Kill The Night: Phillip Lim Creates The Most Fashionable Comic…Ever!!!

I love, love, love the autumn/winter 2012 collection from 3.1 Phillip Lim, not only was the collection full of Pop Art-inspired graphics and Ka-Pow slogans, but I love how it also spawned the Superhero trend which I adore, I dream of owning The Break Up PVC and Leather pouch, and it seems that Karlie Kloss has some competition on being the only superhero model that kicks ass.

With the autumn/winter collection taking inspiration from graphic novels Sin City and V for Vendetta and “the neo-noir heroines who embody it” the designer has decided to created his own fashionable comic with the help of legendary comic book writer John Ostrander and Star Wars artist Jan Duursema to help launch the new season.

Kill The Night launches on September 6, better known as Fashion’s Night Out, and tells a story of “duality and metamorphosis, day and night, black and white, love and betrayal”, while still looking chic – check out the divine masks and that cute pleated tunic on the cover.

How I wish I was going to be in New York for FNO as every shopper to purchase something in the Phillip Lim boutique will receive a signed copy of the comic book, as well as an additional 15 per cent off. OMG jealous!!!

Non-New Yorker’s don’t despair as apparently you can also snag a copy online, and the brand plans to post  “exclusive behind-the-scenes content” on its social media sites, including revealing whom the characters are based on. I think the more I learn and see about this comic the more I need it in my life.

I love it when fashion designers create new concepts to create a buzz for their collections and this one by Phillip Lim is definitely one of the most creative.

Would you buy the most fashionable comic?

Shopping: The Superheroes Edition

Batman and Spider-Man have not only taken blockbuster success this summer at the cinema, but it seems that fashion has taken note and been inspired, as comic book and pop art-inspired pieces have started hitting the shops.

For me it all began with 3.1 Phillip Lim’s stunning pre-fall 2012 collection filled with graphic prints, including that incredible Break Up PVC pouch that has caught ever fashion editor’s attention. From there Lazy Oaf designed a batman collection, Zoe Karssen added some bat-appeal to her t-shirts, and even the king of fun jumpers Markus Lupfer added comic book lingo to his uber-cool signature sparkles, and it seems everyone has produced a cat ear headband in honour of our favourite female superhero/villian, Catwoman.

There are so many cool comic book pieces that it was hard to choose just 15, but I have brought you my favourites below:

1. Lazy Oaf x Batman – Crop Shirt In Bat Print, £60 at ASOS

2. Zoe Karssen – Heavenly Pink Bat Tee, £60 at Donna Ida

3. 3.1 Phillip Lim – The Break Up PVC and Leather pouch, £345 at Net-a-Porter.com

4. Lulu Guinness – Black Kooky Cat Lily Tote, £50

5. 3.1 Phillip Lim – Ka-Pow T-Shirt, £160 at Matches

6. ASOS Cat Ears Lace Headband, £8

7. Markus Lupfer – Ka-Pow! Sequin Jumper, £300 at My-Wardrobe.com

8. Maison Michel – Yoko Embellished Cat Ears Headband, £660 at Net-a-Porter.com

9. Model’s Own WAH Nail Wraps Pow, £7

10. ASOS – Cat Face Jumper, £32

11. Markus Lupfer – Black Cat Sequin Jumper, £299 at My-Wardrobe.com

12. Lazy Oaf Batman Backpack, £55 at ASOS

13. ASOS Premium Spider Jewel & Spike Necklace, was £50 now £37.50

14. Wonder Woman Converse, £50 exclusive to Schuh

15. ZAP Embroidered Comic Headband, £15 at Etsy.com

What do you think of the Superhero trend – will you be working any of the pieces above? I think the ASOS cat jumper might have to be my first purchase – so cute and very similar to the Markus Lupfer one.

MTV Movie Awards: Cameron Diaz Sexy Black Jumpsuit

Who: Cameron Diaz

Where: At the 2011 MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles

Wearing: A black 3.1 Phillip Lim jumpsuit with skinny patent belt, teamed with black Lanvin strappy heels

Verdict: Seriously Cameron has the best legs in the business for me, she is my gym picture, you know the one I mean the picture of a celebrity who’s body you want and Cam is what makes me run that little bit further!!!!

For most this would be a boring choice, but Cameron is clever she is letting all the young actresses work the mini dresses, while she looks classy in black, and it so works as she looks amazing.

Hot body, smoking legs and simple-yet-chic styling.
