Where: At the Golden Globe Awards 2013, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California
Wearing: A lavender lace GILES mini-dress embellished with Swarovski crystals from the spring/summer 2013 collection, teamed with matching coloured ankle-strap heels and a silver box clutch
Verdict: While most went for floor-sweeping gowns Thandie showed off her fabulous pins in this sexy mini dress by British designer Giles Deacon.
Normally I would feel that this dress was probably suited to the People’s Choice Awards or MTV Movie Awards but for some reason I really thought it worked. Maybe it is because it is Thandie, who is known for taking risks on the red carpet, or maybe I am just being bias as it is a London Fashion Week designer but I really love this mini-dress.
The colour is divine, there was a lot of nude, red and black, so this lavender lace number really stood out, then there is the length if anyone can go short it is Thandie – her legs are incredible, and then there are the Swarovski sparkles.
For me this mini had just enough glitz for it to work at a big award ceremony – what do you think?
What a busy week, first proper week back at work, my first event of 2013, and award season well and truly kicked off. We’ve had the People’s Choice Awards, the National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York, the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, as well as the Oscar 2013 nominations – and then there has been all the prep for the Golden Globe Awards which take place on Sunday. Red carpet has kind of taken over my life, which is what I love about the turn of the year!!!
Ted’s Finishing School:
As I said I went to my first event of the year, which is always the first event I go to, the Ted Baker away day where they invite a few bloggers to see their spring/summer 2013 collection. Each season the venue is incredible and this year was no different, with the theme Ted’ Finishing School, the catwalk space looked more like a theatre and we were all ready to be schooled. It was a fun show, and lots of lovely pieces will be rolling out soon in the shops. Plus we were treated to not one, but two Britain’s Next Top Model winners walking the show, as well as Ella from X Factor singing us a little tune!!!
I took a little video on my HTC One X of Ella singing to the final looks of the show, sound quality not amazing but you can see how great it all looked.

Buy, Buy, Buy – The Pencil Skirt Edition:
Each week I give you pieces/trends I am craving and at the moment I can’t stop looking for pencil skirts and these three from ASOS, Topshop and River Island are perfect and won’t break the bank.
I didn’t get a chance to check out London Collections: Men, which took place this week showcasing the very best in menswear, but I heard such great things about the street style and I love this video from Handpicked Media.

Wearing: A cobalt blue Marios Schwab midi dress, featuring an embellished lace bodice and chiffon skirt from the spring/summer 2013 collection, teamed with Roger Vivier heels and Lorraine Schwartz earrings
Verdict: Not only are London Fashion Week designers having a red carpet moment in Hollywood this week with Simone Rocha, Peter Pilotto and Julien Macdonald designs being showcased at the People’s Choice Awards this week, but Amanda seems to love London-based designers having worn Alexander McQueen a number of times during the promo tour for Les Misérables.
This look is one of the most fashion-forward dresses on the red carpet last night, I wouldn’t say it was my favourite of the night but I do like that she isn’t afraid to take style risks. I love the colour and the detailing to the bodice, but I would have loved for it to be floor-length, the diamond-shaped hemline doesn’t work for me.
What I do absolutely love is her hair and make-up, from the glossy top-knot to the cat-eyes and nude lips – simply gorgeous. [Pics: Stipple.com]
Who:Jennifer Lawrence, who was a tripple winner last night, taking home the Best Actress in an Action Movie award for her role in The Hunger Games as well as Best Actress in a Comedy for Silver Linings Playbook, which also won the and Best Ensemble
Wearing: A black Prabal Gurung gown with a sweetheart neckline, draping, and leather detailing as well as a dramatic train from the pre-fall 2013 collection, teamed with a leather belt, Roger Vivier crystal clutch and Chopard jewellery
Verdict: Now this is a gown worthy of the red carpet. I had been getting a little worried about Jennifer’s award season after that aging Valentino gown she wore to the People’s Choice Awards, but this gown is simply gorgeous. I just adore that show-stopping sheer train that looked a little like a cape when she glided down the red carpet.
This look has given me high hopes for the Golden Globes and Oscars, as surely each look is going to get better. This gown for me is dramatic and gorgeous on her, but I am hoping that this is the last black look we see from her this award season, I really want to see her inject some personality and colour into her looks.
Other than the dress her side up-do and red manicure is perfection and I love diamond earrings and bracelet and that clutch is striking.
Even though I love it I want to see more from her as I really think she has the potential to completely wow, do you remember that gold Prabal Gurung gown that she wore to the world premiere of The Hunger Games in Hollywood – well I want more of this.
Where: At the 18th Critics’ Choice Movie Awards held in Santa Monica, California
Wearing: An aqua-blue embellished Monique Lhuillier cocktail dress featuring keyhole detail at the bodice from the spring/summer 2013 collection, teamed with Brian Atwood heels
Verdict: I wasn’t the only one who missed Nina on the red carpet of the People’s Choice Awards earlier this week, but it was worth waiting to see her this award season as this is one divine Monique Lhuillier dress.
Whereas everyone seemed to go for floor-length at last night’s Critics’ Choice awards it was refreshing to see the Vampire Diaries star embracing her youth and incredible figure in this jewel encrusted beauty. I am not sure if they are sequins or actual jewels but they certainly dazzled in all the right way for me, and the colour is just gorgeous.
2012 was a great style year for Nina and it seems that 2013 is just going to see her shine even brighter on the red carpet and I can’t wait to see more. I simply love this sexy dress on her.
Where: At the People Choice Awards 2013, which were held last night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles
Wearing: A smokey white strapless Donna Karan Atelier jumpsuit, featuring a stone encrusted corset, draped waisted and and silk crepe pants, teamed with a Swarovski clutch
Verdict: I do love seeing jumpsuits on the red carpet especially during award season, do you remember Rose Bryne at the SAG Awards last year, well I think this Donna Karan Atelier beauty on Morena Baccarin is just as stunning and daring.
For me this look is all about that corset, the stone embellishments really do stand out, and really gives this jumpsuit a red carpet feel. I am also pleased that it was in white, as it could have so easily been done in black, which I just think would have been a little too safe.
The only thing that could have made this my best dressed look over Taylor Swift would have been if the trouser length had been a little shorter, it just makes me think she changed her heels at the last minute to ones that weren’t as high.
But trust me that is just me being extra picky as I am always pleased to see Donna Karan Atelier on the red carpet – I can’t wait to see what the Golden Globes brings!!!
Who:Taylor Swift, who pick up the Favourite Country Artist award
Where: At the People Choice Awards 2013, which were held last night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles
Wearing: A floor-sweeping white Ralph Lauren Collection gown featuring cap-sleeves and a plunging neckline, teamed with turquoise drop earrings and smoky eyes
Verdict: Wow, Taylor Swift came ready for being crowned best dressed in this stunning Ralph Lauren Collection gown. This is a look that I would have expected more from someone at the Golden Globes on Sunday than at the People’s Choice but I am certainly not complaining as it is simply gorgeous.
Considering the rumours, the country singer doesn’t look like she is in the middle of a break-up from One Direction’s Harry, and if she is this simple-yet-stunning gown is really showing him what he is missing.
I just love the simple silhouette of this gown, it fits her perfectly and really is showing off her incredible figure, while still keeping it youthful and fresh with the daring plunging neckline that truly makes the dress a show stopper.
But a look isn’t just about the dress, the reason why Taylor is my best dressed is that everything came together perfectly. Everything is simply stunning from her gorgeous turquoise drop earrings to her flawless make-up and hair. I think 2013 is going to a great year for her!!!
