Video Loving: Moi By Miss Piggy

I do love Miss Piggy, not only is she the best diva in Hollywood with great style, but she also knows how to laugh at herself and this is one great example with her parody commercial to promote her new line ‘Moi’ for QVC.

Yep, a Muppet is getting their own lifestyle line, but that’s not what I love it is this video that made me laugh hysterically – it literally showcases all the pretentious poses and scenes from all the great fashion and beauty adverts set in an opulent mansion. I love it when the rose petals makes Miss Piggy have a coughing fit.

Seriously if this doesn’t cheer you up – I don’t know what will – now cue the hair flicking!!!

Interview: Donna Ida Talks All Things Denim

Donna ida 1 Interview: Donna Ida Talks All Things Denim %tag

Last week I shared with you the behind-the-scenes snaps of my video interview with jeans Queen Donna Ida as she opened up her first pop-up boutique up North at McArthurGlen’s Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet – well finally the video has been edited and I’m so pleased with how it came out.

I chat with Donna about her denim must-haves, her denim icons, her favourite pieces from her own brand ‘Ida’, what trends to expect this autumn/winter, and her expert tips on how to find the perfect pair of jeans.

Donna’s pop-up at Cheshire Oaks is open until October 20, if you are in the Chester area make sure you check it out as the selection of jeans is incredible and there are some bargains to be had as well.

Video Loving: Gorgeous Fashion, A Unicorn, & Elijah Wood – Can Only Be Rodarte

rodarte film 3 Video Loving: Gorgeous Fashion, A Unicorn, & Elijah Wood Can Only Be Rodarte %tag

Normally when you get a fashion film you have close-ups of the pretty and very expensive clothes, there is a gorgeous model or actress involved, and generally the narrative is very limited – because really the film is just a way off adding a digital element to the print campaign.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a lot of fashion films, but I love that the Mulleavy sisters behind fashion label Rodarte are a more than a little kooky as this 13 minute short film is weird, beautiful and more than a little unexpected.

Teaming up with director Todd Cole and production company The Creators Project, the short flick ‘This Must Be The Only Fantasy’ is a clever, dark sci-fi-meets-fantasy masterpiece that goes beyond just selling the gorgeous spring/summer 2013 collection, which of course it does, but adds in newcomer Sidney Williams, a unicorn, a fairy and Hollywood actor Elijah Wood.

Granted it is a little odd, you might be thinking at the beginning what do a group of weird-looking teens in LA have to do with a fashion label, but I love how it develops into a fantasy role-playing game where the teens have to embark on a journey that leads to them discovering a unicorn in the garden, a cloaked horseman, and alien-looking hooligans in order to rescue Elijah Wood from a video-game throne with the aid of a fairy, played by supermodel Guinevere Van Seenus.

As well as loving the sci-fi fantasy filled narrative, the slightly spooky original music by Beach House adds to the suspense of the short film, and the clothing just adds to the beauty – I love Sidney’s warrior princess outfit for her sword fight with the fringed leather.

Trailer: First Look At Carine Roitfeld’s ‘Mademoiselle C’ documentary

mademoisellec Trailer: First Look At Carine Roitfelds Mademoiselle C documentary %tag

I have a fascination with fashion documentaries whether it is a behind-the-scenes look at streetstyle photography with Bill Cunningham, an in-depth look at Karl Lagerfeld’s every day life, how a September issue is actually put together or insight into fashion designer Tom Ford‘s life – well next up on my list to watch has to be Mademoiselle C, which follows fashion editor, Carine Roitfeld.

Since it was announced last year I have been excited to glimpse into her life, I loved her work when she was the Vogue Paris editor, and to be honest the magazine hasn’t quite been the same without her. The first look at her documentary, from the production company behind The September Issue, has been released and it centres around the debut issue of her new magazine, CR Fashion Book, and shows the editor working on the project in Paris and New York.

As well as all things Carine, this documentary also has a host of fashion faces from Donatella Versace to Karl Lagerfeld, as well as Tom Ford and Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz – all it seems love her.

As well as getting an insight into her creative process, her personal life like becoming a grandmother – I can’t wait to see the bit where she is singing in Russian, which is apparently her favourite moment of the film.

The documentary opens in the US on September 11, and then at London’s CIne Lumiere from September 20, but if you want to watch at home you won’t have to wait long as the DVD is released on September 30.

Are you looking forward to seeing Carine Roitfeld’s documentary?

Video Loving: Prada ‘Real Fantasies’ AW13

Only Prada could mix a sophisticated domestic setting, an adorable cat, and glamorous clothes to create a trippy film-noir version of daily life that leaves me completely confused but wanting more.

This is the latest in the brand’s ‘Real Fantasies’ series, and it is just as surreal and quirky as the last, mixing together live action models with collage and hand-drawn shapes to showcase both the women’s and men’s autumn/winter 2013 collections.

As well as loving all the gingham, the leather jackets and thick waist belts, there is a spooky element to the film that I love with the models ending up in the TV and in pictures on the wall, but surely the best bit has to be the kitty that just appears from nowhere!!!

What do you think of Prada’s latest fashion film?

Video Loving: Diane Kruger Chats Red Carpet, Stylists & Hollywood

Diane kruger vanity fair Video Loving: Diane Kruger Chats Red Carpet, Stylists & Hollywood %tagThis week Vanity Fair launched its own video channel featuring four original series inspired by the mag, one dedicated to Manhattan’s most iconic addresses, a book series, an animated ‘how-to’ series, which this week teaches you how to behave at a Swingers Party and a celebrity interview show hosted by Vanity Fair Senior West Coast Editor Krista Smith, which includes stars taking a spin in the V.F.’s video photo booth that always seems to be a highlight at their Oscar bash.

The first star to chat with Krista Smith is my girl crush Diane Kruger, yes I know I have already featured her once this week, but this video is super charming and the actress dishing on her love of fashion, not having a stylist and working the red carpet, as well as her new series on FX ‘The Bridge’.

Diane also gets into V.F.’s video photo – pulls silly faces, while still looking gorgeous, shares her love of profiteroles and the phrase ‘see what I mean’, while wearing the most adorable leopard print and multi-coloured flats.
