LFW SS11: Jasper Garvida Parisian Belle Collection

I was looking forward to this show, mainly as I really enjoyed his Art Deco collection last season, but also because his series of Project Catwalk back in 2008 was the only season worth watching. First off it seemed liked the front row was just full of bloggers which was nice as it created a real buzz for the show, and I was so grateful I was on the front row to see the incredible detailing in Jasper Garvida’s gorgeous ‘Belle’ collection inspired from Paris in 1951.

This collection is the epitome of femininity with its pastel shades, pleated skirts, ballerina silhouettes, sequins galore, interlaced bodices and all brought together by the gorgeous candyfloss hair buns created by Toni & Guy adorned with jewelled tiaras – perfectly fitting for a Parisian ballerina.

The gracefulness of a ballerina was evident in the collection and kind of had me feeling that the silhouettes were very Luella-esque with its pleated knee-skimming skirts paired with layered bodices, bold corsages, textured loop organza and embellished crystal and beaded pieces. Completely girlie and pretty in a colour palette of muted pastels and neutral tones reminiscent of the French impressionist colours.

I loved the detailing in the collection, the streamlined tailoring, the pleats and ruffles, delicate buttons, bold graphic prints, the corsages which were very Sarah Jessica Parker and the gold sequinned hotpants. Everything about this collection was perfect for spring, my favourite pieces had to be the nude pink cocktail dress, the striped crochet pieces and the girlie blouses with the looped fringing on the shoulders, basically I loved every item.
