Life Changes & Our Forever House

Life Changes & Our Forever House

There are certain dreams you have as a child, you know the ones I mean, the career, the dreamy boy, the masses of money, the epic wedding, the round the world trip, the cute babies, and setting down roots in your forever house. For me, one more of those became a reality, I’ve found the dreamy boy, I love my job, I had an incredible wedding, and now my husband and I have finally moved into our forever house, and I’m so in love with it that at times I still have to pinch myself to make sure it wasn’t a dream.

It hasn’t been easy, our first place we bought was a crappy flat that we had to stick out for two very long years until we could move the mortgage, then we’ve spent the last 10 years in a perfectly good house, just one that never really felt like a long-term home, and then to finally move to our dream forever house we’ve had to sacrifice holidays, lots of weekend, either for cleaning, viewings, packing or all three, and had to endure idiot estate agents, unnecessary delays, and finally after a year of saying those words, ‘shall we move’, we got the keys to our new home.

It’s a lot of a departure for us, it is very rural, I always thought the last house, which was in a village was rural, but there were more houses on our street there than in the entire village, which is so crazy. I’m writing this and I can hear the sheep in the paddock, the tractors in the field, church bell ringing practice, and even a horse trotting down the road and it makes me beam. I can’t remember being so happy and feeling like this makes putting our lives on hold to live our dreams totally worth it.

We now live in this beautiful Grade II listed building, a house without a number, just a name, which is something you don’t see as a girl growing up in Salford. There are so many firsts with this house, its my first home with an open fire, to be honest we actually have 7, including an inglenook that is so beautiful that I can’t wait to sit around it in the winter and listen to the wood crackling. Then we have an Aga, granted it needs a little love, but our Aga will be the centrepiece in our new kitchen that I’m planning, and I can’t wait to learn how to use it.

Our forever house also has character, it has a story to tell, history in every room, it even has sloping walls and floors that can make you feel a little queasy on first walking into a room, but even with that I’m smiling, as I’ve always wanted an old house with beams and unique features.

This forever house also presents an amazing opportunity to live our best lives. We’re going to head to the beach more, especially as we are only 10 minutes away, we’re going to see our friends more, enjoy having a dog and taking him to places, take in the new area, and be part of the village community. We’ve also moved to Kent and we actually don’t know the county at all, but you know what that’s what makes it exciting.

The first half of 2017 was in limbo and the second half is taking shape to being about experiencing our firsts and I love that feeling. It’s more than that I’m feeling content, content enough to believe in myself, push myself, and smash my other personal dreams.

There will be a lot more posts about the house in the next couple of months, showing you our decor, renovations, as well as interior inspiration for your home, I’m basically using the move to transition Fashionista Barbie into a full lifestyle offering. Don’t worry, my style posts will still be weekly, well I’ll try, I actually have a lot planned, but the content overall will be a representation of my life, my current life, and interiors, travel, beauty and tech, will sit perfectly alongside fashion, just like they do in my life.

I have to be honest I’m super excited to get stuck in, my content ideas pad is over flowing and I’ve already shot a lot of cool things that I’ll be sharing over the next couple of weeks, but I kind of thought I better explain where I’ve been for the last month or so. I’m telling you this moving malarkey isn’t easy, but oh so worth it.

So, what do you think of my forever house? Dreamy right!!
