What to wear to a wedding as a guest is one of those tricky style questions we all go through. You have to consider so many things when putting together your wedding guest look, what’s the venue like, the atmosphere, will it involve a lot of dancing, tons of food, and will you need to walk from the ceremony to the reception, you know the important things, as well as what will everyone else be wearing.
For me, I love the opportunity to get something a little different, while still being respectful to the occasion, as well as keeping to my personal style. Step away from that typical floral number, opt instead for a vibrant statement, and something fun, as don’t forget being a wedding guest is suppose to be a great time, let your outfit show that. This Coast skirt from John Lewis really does that, it is so whimsical and beautiful that it deserves a day out, and being paired with these fun Dune sparkly heels I know I’ll be able to dance all night long.
A few other top tips when wedding guest outfit shopping:
- Try and pick something that you can wear again, it doesn’t have to be worn as a complete look just make sure you pick pieces that will work with the rest of your wardrobe. For instance, I know that these heels will get a lot of use, they will work so well with dresses, jeans and even a trusty denim skirt over the summer.
- Opt for something you will be comfortable in, you are going to be in this outfit all day and being uncomfortable will spoil the whole wedding for you.
- Don’t be afraid of colour, you don’t have to go crazy but having your accessories colourful can really add to a summer wedding guest look.
- Make sure you know what the dress code of the wedding is, for instance Black Tie will require a more dresser look than say a beach wedding where comfortable flats will definitely be needed.

I got the opportunity to shoot this fabulous look with John Lewis and the super talented photographer Alex Cameron, who if you don’t already know creates the dreamiest of portraits, her locations are always amazing and shooting at Hampstead Pergola and Hill Gardens was so magical and really made this look come alive and I’m so pleased with how the shots came out.
