Fashion DIY: Rebecca Minkoff Polyvore Clutch Challenge

One of my favourite handbag designers Rebecca Minkoff is hosting a special designer challenge with Polyvore to recreate her iconic Morning After Clutch (MAC). Sadly only open to American residents, Polyvore users can create their own MAC using their personal style using the all the pieces: leather, hooks, tassels, studs, zippers, and feet. Need some inspiration? Well check out Rebecca giving you all the details.

Not only is this a fun challenge, but the winner will get their bag created for everyone to buy, as well as being flown to New York to attend her fashion show in February, 2011.

Rebecca will personally select her top ten, and then users will vote on the finalists on her facebook page from December 1-8 to select the winner. So what are you waiting for? Get designing to be in with a chance – competition closes November 29.

I know I can’t enter being London-based but hey I love a bit of DIY fashion. So here is my take on the MAC – a dedication to London’s swinging 60s:

London 60s Chic by fashionnbarbie featuring a velvet dress

My inspiration for redesigning Rebecca Minkoff’s Morning After Clutch came from London living with a nod to the nostalgic swinging 60s. Utilising the fun of the clutch I mixed in lots of textures zips, studs and tassles – perfect to swing alongside my knee high boots and shift dress. For me it had to be a bag that made the transition from day to night. This clutch, which I have named the Twiggy, has a 60s ladylike mixed in with rock and roll chic.
