Ad Campaign: Jennifer Lawrence For Miss Dior

For her first Miss Dior campaign, Jennifer Lawrence was very couture, statuesque and elegant, for her follow-up it seems that the French fashion house has simply just gone with the star’s natural beauty for a more relaxed, stripped-backed vibe.

There is something about Jennifer that appeals across the board, she is beautiful but not in an OTT way, she is hilarious, she seems very grounded and doesn’t court the craziness of fame – plus she has the talent. For me her second campaign for Miss Dior really sells the qualities that everyone loves about the actress, her personality, while also helping the French label appeal to the average woman. I think it is a clever move as every woman wants a designer handbag.

I’m captivated by this campaign shot by Dan Jackson. Jennifer looks gorgeous with minimal make-up on, her hair is cute, and I love that chic-yet-simple grey woollen coat that lets the Miss Dior quilted handbag with chain-strap really shine. I think the blush pink one has been added to my handbag wish list!!!

What are you thoughts on a nearly bare-faced Jennifer Lawrence in Miss Dior’s latest campaign?

Ad Campaign: Cute Kids Model Karen Walker Sunglasses

When Karen Walker’s second summer ad campaign dropped in my inbox I have to be honest I couldn’t help myself but go “aww”. This has to be the cutest campaign of the season – the four cuties – Claudia, Tyler, Elise and Alice-Rose are all under five and they look amazing wearing the designer’s crazy shades.

My favourite has to be Alice-Rose with her cute ginger curls – she really is a model in the making – I love the attitude she is giving wearing Peek-a-boo round sunglasses.

Shot by photographer Derek Henderson, the campaign features four new styles, as well as the Peek-a-boo, there is the cat-eye shaped Siouxsie, the oval Underground shades, and the square-shaped Rowdy – each one very bold and a little bit retro.

I think this is a great follow-up to its first summer campaign that featured models between the ages of 65 to 92 – the pint-sized models really do look adorable. Also head over to Karen Walker’s website as there are mini interviews with the stars – I love that Tyler wants to live in Disneyland when he grows up!!!

AW13 Campaign: Red Valentino’s Dark Fairytale By Tim Walker

I love whimsical, I love drama, and I adore an edgy fairytale theme. The autumn/winter 2013 ad campaign for Red Valentino has once again been captured by Tim Walker and it shows off the beauty and darkness of the fairytale collection to perfection.

I just love how you can instantly tell that this is a Tim Walker campaign, from the use of props to the contrast between her romantic floral looks and the sinister setting, which looks all the more striking against the crisp white background.

As well as loving the art direction of the campaign, the Russian doll, folky fairytale collection is just adorable – I am in love with the flower pompom shoes, the braided hair and the feminine dresses.

I am seriously lusting over Valentino’s little sister line.

Are you a fan of Red Valentino and their sinister-yet-romantic campaign?

AW13 Campaign: Kenzo’s Miniaturised Heros

AW13-KenzoYesterday, I spent the day reading nearly all the September issues I could get my hands on, my picnic rug in the garden looked like a make-shift newsagents and one of the autumn/winter 2013 campaigns that kept grabbing my attention had be Kenzo with its doll-like heros.

The series of slightly strange and surreal images created by experimental art magazine Toilet Paper stars model Sean O’Pry and Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi on a Kenzo adventure. I am in love with the whole campaign from the miniature doll-like stars pinned to a dissection table with butterflies to riding giant hands in the clouds.

There is also a weird and cute side to the campaign – the weird being the eyeball print trousers and matching nails to the cuteness of a kitty sat in a shoe – seriously random and that’s probably why I love it so much.

I know this campaign has been out for a while, but it was only when I saw it in the magazines that it really made an impact.

Do you love this strange campaign?

AW13 Campaign: Sonia Rykiel Gets Inspired By Mad Men

If Don Draper was handling French fashion label Sonia Rykiel’s advertising campaign this is probably what he would have come up with – a striking, bold and very arty ad to mark new creative director Geraldo da Conceição’s first collection for the fashion house.

Featuring British model Sam Rollinson, the autumn/winter 2013 campaign was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and pays homage to French advertising posters from the 1950s and ’60s.

I just love the styling, that sky blue coat is amazing, and I adore the graphic cut-out shapes – the keyhole, lips and a face silhouette, which is very Picasso, and Sam Rollinson looks stunning.

Everything about this campaign is bold, fresh and makes a statement – bravo Sonia Rykiel – these ads are going to literally pop off the page!!!

AW13 Campaign: Alexander McQueen Goes Regal

Alexander McQueen has unveiled its dramatic and beautiful autumn/winter 2013 campaign featuring British model Edie Campbell in a black and white shoot captured by David Sims.

While the studio setting might make this campaign seem simple, it is far from it, instead the shots have been captured perfectly to show off the exquisite detailing of the AW13 collection, from the luxurious pearl-adorned bodices to the striking Elizabethan-inspired silhouettes with the nipped in waists and hoop skirts, the incredibly crafted leather and metal embroidery, as well as those opulent face guards.

This campaign is beautiful, the shots looks like pieces of art, and they certainly make an impact – I will be surprised if anyone can flick by these adverts in a magazine come autumn.

What do you think of McQueen’s latest campaign?

Sketch to Store: French Connection’s New Campaign

I love it when brands go for something innovative and edgy in their advertising campaigns, in fashion that is generally reserved by major fashion houses, but high street chain French Connection has put together something really creativity and cheeky for autumn/winter 2013 with the help of iconic photography Rankin.

Entitled ‘Sketch to Store’, the concept visualises French Connection’s design process, with naked models being covered by the clothing designs sketched by illustrator Jo Bird – such a fun but powerful idea that really translate well in the brand’s first black and white shoot.

I love the way it mixes style and design, with a provocative cheekiness, and how it is moving the brand away from its FCUK days with this quirky and some what fearless approach . I also think it is a great follow up to its This is the Woman campaign.

If you love the black and white photographs, you will love the campaign video, where you see the sketches being added to the models and the humour of the advert really comes out – plus the backing track by The Beaches is amazing!!!
