I do like it when fashion and food come together, especially when it involves afternoon tea and cake. For the next couple of weeks, London Hilton on Park Lane are celebrating the red carpet and London Fashion Week with their ‘Confessions of a Fashionista’ afternoon tea inspired by some of the UK’s best designer brands including Mary Kantranzou, Florian, my latest bag crush, and shoe designer Lucy Choi.
If you haven’t been to London Hilton on Park Lane it really is a fabulous hotel and I love the Podium Restaurant where afternoon tea is served and meeting head chef Anthony Marshall talk through this fashionista inspired tea was such a treat, as everything was produced with such detail and delicious flavours.
There’s the ‘little red dress’ and Lucy Choi inspired shoe shortbread biscuits, which grace a red glazed white chocolate red carpet, then there was the strawberry pistachio designer handbag, a mint and chocolate tart, a tasty mandarin dome chocolate cake, and a refreshing chocolate raspberry parfait. Yes, this London Hilton afternoon tea is a sweet affair.
Of course, you can’t have an afternoon tea without very cute sandwiches and this fashionista selection was so yummy, from the traditional cucumber, chive and cream cheese and smoked salmon to the prawn cocktail and lettuce, ham and mustard, and coronation chicken. I loved that they were open sandwiches, added something a little different, and didn’t fill me up too much before the delicious cakes and scones arrived, which really is the main draw of this delicious afternoon tea.
As many of you will know, I do rate a lot of afternoon tea’s down on the scones, you can’t have a good one without great scones, and I can tell you these chocolate chip beauties were some of the best I’ve every eaten, so light and fresh, and still warm to the touch, which means they get extra brownie points. Plus, this afternoon tea also serves its scones with a homemade praline chocolate spread and who could say no to that. Not me, it really was amazing.
Sadly this ‘Confessions of a Fashionista’ afternoon tea is only available until February 27, I know not long, but then its ‘Confessions of a Chocoholic’ menu will be back and I’m sure that is just as yummy as it sounds.
‘Confessions of a Fashionista’ afternoon tea priced at £39.99 per person, or upgrade to a Champagne afternoon tea for £49.
