Where to start with what House of Fraser has to offer for spring/summer 2011, there was so much to see that they took up a whole floor at Somerset House. It was a delight, flitting room-to-room viewing the gorgeous collections, from menswear, womenswear, home and the divine Biba line.
There were a lot of pieces I loved, and of course the colour block pleated silk dress by Pied a Terre, £130, was one of my favourite pieces. I told you pleats were going to be everywhere come spring/summer, but this dress really works two strong trends, pleats obviously but also strong block colours – it will be mine.
I always find that House of Fraser are so strong when it comes to accessories. If I am looking for a handbag or a statement piece of jewellery then HoF is the place I go – and this is so clear with the SS11 collections. Gorgeous bold cuffs, working leather and silver together were my highlight pieces.
But if there is only one accessory I would recommend it has to be this striking Angel Jackson Sequin Satchel, £310, surely you can’t deny the beauty of this, sure to be IT bag of the season. Work it with your LBD, or skinny jeans and boots – I can think of many outfits this bag will go with.
I like the prints and silhouettes of Biba, with this red cape dress being my favourite piece, but all my attention was swooning over the Bridal collection – new for spring/summer 2011. If you are planning a beach wedding, or a simple affair next year then I would recommend a trip to HoF, simple silhouettes, beaded detailing and mesh panels.
