Inside ‘& Other Stories’ In London

andotherstories 42 Inside & Other Stories In London %tag
So after six months of anticipation speculation, a little confusion, and plenty of hype from the fashion crowd, H&M’s new high-end label, & Other Stories, finally launches in London today and last night I went to the preview, checked out the collections, picked up a few treats and generally became a fan in a matter of minutes.

Before I arrived I have to be honest I wasn’t sure what to expect, I know there have been a few teasers, but really what did they tell us other than it was quite similar to COS, I pondered the price ranges, which are closer to COS than H&M, and I was even asking myself whether the high street needed another H&M/COS spin-off. Basically, a lot of my hesitation about the brand had to be the name – why ‘& Other Stories’, which for some reason I have a hard time saying it always comes out ‘another stories’ or ‘other stores’ – it just didn’t have a fashion feel about it.

Last night all those hesitations totally went out of the window, H&M can call their stores whatever they want especially when they make make them like this. For me ‘& Other Stories’, which is being billed as a ‘one stop shop’ is more than just clothes, which to be honest wasn’t the main focus when I was looking around, this store is about all the added extras that make up a great look – the bits I love, the handbags, the jewellery, the incredible shoes, and I literally fell in love with the beauty emporium – more than 40 nail varnish colours, gorgeous skincare, cute make-up palettes and a body and bath range that I can’t wait to try.

As with the branding and the minimalistic approach to the marketing the store itself has a striped back industrial feel that I am calling warehouse chic. I loved the bare floors, the exposed walls, the white finishes, the scaffolding staircase, and the incredible lighting rigs acting as spotlights – as well as the graph paper lined counters, the glass cases and the mannequins.

But what caught my eye walking around were all the postcards featuring the products styled up – it was like one of my favourite fashion magazines had done a shoot with all my favourite pieces. They not only showcased the items in a different light, they inspired me to want to wear something news, and they highlighted the added extras – which for me is the pull of this new store.

Jewellery & Accessories:

As ‘& Other Stories’ is anchored around personal style rather than trends the jewellery and accessories really do have a prominent position in the store, which for me is amazing as I hate having to find the darkened corner to pick a new sparkle to jazz up an old look. From industrial heavy necklaces to dainty rings and adorable bow cuffs, having the jewellery and accessories dotted around the store mixed in with the ready-to-wear pieces really does help build an outfit.

Handbags:

As you know I love a good handbag but I find the high street lacks in the quality department, I am drawn to a number of designs in Topshop and Zara but the quality just isn’t up to the standards of my designer varieties, well I think ‘& Other Stories’ is going to become known for the place to buy a leather handbag that is made well, looks different, I loved all the scalloped edging, and is affordable. Bags I loved last night ranged from £55 to £195 – all leather, all beautiful, and all guaranteed to hurt my credit card!!!

Co-Lab:

So H&M has become known for their designer collaborations with the likes of Versace, Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney, well ‘& Other Stories’ have decided to collaborate with a range of up-and-coming designers to enhance its own brand pieces. You have a gorgeous collection of leather embossed handbags designed by Los Angeles-based designer Clare Vivier (pictured above), I am in love with her yellow cross-body bag, super chic transparent brogues from Abigail Lorick Im, and incredible sexy lingerie from The Lake and Stars.

Another hot draw to ‘& Other Stories’ is going to be the footwear department on the second floor, filled with edgy sculptural pieces, black mules with chunky heels, vibrant flats, and to-die for wedges and ankle boots. There was so much to choose from – but these were my favourites – I need these bright wedges in my life for summer!!!

Beauty:

Finally but certainly not least is the beauty department and probably one of my favourite aspects of this new store. It is unusual for a high street brand to place so much on the beauty but ‘& Other Stories’ have put together a beauty section to rival any department store. Centred around the philosophy that ‘every look starts with a healthy skin’ this section has everything you could need make-up, skincare, bath and body products, brushes, nail varnishes, the list is endless and all products are presented in minimal packaging that is just divine.

Sorry for such a long post but as you can see there is lots to see in the store and if you are interesting in seeing more of the collections head on over to my Facebook page as there are over 100 piccies from last night’s event. Plus head back over the weekend as I will be doing a more detailed review of the beauty offering which I can’t stop gushing about!!!

If you are in London head on over to the store on Regents Street – and don’t forget to let me know what you think of the new brand from H&M.andotherstories 51 Inside & Other Stories In London %tag andotherstories 39 Inside & Other Stories In London %tag andotherstories 50 Inside & Other Stories In London %tag andotherstories 128 Inside & Other Stories In London %tag

Shopping: Glamour Team Up With Very

A couple of weeks ago, before fashion week madness kicked in, before I got ill, and before my Mum came to visit I was invited to a Google+ hangout with the Glamour editorial team to discuss their first designer collection with Very.co.uk.

If you haven’t seen the collection, check it out below – 13 great pieces that are basically a Glamour girls capsule wardrobe – a cute little black dress, one of my favourite pieces, a versatile white shirt, which you may recognise from my fashion week outfits, as well as a casual great sweatshirt, a jewelled collar, and a fun pink tutu – and best of all the most expensive piece is only £59!!!

One of my favourite pieces has to be the Broderie Trim Shirt – at only £35 this piece can be paired with a simple skate skirt or worn under a jumper – it has a great shape and cute details that I loved wearing it over fashion week.

Revisited: Osprey Home In St Albans

Osprey Home 7 Revisited: Osprey Home In St Albans %tagI do love revisiting places, especially when they are as adorable as Osprey Home in St Albans, and last week I was invited by the brand’s founder and designer Graeme Ellisdon to take a tour around the treasure trove and a spot of lunch after its refurbishment.

What I love about Osprey Home, other than the obviously that it is full of pretty things that I want to fill my house with, has to be the charming feeling you get when wandering around the stable blocks, you basically never know what you are going to find. Plus as well as offering a gorgeous shopping experience this place has the most amazing cafe, seriously the cakes are to-die-for, and they have a collection of tea cups that I wish I had.

Since my last visit the main changes has to be that the place is bigger, they have extended the Saddlery Cafe, which was wise as it is very popular, they’ve repositioned the Home store slightly and have introduced new lines such as jewellery, which is curated by Graeme’s wife, Osprey London candles and fragrances, which smell divine, and generally they’ve allowed more room for the hand-selected vintage-inspired finds that I loved from my first visit.

As well as cute interior pieces, gorgeous food in the cafe, Osprey Home also has an outlet store for the Osprey London handbags and leather accessories at bargain prices. I have to be honest I haven’t spent a more relaxed afternoon in a while, I have added a lot of things to my wish-list, and I came away with some amazing interior inspiration as well. I wish all shopping trips were such a pleasure!!!

Shopping: The Toms Give Shop

Toms give 6 Shopping: The Toms Give Shop %tag

There aren’t many brands that I will get lost for 10 minutes and shiver for, Toms however is one of those, and last night I had the pleasure of attending the press preview for their new experiential Give Shop, located just off Brick Lane in East London.

I just love Toms ethos of ‘One For One’, that for each purchase you make whether that is a pair of classic Toms flats or a pair of their funky sunglasses, the brand founded by Blake Mycoskie helps a person in need – seriously more brands should be more like that.

Well just for the weekend, Toms has opened its first Give shop to spread some holiday cheer, and present the real meaning of Christmas the spirit of giving, and they have done it in such a fun and interactive way with five amazing areas to enjoy:

Give Craft

Toms give 3 Shopping: The Toms Give Shop %tagOne of the most enjoyable areas, where you can make some homemade Christmas cards, wrap presents in Toms ‘One For One’ wrapping paper, and generally get stars and glitter all over yourself.

I love Lois aka Bunni Punch getting into the spirit and making her own bunny Christmas card!!!

You guessed it, an area featuring a photo booth. Get dressed up like Santa and his Elves with your friends and create a picture worth putting on a Christmas card at the craft station, or just share the funny snaps online via social media.

Posing with Kathryn and Sherin – I just love how we didn’t quite fit in properly – hilarious.

Give Knowledge

Toms give 9 Shopping: The Toms Give Shop %tag

One of the coolest areas of the shop, not only is it encouraging visitors to bring in an old book and exchange it for another, but the space is made entirely from recycled books, which was just inspirational. I love these book stools – I am thinking of creating my own filled with fashion coffee table books.

Give Creativity

Featuring a stage for live music, over the course of the weekend visitors will see performances from up-and-coming artists, we were treated to a session by Liz Lawrence. There will also be creative workshops including DIY jigsaw making and comic strip painting.

Give Market

A cute retail area hosted by Jaguar Shoes Collective, which supports local artisans, I was seriously tempted to buy a teapot with a 3D design on it. Plus you can pick up a Christmas present from the Toms Give Sight and Give Shoes collections.

Finally, if you need any more reasons to pop by over the weekend – just go to see the very festive Toms Christmas tree feature the brand’s collection of shoes including teeny tiny sequinned flats for babies.

Festive Fix: Get Your Christmas Jumper On!!!

Christmas jumper Festive Fix: Get Your Christmas Jumper On!!! %tagI am a sucker for all things Christmassy, I love going a little OTT dressing the tree and house, I can’t get enough of chocolate tins, mince pies, and baking up a storm, and of course I do love getting presents. What I am so pleased about is that the tacky Christmas jumpers I have always loved and worn each year are finally having a moment, yes tacky is finally cool and fun and I totally recommend that you all get involved.

For me it seems Reindeers are my thing, I have lots of different novelty jumpers and Santa Claus’ flying helpers seem to be taking over my wardrobe. My new favourite has to be this one from Bank’s own label Blonde+Blonde, I just love the super soft knit and contrasting cuffs, but I have also spied some beauties in Primark, New Look and Topshop, as well as online on ASOS.

Here are a few of my other favourites, scroll through there are a lot, and for price info hover over:

Plus if you need another reason to buy a festive jumper – apparently tomorrow is national Christmas jumper day – so come on get in the holiday spirit and get involved.

Are you a lover or a hater of Christmas jumpers?

**Thanks to Bank for sending me this cute festive jumper, sorry I had no one on hand to do a proper picture but I think my HTC did a pretty good job**
