will be a lot of examining this look up against Victoria Justice in her floral McQ.

Do you like Emma’s look?

Video Loving: Lanvin Holiday Window

I am completely loving the direction Lanvin is going in lately, I fell in love with the brand and Alber for the autumn/winter 2011 video, and now they have kicked off December and the festive season with a fab window display at its Paris store.

The video shows the Rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré store being decorated for the holidays, with glimpses of the very chic French people walking by. What I love is how the window comes to life with the colourful Lanvin clothing, and how the models create a party atmosphere. Lanvin’s moto is to ‘Dance the night away to the end of the year!’ – I couldn’t agree more!!!

AW11 Campaign: Lanvin Asks Can Models Dance? Hell Yeah!!

If I said to you that a French fashion house went for a Pitbull song as the track to their latest campaign, be honest you would think I had lost the plot, well that is what Lanvin has done for autumn/winter 2011.

The campaign shot by Steven Meisel features super models Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmerman busting some shapes to Pitbull’s ‘I Know You Want Me’, and it is a super fun and stylish video. It is so good it even makes me question whether a print campaign was even needed.

I am so glad that this campaign turned out as well as it sounds on paper, admittedly Raquel doesn’t look as comfortable as Karen *she is a goddess after all*, and the men don’t exactly cut it for me, but you have to watch all the way to end to check out Alber Elbaz – he completely steals the show with his dance moves.

Seriously, awkward really is sexy.

Does anyone else want to plug in the Xbox Kinect and bust a few moves? I am think next gathering at mine, get glammed up and film our own Lanvin-inspired dance video – who is up for it?

Also who fancies buying me a Lanvin cape?

Golden Globes: Julianne Moore Striking In Hot Pink

Owly Images

Who: Julianne Moore

Where: At the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills

Wearing: A shocking pink Alber Elbaz custom Lanvin asymmetrical silk gown with draped shoulder detailing and gold embellished neckline, and to finish her look Julianne wore nude Lanvin platform heels and Bulgari jewels

Verdict: I love the colour, I love that she went for a bold red carpet look, hair and make-up is flawless, and the gold neckline is exquisite. However, I get that you have to sit down in the car over but I think this dress needed to be steamed more before she wore it as those creases are distracting me from the gown itself. I want to like, but I don’t think I do.

Stocking Filler: Lanvin Playing Cards

Pic: Lanvin Cards at Net-a-Porter

Having trouble finding the perfect stocking filler for your fashionista friend? Well look no further as I have found the most perfect Christmas present at Net-a-Porter, gorgeous Lanvin playing cards, complete with the label’s signature illustrations.

The two sets of playing cards, £55, come packaged in a pretty designer-stamped box and a paper designer bag with face illustrations – divine!!

I love the fact that Alber is the King of Clubs. I think I would actually squeal if I opened this on Christmas morning.

Lanvin Loving: H&M New Designer Collaboration

It has been everywhere today, but I don’t care I am that excited – as H&M has announced that the next designer collaboration is with French fashion label Lanvin. I was super excited by the Sonia Rykiel collection earlier this year but this one designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, has to be the biggest to date.

“H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.” Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin.

So if like me and you’ve already added November 23 into your Blackberry as a date reminder then you’ve probably already put together a mental wish-list as well. Get ready for it though as it is only going into 200 stores worldwide so I can see a queue and elbows in my future to a gorgeous Lanvin piece for my wardrobe. I hoping for some heels, a handbag oh and a ruffled dress!!

Both womenswear and menswear will be revealed to the world on November 2 in a special video – loving the social media drive they have done with this campaign – very fashion forward like the collection no doubt.

Colette Commission DC Comics 75th Collection

Pic: Colette

Check out what Colette in Paris are doing to celebrate the 75th anniversary of DC Comics, home to Batman and Catwoman, they’ve commissioned a superhero-themed designer accessories and clothing collection.

From Monday anyone lucky enough to be in Paris can check out the window display to celebrate Colette’s birthday present to the comic series.

My favourite piece has to be Roger Vivier’s Catwoman thigh-high boots complete with white whiskers with Thierry Lasry”s Plastic Man shades a close second. Other designers who have got the superhero bug include Lanvin menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver who created a Batman dog t-shirt and Karl Lagerfeld has jewelled Green Lantern fingerless white gloves.

I can’t wait to see the window display in its full glory next week when I’m in Paris.
