There’s many ways to my heart, chocolate, a pretty New York print, a bunch of flowers, any kind of stationery, and now I can add an hour relaxing reading a book in my gorgeous Betsy armchair from DFS, seriously, isn’t she a beauty. I’ve been wanting to create a spot, to just relax, catch up on my to-do list, read, anything other than looking at my computer screen and I’ve been resisting as we are trying to move house, and then it hit me, why can’t I be comfortable and happy now while we wait for everything to come together, and that’s when I fell in love with a girl called Betsy!!!
So, what makes Betsy a winner, well, just look at her, that vintage style is so dreamy, kind of gives me fifties vibes and I just adore it. A part of me wanted to go for the soft pink hue, it’s all kinds of pretty, but my husband wasn’t having any of that so we compromised with this luxurious looking ash grey. A colour my husband pointed out will go with anything, while still looking unique, and I hate to admit it, but he is so right and it works beautifully with our mint coloured walls and accessories.
There’s something so personal about an armchair, it’s your space and you don’t have to share, and that’s what I love. Don’t get me wrong, I love lounging on the sofa, especially watching a movie, but oh boy was it nice relocating my office to spend time with Betsy this week. I’ve also used it as an excuse to create a pretty space, literally underneath some of my favourite wedding snaps, I’ve got my new Central Park print, a Christmas present from our favourite peeps, fresh flowers, a giant mug of tea, my New York snowglobe, and a pile of great books. Also, getting in on the act is Alexa, she’s getting pretty handy around her turning the lights on and off and playing my favourite tunes with a simple voice command.
The one thing that really finishes off my new reading nook is the matching heart-shaped footstool, so cute and silly, and I love it because it is so big it can double as a coffee table or another seat, and I think when we finally move this beauty along with the chair will hopefully become pride and place in my office/studio. I can just imagine it now with white-washed floorboards, light pink walls, New York pics gracing the wall, and a cosy sheepskin rug on the floor, oh it’s going to be heavenly.
