Oscars 2018: My Favourite 10 Looks

Oscars 2018, Oscars, Academy Awards, Red Carpet, Celebrities

The Academy Awards is always one of my favourite red carpet night’s of the year, I do love the elegance, the drama and the exquisitely crafted gowns, and this year the Oscars 2018 didn’t disappoint, the all-black looks from the Golden Globes and BAFTAs were gone and a more hopeful, optimistic red carpet was in its place, filled with rainbow hues, bold statements, bows and lots and lots of sparkle.

The red carpet was packed full of incredible looks and I have to be honest it was hard to pick just five as I’ve done at previous award shows this season, so instead I’ve gone for my favourite ten looks – from the Queen of the red carpet Nicole Kidman to the gorgeous Gal Gadot and my new style crush Eiza Gonzalez.

Oscars 2018 – 10 Best Dressed

Nicole Kidman knows how to make a red carpet statement and I’m obsessed with this cobalt blue Armani Prive gown. Everything about this look is pure magic – the colour, the shimmer of the fabric, the over-the-top sculptural bow, the split and the neckline – it looks incredible on her.

It isn’t just the gown, her hair and make-up is flawless – just look at that lip colour, her Harry Winston jewellery is just right – the diamond chandelier earrings weigh 23.52 carats, and then you have those Christian Louboutin asymmetric point toe heels with cross straps – seriously in LOVE with this look.

When you get a press release stating that Margot Robbie has become a Chanel ambassador it is easy to guess who she is wearing. This custom Chanel gown has a simple elegance about it that was just striking on the red carpet. I love how the off-shoulder detailing has been embroidered with a 3D band of crystal tubes to match a neckline adorned with 3D camellias in crystal tube embroidery – this makes this dress Oscar worthy.

Then we have her hair, this wavy bob is making me want to chop all my hair off, and her Chanel make-up is just as flawless, that lip colour is so perfect for her skintone. FYI, it is Rouge Coco 432 Cecile according to her make-up artist Pati Dubroff.

I think I love Jennifer Lawrence during award season when she isn’t nominated for an award, there is an effortless vibe about this Dior gold embroidered silk gown that is just gorgeous on her and I love that she kept her Niwaka jewellery simple. You can’t deny the fit of this gown, it has been tailored to perfection for her, and the metallic colour looks stunning with her wavy blonde locks.

I’m also really obsessed with her face, I think it has to be one of my favourite make-up looks of the night, she’s giving me real sultry vibes with her dramatic winged-smoky eye, and I love the copper hue smudged underneath to make her eyes really pop. Seriously HOT.

Emily Blunt is always a favourite, she really does ethereal beautifully, and this Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown is what fairytale dreams are made of. The aqua silk polka dot tulle and point d’esprit lace gown has been embellished with a harness embroidered with hand-stitched white leather petals, flowers and butterflies, clear plastic flowers and turquoise beads. I’m really crushing over the 80’s vibes of the puff cap sleeves and high neck.

To add to her look she wore pieces from Chopard’s High Jewelry Collection including earrings featuring 30.96-carats of pear-shaped aquamarines and .67-carats of diamonds set in titanium that just looked gorgeous against the polka dot tulle.

I never understand why people are always surprised when they see Jennifer Garner hit the red carpet looking so incredible it’s rare that she steps out in anything less than perfection and this was another gorgeous look from the actress in this bold blue strapless chiffon Atelier Versace gown.

Not only is the colour dreamy, I adore the draped scarf accent at the neckline and the subtle slit to the skirt, it is elegant and really shows off her tiny waist – serious gym goals right here.

Finishing off her incredible look is a selection of Piaget High Jewellery including a cocktail ring and earrings, and OMG her hair – simply stunning.

So, I’ve just become a ‘Jane The Virgin’ fan, I know, so behind the times *I’m on season 2 so no spoilers*, so I was pretty excited to see Gina Rodriguez working the Oscars 2018 red carpet looking so fabulous in this sparkly nude Zuhair Murad couture gown from the designer’s spring/summer 2018 collection.

You guys know I love a Princess gown, especially at the Oscars and this was it for me, it has a sexy allure with the plunging neckline, an old Hollywood feel with the overlaying princess skirt and colour, and the full-on glam factor needed to make a statement with the embellishments. What made this dress even more beautiful was seeing it in motion when she presented during the ceremony – so beautiful – I love it.

For pure craftsmanship of this Louis Vuitton gown, wore by Sandra Bullock, I had to include, I love finding out stats like, it features more than 100,000 paillettes and took 500 hours of hand embroidery to apply the combination of shinny and matte paillettes/sequins to create this incredible ombre effect of gold and black tones that totally makes the gown.

The other reason is because I think we all need to discuss the fact that Sandra Bullock isn’t ageing – seriously how incredible does she look. Plus this isn’t a dress I would have pictured her wearing, it’s a little more edgy than she normally goes for and I’m so pleased as this really was a showstopper of a gown.

New style crush alert!!! This weekend I watched Baby Driver and discovered the beauty of Eiza Gonzalez and then she livens up the Oscars 2018 red carpet wearing this uber-bright yellow Ralph Lauren Collection gown. After I had stopped gushing, this sporty minimal gown totally had me thinking back to Jennifer Lawrence’s first Oscar dress, the now iconic red Calvin Klein.

This gown really was a great choice for an up-and-coming actress, the colour is optimistic and joyful, it’s slinky and sexy without being too revealing and it grabs attention.

Add to that her natural beauty, seriously how pretty is she!!! I adore her hair, anything too much would have distracted from this dress, and she has just the right amount of Chopard bling on with those earrings and cuff.

Actress Elisabeth Moss really glowed on the Oscars 2018 red carpet in this pink Dior Haute Couture gown with aged gold sequin embroidery. There’s an old Hollywood feel to the gown, I love the off-the-shoulder detailing, as well as the embellishments to the bodice and top of skirt, and her skinny belt adorned with the Time’s Up badge.

A dress like this needs added sparkles and Elisabeth is wearing more than 50 carats worth of Harry Winston diamonds, including a pair of Winston Cluster Chandelier Earrings weighing a total of 17.60 carats. That’s some serious bling.

I just had to include Wonder Woman on my favourites list, there is something so infectious about Gal Gadot, yep she’s beautiful, but there’s a warmth to her and it always shows through and adore this metallic Givenchy flapper-style dress on her. Kind of similar to Jennifer Lawrence’s Dior, I think there is more to Gal’s  fully embroidered silver fringe dress, the movement was so beautiful to see.

I’m also loving Gal’s choice of jewellery, debuting the first jewellery pieces from the 2018 Tiffany Blue Book collection including this stunning drop necklace. Of course, her hair and make-up was also flawless, she could have easily gone for OTT 20s glam but instead she kept it modern and classy. I just think she looks beautiful. ]

Want the inside scoop on her lippy? Well all her make-up is Revlon, she’s a face of the brand, and her make-up artist, Sabrina Bedrani has revealed that she is wearing Revlon ColorStay Lipliner in Wine all over her lips and Revlon Super Lustrous in Bombshell Red, which FYI are both under £10 each.
