Have you ever had the problem of being a veggie and loving afternoon tea? I have, I love all the cakes but I’m always a little let down when the only vegetarian option is a cheese sandwich, don’t get me wrong, I love cheese but I do also want to be spoilt a little as well. Well, I think I’ve discovered the best vegetarian afternoon tea in London at the Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane. This isn’t an afternoon tea put together when you request, this is a veggie option that’s available alongside the main afternoon tea, and it is incredible, think little sandwiches with grilled asparagus, radish and there was even a tofu one.
There are a number of other criterias that make a great afternoon tea. Crockery, I love a jazzy pattern and this Wedgwood set is so pretty, luxurious and so British. Then there are the scones, I loved, no scrap that I wanted to kiss the amazing staff at the Four Seasons as they held the scones back to keep them warm. I can’t explain how many extra brownie points you get for service like this, also they came with rhubarb jam, so different I loved it.
Then there is the tea selection, I love that they have Jing, and you have to try Iron Buddha with its oasted hazel and autumn fruits flavour, such a dreamy blend. Of course, the cakes make a big impact and these were amazing, my favourite had to be the chocolate overload mouse with brownie bits in. Then finally the setting, you can’t get better than the Four Seasons Park Lane, this is a decadent hotel and I loved that while we were enjoying afternoon tea someone was playing the piano, it really made it feel like a treat.

You can also add a special cocktail, which have been selected to complement the spring tones of the afternoon tea, and I couldn’t resist this tequila beauty with a marshmallow. Note to anyone, alcoholic marshmallows are the way forward. Plus, you can also add a glass of Veuve Clicquot Brut for a really treat. So, when you add fantastic sandwiches, delicious cakes, fluffy scones, dreamy crockery, with tea, cocktails and bubbles you are definitely in for an amazing afternoon.
This was my first time in the Four Seasons, it is a short walk from Hyde Park tucked away on Park Lane, and even though the outside doesn’t look anything special, except maybe for the Rolls Royce parked up, as soon as you step inside it really is an amazing hotel, the chandelier in the lounge is one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen and they have amazing flower arrangements and artworks dotted around. I also found even though it was very luxurious it had a nice relax atmosphere, it wasn’t like some hotels in London where it can be quite intimidating.
Don’t fret meat lovers your afternoon tea also looked amazing, I may have spied on our neighbours who have the full spread, and you get sandwiches with salt beef, salmon, and crab. Trust me you will not be disappointed.
The Spring Afternoon Tea is served daily from 1:30pm to 6:00pm in the Amaranto Lounge at the Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane and costs £42 per person or £55 including a glass of Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne.
