BAFTA 2017 Best Dressed List

BAFTAs 2017, BAFTAs, BAFTA, Award Season, Film Awards, Nicole Kidman, Daisy Ridley, Penelope Cruz, Emiy Blunt

So we’ve already done the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes and last night all the hottest Hollywood stars descended on the UK for the BAFTAs 2017, and of course they all brought their red carpet glam team as there were so many gorgeous looks, where black, embroidery detailing and ruffles were the key trends of the night. But who was the best dressed? Well, here are my top five from Nicole Kidman in Giorgio Armani Privé to Emily Blunt in Alexander McQueen.

BAFTAs 2017 Best Dressed

BAFTAs 2017, BAFTAs, BAFTA, Award Season, Film Awards, Nicole Kidman, Daisy Ridley, Penelope Cruz, Emiy BluntMy top spot at the BAFTAs 2017 has to go to Rising Star Award nominee Anya Taylor-Joy in this gorgeous, joyful, and fun tiered ruffle Gucci tulle gown with plissé bell sleeves and embellished tiger bodice by Alessandro Michele. I know from the get-go that this dress will be a little like marmite, you’ll either love it or hate it, for me I adore it. I’m obsessed with the colour combination, I love blue and coral together, I adore the ruffles and tulle, and that embroidery detailing just makes this gown so fun and perfect for a rising star on the red carpet. So, why do I love it so much, easy, I have a soft spot for whimsical statement gowns.

Also, can Gucci do anything wrong lately – they scored a hit on the SAG Awards red carpet with Nicole Kidman and now this, anyone else excited to see what they bring for the Oscars?A close second had to be Emily Blunt in this medieval embroidered organza Alexander McQueen gown. I love the contrast of the body-forming bodice, with the intricate embroidery, with the ruffled and layered skirt, for me, this is McQueen at its very best and Emily – she looks magnificent. If the gown wasn’t enough, Emily certainly had one of the best hair and make-up looks on last night’s BAFTAs 2017 red carpet, as well as jewellery, did you see those stunning Lorraine Schwartz blue earrings? After the disappointment at the SAG Awards, I wasn’t a fan of the Cavaili, I’m glad to see Emily back to being on my best dressed list.BAFTAs 2017, BAFTAs, BAFTA, Award Season, Film Awards, Nicole Kidman, Daisy Ridley, Penelope Cruz, Emiy BluntBlack numbers were definitely a theme at the BAFTAs 2017 and another favourite had to be Nicole Kidman in this halterneck Giorgio Armani Privé with a velvet skirt. This gown was sheer perfect, from the cut, oh my her figure is insane to the sexy neckline, I love this super-deep V-neck on Nicole, hot, hot, hot, and then you have fishtail skirt to add drama and glamour. So simple and done to perfection. I also love that she went for this Harry Winston statement necklace and cuff, those 130 carats added extra shimmer to an already gorgeous look. BAFTAs 2017, BAFTAs, BAFTA, Award Season, Film Awards, Nicole Kidman, Daisy Ridley, Penelope Cruz, Emiy BluntStill going with the black, was Daisy Ridley in this pre-autumn/winter 2017 Roland Mouret ‘Baldersby’ dress, teamed with a matching ‘Rushenden’ bomber jacket, which was needed as it was freezing yesterday in London. This dress, with its wrap-style skirt and floral embroidery makes a statement, while still being chic, and the mixture of black, red and white, plus the floral print really works. This dress is so age appropriate and perfect for an emerging actresss and the matching bomber was a genius idea. Who would have thought I’d love seeing a bomber jacket on the red carpet. BAFTAs 2017, BAFTAs, BAFTA, Award Season, Film Awards, Nicole Kidman, Daisy Ridley, Penelope Cruz, Emiy BluntFinal slot on my BAFTAs 2017 best dress list goes to Penélope Cruz in this striking chainmail custom Atelier Versace gown. You might be thinking that she stole something from Angelina Jolie’s wardrobe, seriously wouldn’t she have rocked this look, but this Grecian goddess look is working for her. The shimmer of this gown doesn’t look as good in pictures as it did on TV, it was mesmorising. I do love a gold dress on the red carpet and this one with its column skirt and draping sleeve detail is a statement and I adore the slightly off-the-shoulder look, adds a touch of sex appeal that Versace is known for. Also, last thing, doesn’t this floor-length frock make her look so much taller than her 5’6″ height. Love it.
