Miniature Love: Monique Lhuillier Dollhouse

monique lhuillier03 Miniature Love: Monique Lhuillier Dollhouse %tag

My love for miniature has been growing recently – whether its the tiny pen that accompany’s my Filofax, or the adorable cute mini toiletry sets that I have to bring home from a trip at a fancy hotel, or even the itsy-bitsy Victoria Sponge cakes that have become my new favourite thing to bake – my need for doll-sized has been getting a little out of control lately.

I don’t know why but teeny versions really make me smile – so you can imagine my excitement when I saw that one of my favourite red carpet designers Monique Lhuillier had created a doll-sized version of her New York flagship boutique – I think I may have squealed a little.

There are three reasons why I adore this so much, firstly, I have always wanted a dollhouse, secondly, this dollhouse comes complete with incredible Monique Lhuillier Barbie-sized bridal gowns, little shoes, and cute chandeliers, and last but not least, this dollhouse has all been done for charity to benefit Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA. Yes you could bid for this incredible designer dollhouse – I am already a little jealous of the winner before the auction has even taken place!!!

Monique Lhuillier’s amazing miniature replica of her Manhattan brownstone flagship will be auctioned off at the Kaleidescope Ball on April 17 at the Beverly Hills Hotel along with nine other dollhouses designed by the likes of Mary McDonald, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Waldo Fernandez, Tim Campbell, Jeffrey Alan Marks and fashion stylist Estee Stanley.

I can’t even imagine how much this beauty will go for, a lot I hope, as all the money raised will go to the UCLA Children’s Discovery and Innovation Institute, which researches children’s health and disease. If only I had pockets full of spare cash!!!

I really think I need to add a gorgeous dollhouse to my ever-growing collection of Barbie dolls – I think it would be fun sourcing cute miniature pieces of furniture and decorating each room.

Dior At Harrods: The Miniature Dior Fashion Theatre

So Dior fashion theatre 1 Dior At Harrods: The Miniature Dior Fashion Theatre %tag

This week I finally got the chance to head on over to Harrods to check out the fabulous ‘So Dior’ experience, an exhibition honouring Christian Dior through the ages and it is amazing.

The pop-up exhibit on the Fourth Floor displays everything from Haute Couture to its impressive fragrances, I particularly loved the Charlize Theron J’adore display, as well as illustrations drawn by Monsieur Dior, a section dedicated to its iconic Lady Dior handbag complete with a giant Lady Dior display and piccies of the late Princess Diana, and of course you can’t have a Dior exhibit without displaying the gorgeous gowns as worn by the fashion houses’ celebrity fans – you can get up-close to Dior dresses as worn by Jennifer Lawrence, Audrey Hepburn and Marion Cotillard.

It really is a breathtaking, informative, and beautifully laid out free exhibition, that was so good to be honest I would have paid to go around. I know there has been a lot of images of the exhibition out there, and I don’t want to bore you, but there was one particular section that I know Barbie fans would love to see and that is the miniature Dior Fashion Theatre.

So Dior fashion theatre 2 Dior At Harrods: The Miniature Dior Fashion Theatre %tag

If ever there was a section that seems to have been made for Barbie herself it was this one, as the Fashion Theatre features more than 40 of Dior Haute Couture’s most symbolic silhouettes recreated in miniature form to tell the history of the Couture House on Avenue Montaigne.

There are scaled-down creations from everything from the iconic Bar suit created in 1947 to Jennifer Lawrence‘s Golden Globe gown as designed by Raf Simons from the autumn/winter 2012 collection.

I was simply in awe looking at these creations, they may be miniature but they are no doubt any less detailed that the originals – everything from the iconic Dior bow to the bustier detailing and the exaggerating draping to the tiny belts nipping in the Barbie-sized waists, this display was exquisite to see.

I have a Christian Dior Barbie in my collection and would love to see this animal printed halterneck gown below with the tulip hem released as a Barbie Collector Doll – seriously how amazing would that be.

There was even a doll-sized façade of 30 Avenue Montaigne, the fashion house’s Couture headquarters featuring Dior silhouettes lit up in the windows, and inside were miniature chandeliers  perfume bottles and tiny chairs – now that is the doll-house for me!!!

I will be posting more pictures from the exhibition on my Facebook page so don’t forget to head on over there – but if you get chance I would most certainly recommend it – for a free exhibition this is incredibly done and don’t forget to walk the windows – they are simply divine.

The ‘So Dior’ exhibition at Harrods runs until April 14.

Doll Loving: Louise Gray’s Rebellious Barbie

Louise gray barbie Doll Loving: Louise Grays Rebellious Barbie %tag

I have covered the Louise Gray collaboration with Barbie that showcased during London Fashion Week previously on my blog, but what I haven’t shared with you is the amazing one-of-a-kind Louise Gray punk Barbie doll that was specially created after the show.

Styled like a model from the show, Barbie is wearing one of the print dresses featuring her logo from the SS13 collection, doll-sized Tatty Devine for Louise Gray earrings and even her shoes are designer as they are a replicate of the Robert Clergerie x Louise Gray shoes.

The styling doesn’t stop there, my favourite thing about the Louise Gray Punk Barbie has to be her hair and make-up, which is a complete replicate from the show. Barbie is rocking the same backcombed hair that Sam McKnight created and she is working a very stiking make-up look featuring those Basquiat-inspired crown eyebrowns, which I absolutely adore.

Talking about her mini version, Louise Gray said:

“It was fun to replicate a runway look in Barbie size. I wanted her to have everything from the catwalk including the hair and makeup as well as all the detailing of the dress for a full look.”

As much as I love punk Barbie I am sad at the same time and that is because this plastic bombshell isn’t going to be available to buy – I would have loved to place Louise Gray Barbie next to my Christian Dior, Christian Louboutin and Kate Spade Barbie dolls.

What do you think doll lovers – would you love the Louise Gray Barbie in your collection?

Doll Loving: The Stephen Burrows Pazette Barbie

PazetteBarbie1 Doll Loving: The Stephen Burrows Pazette Barbie %tag

Ooh I do love an over-the-top Barbie doll and I think you will agree they don’t get any more glamorous than this gorgeous doll designed by New York Fashion Week designer Stephen Burrows.

Inspired by Josephine Baker and Stephen Burrows muse and model Pat Cleveland, Barbie has entered the dazzling world of a retro showgirl with her latest look as Pazette Barbie and I adore her.  Lots of feathers, a hint of sexy with the nude bodysuit, and as you would expect from a showgirl lots of bling with silver glitter, rhinestones and sequin embellishments adorning her suit. This is one hot Barbie!!!

Barbie is renowned for making a show-stopping entrance, I don’t think any have been bigger than this, just for the silver headpiece with cascading white feathers alone I need this Barbie in my life, oh and I can’t forget to mention those amazing nude and silver platform heels – serious a girl could get jealous of shoes like that.

Retailing for $100, Barbie Pazette is only available through BarbieCollector.com, and I seriously need her in my collection.

What do you think – do you like Barbie Pazette?

LFW SS13: Day 4 – A Barbie Makeover, Mark Fast Goes Ghetto, and I Opt For A Flash Of Pink…Again

topshop LFW SS13: Day 4 A Barbie Makeover, Mark Fast Goes Ghetto, and I Opt For A Flash Of Pink...Again %tagDay 4 of London Fashion Week is generally about the big hitters Burberry and Erdem, unless like me you sadly don’t have tickets, one day here’s hoping. For me today was all about heading over to the Topshop venue on Bedford Square for the first time this fashion week, Barbie hitting the catwalk, seeing Mark Fast’s latest offering, as well as dropping in on the bloggers hangout The Apartment for a Forever 21 styling session.

First up Louise Gray at the Topshop venue and Barbie’s latest appearance at London Fashion Week, last year was Sister by Sibling but I was really excited to see the Louise’s three designs inspired by my favourite doll. My excitement for the show did sour slightly with the fact I nearly didn’t get in, sadly I only had a standing ticket and they said it was too crowded to let me in, thankfully I squeezed into the tent as the last minute. It does disappointment me that for a show that was sponsored by Barbie that they didn’t do more to support fashion blogs like mine that love Barbie, come on it is in my blog name!

But enough about that, back to the collection, I love how Louise Gray brings the fun to fashion. I love the energy and attitude of Louise’s shows, the soundtrack was incredible, and I loved the graffiti, doodles, and newsprint-esq prints on the shift dresses and tailored pieces. What stood out the most, other than the fab three Barbie-inspired pieces had to be the accessories – everything from the mirror-effect headgear, designed by milliner, Stephen Jones, to the Tatty Devine made jewellery, and the make-up was crazy finishing touch with cartoon crown’s pencilled over the top of the eyebrows and matte orange lips.

From Bedford Square I then stupidly along with Alex and Briony jumped on the press bus to Burberry, the furthest London Fashion Week venue, for some reason this fashion week I have been making some very rookie mistakes. To be honest though I kind of enjoy my bus trip through London!

forever21 LFW SS13: Day 4 A Barbie Makeover, Mark Fast Goes Ghetto, and I Opt For A Flash Of Pink...Again %tag

Every day there has been something different at The Apartment today was Forever 21′s turn, they brought the specially curated Abi Marvel collection, which you must look out for in the Oxford Circus store, plus stacks of jewellery, sweets and their new shoe collections.

markfast LFW SS13: Day 4 A Barbie Makeover, Mark Fast Goes Ghetto, and I Opt For A Flash Of Pink...Again %tag

Then thanks to Get Taxi I got to Mark Fast in plenty of time. Mark Fast is always an intriguing show, whether it is to see the plus-size models or to see what else he can craft in knit, or to see who is on the front row – last season it was Kanye West, sadly we all had to make do with Kelly Brooke who is doing the rounds this LFW.

To the soundtrack of Salt n Pepper, Mark Fast’s ‘Broke’ collection sent down model after model all sporting the same afro hairstyle and hip hop swagger. Of course there was lots of figure-hugging knitwear, micro skirts, and lots and lots of fringing. Obviously Mark Fast is saying if it isn’t broken don’t fix it!!!

Tedbaker LFW SS13: Day 4 A Barbie Makeover, Mark Fast Goes Ghetto, and I Opt For A Flash Of Pink...Again %tag

My final stop of the day was the Handpicked Media suite to see the Ted Baker girlies, I love their autumn/winter 2012 collection so it was lovely to take a peak at my favourite pieces, but what I loved most was the Hunger Games-inspired display – very Katniss with the bow and arrow!!!

Day4Mystyle1 LFW SS13: Day 4 A Barbie Makeover, Mark Fast Goes Ghetto, and I Opt For A Flash Of Pink...Again %tag

To my look, well I went for a girlie vibe today as Barbie was in town, so I decided to team my Lulu Guinness for Uniqlo tee with my pleated black skirt, new Topshop boots, which simply go with everything, and I couldn’t resist a flash of pink with my Cambridge Satchel Company bag.

My Style: Next pleated skirt; Lulu Guinness for Uniqlo t-shirt; New Look skinny neon pink belt; Black embellished cardigan; Topshop boots; and Cambridge Satchel Company bag.

What was your highlight of Day 4 at London Fashion Week?

LFW SS13: Louise Gray Is A Barbie Girl!!!

AW12LouiseGray LFW SS13: Louise Gray Is A Barbie Girl!!! %tag

So my favourite doll Barbie loves coming to London Fashion Week, last season I loved her modelling for Sister by Sibling, and the season before she made Ken a little more stylish by working with Casette Playa, but this season is the best yet as she will be sponsoring the amazing Louise Gray’s catwalk show.

LouiseGray LFW SS13: Louise Gray Is A Barbie Girl!!! %tag

I actually squealed a little when I heard, Louise Gray is the perfect Barbie girl, not only has she openly admitted to loving Barbie as a child, she is a fellow blonde, she loves sequins and pink and her quirky take on girlie is just what Barbie needs for her latest fashion makeover.

“My clothes are always about colour and fun – making a bold statement through the way you dress.  I wanted to see Barbie® in some separates and layer up her look, giving her a different way to be girly and fun, than how people are used to seeing her.”  Louise Gray

I am super excited to see Louise Gray’s spring/summer 2013 collection on Monday, as not only will it be a bold spectacle, I always love attending her shows, but three of the looks have been inspired by Barbie, and they aren’t going to be just for show, these Barbie looks will be sold as part of her collection.

The good news keeps coming though as I am most excited about the fact that Louise Gray will also be dressing a special one-off Barbie doll in one of the new season looks she has created for her – OMG scream!!!

Granted I wish it said that it was going to be sold, a Louise Gray Barbie would have made a great addition to my collection. I was trying to guess what a Louise Gray Barbie will look like, I have to be honest I am kind of hoping that Barbie gets a little rag doll makeover similar to Louise Gray’s spring/summer 2011 collection, or a sequins overload like her Topshop collaboration, I could keep going on but I am sure pink will play a part!!!

I was excited about London Fashion Week before, but now I seriously can’t wait for Friday when the shows begin and come Monday I will be hyper waiting for Louise Gray and I promise that I will tweet a piccie of the Barbie doll as soon as I track her down!!!
